I feel like people vastly underestimate how much pain Anakin went through in his life. He was a slave for close to a decade, he lost his mother, he lost his apprentice, he was burned alive, lost his wife, put in a suit of armor that was incredibly painful, felt betrayed by his best friend, and all around was severely heartbroken for years.

Shattered actually. Vader hated himself after the revelation of Padme's death and he used that hate very successfully in battle. To me it's no surprise he became as wicked and vile as he was as Vader. Sad fact: whe Vader screams "NO" the room around him gets destroyed, he was attempting to kill Palpatine, Palpatine resisted so Vader then force vhoked Palpatine and nearly killed him right then and there, Palpatine talked his way out of it and electricuted Vader after, he acknowledged and understood Vader was grieving but said the if Vader ever uses the force agaisnt him again, he will not be so forgiving.
