“the ghost and the meat suit” haha! I don’t think I’ve heard that combo before but I love it!

"It's about making the ghost feel better in the meat suit" I love this quote~!

Yes! For the yoga! For this whole concept! Go human writers! We all really need this. I'm a yogi and a teacher and a writer and getting home after work, sometimes the last thing I want to do is write but honestly stretching a little bit and getting the blood flowing really helps me write!

Your videos are so relaxing. I'd say they're a potion for me, also a bit of a rare item, hahaha.

Oh my gosh! Such terrific advice. Especially the part about self care. It's not always bubble baths and candles! I never thought about that before. Epiphany! Thank you!

I love yoga with adrienne too! Every time I feel like I can't do anything, it's like she can tell and right then says something that makes me continue, or gives me an easier version.

I've spent all the day today on taking notes from your different videos. Mostly on Plot Embryos and preptober stuff, but now I've stumbled onto this one and it's also great so I immediately paused it to write down the tips in my BuJo [fresh stuff, I'm still excited about this one :D].
So, yeah, I just wanted you to know that :)

I also take lots of notes on things so it’s really nice to hear this!

This was fantastic, Rachael! I love thinking of self care in this way. Thank you for sharing! A max potion for me is curling up with a mug of tea and watching an episode of Star Trek Next Gen.

Wow tysm! UA-cam is often a weak potion for me, and it's hard to admit. I've been sucked in for a bit now. I usually think it's different from tv, but you've really helped me become aware that I feel icky about it more than I like to admit. I say it will be short nd productive and inspiring, but usually I watch crap. Thanks for pulling me out of the muck

I think I'm a bendy hippie bc I didn't sigh when you mentioned yoga. :D Loved the cute imagery in this vid! I've been thinking in similar categories of active creative & passive recharging activites for a while now & it really helps with the sanity. My potions would be reading (obviously), yoga, but also meditation. As an introvert, I also have this weird thing where attending events (like a book fair or game expo) can be draining, but inspiring at the same time.

Maybe you’re like me in that events can fill manna but drain charisma!

I love the different energies as I love video games, so this resonated with me.
I also adore Yoga with Adriene. I use her short video playlists as a wake up, a break, or a winding down practice.
I am slowly clawing my way out of a writing rut, so this video was was inspirational. Thanks for this~

I love the idea of using the health bars. That is such a great way to look at it. It makes perfect sense. Thank you so much for this.
Also, totally agree about the yoga bit. I started doing it a few months ago to help with anxiety and depression, and it has done wonders for me. I constantly burn the candle at both ends (and in the middle sometimes). So it has become a very important part of my self care routine.

This is actually amazing, I never thought of self care in this way! It always felt like random things you could do with no context, but I love how personalised this is. I'm totally going to create my own potions tomorrow and see what drains and fills up my life bars. Especially as I have the weekend entirely to myself while my partner is on his stag do! You just inspired me to put my dishes in the damn dishwasher, put away my laundry, and pour myself a white wine spritzer and watch a movie 😂 cheers! 🥂

    • @RachaelStephen
      @RachaelStephen  6 років тому

Aw it’s so cool to hear that I actually inspired some actual self care here! Yeah you’re right, talk about self care does tend to be disparate tips rather than a system for the big picture.

Thank you! After watching this I went to do a few Sun salutes and feel better already. I often forget the physical energy bar in favour of creating. They all balance each other, but getting stuck in one place is way too easy. My ultimate strength potion is to lie on the kitchen sofa or on the terrace and watch the clouds. Preferably cumulus clouds that change their shape constantly and I can either just let them flow by or imagine what shapes they make.

What fun to listen to! I've been trying to meditate every morning for the past 10 weeks. Can't say for sure but I think it has been topping up my Mana Bar.

Really enjoyed this video and the way you explained things. I'm a little bit of a herbalism and potions nerd, at least when I venture into the gaming realm, and totally loved your analogy. I actually never really thought about destressers in this way so I definitely need to try to mix a few potions for myself now! Thanks for the insight and I'm glad you're back at it~ ^_^/

I feel like for me I need 4 bars
    Physical stamina
    Mental stamina
    Social stamina
    Emotional stamina
Cuz I'm shit at taking care of myself emotionally and some of my coping mechanisms are taxing in excess to me physically
