It’s also worth pointing out that although the scanner may show a number of features you can ‘add/customise’ I.e. skyline rear lights or dashboard sweep, but some of these features might not actually work on your car.
For example mine showed I can turn on or off fold in mirrors when locking the car, but the car didn’t even have electric windows! 😂

    • @TheGra325

I bought mine with coding options like the folding mirrors in mind but I don’t have any options at all except diagnostics which has shown an issue with airbags which the car hasn’t put a light on for, so since I payed for the mechanic option I clicked that and all that did was direct me to a Google search for a completely different fault code.. £130 down the drain. Pointless piece of crap.

I bought a Carly a year ago,I just use it to do dpf regeneration requests,As I do short trips,It coded my welcome lights on my X5,One thing I didn’t like is Battery registration,It didn’t work,I just bought a Topdon Artilink 600,Checked out when was the last time a battery was registered,Guess what,Nothing around the timeframe when I supposedly registered the battery with Carly was present,My Topdon showed me a battery that had been registered in 2018,A 12v lead/acid 85mah,My battery is a AGM 95mah 019,So I’m going to take the negative cable off my battery, switch the light switch on to drain the residual energy from capacitors etc,And do another registration with the Topdon,Good review pal.

Ya... I bought it. Most of the info given on my three vehicles I was able to pull up on my cheaper Innova ODB reader. Then the renewal. The full version all vehicles $182.89 cdn /year as a renewal.
Hopefully you can learn from my mistake. In my opinion, you're better off buying another ODB from Amazon. And yes I cancelled my service before the renewal at twice the original purchase price. Now I have am OBD2 Bluetooth adapter that I honestly don't know if I can use with any other android app.

Buy Carista instead. It has a subscription too however comparatively it’s cheaper than Carly and OBD 11. Also remember you don’t have to buy a yearly subscription, buy 1 month diagnose, fix issues, modify settings forget about it all within a month. Unless you’re planning to keep fixing the issues or modifying the car every month or have multiple cars. I don’t see a use of it after the first month.

I've just subscribed to Carly. A hundred and something quid seemed very good value in comparison to Autel Maxisys / Bosch units - especially since this gets you all manufacturer's data. I would assume the software would also be live / up to date too. How much is an Autel or Bosch? How often does the manufacturer data update and what is the cost of purchase of the unit + annual subscription? Carly's In-pocket connectivity to a smartphone via OBD also means no cables or bulky units to carry about. Great if you're out and about.

You have to remember that the super expensive professional diagnostic tools are just that, for professional technicians who use them constantly. Devices such as Carly are intended for Joe Average who want to diagnose issues, or customise features, that dealerships or indeed some mechanics charge an arm and leg for.
Just to get a dealership to enable 1 feature, which is just a matter of ticking a box, can cost hundreds of $$.

OBD scanners can get wildly expensive. If Carly can do all that, it might be worth the money. I don't know how I would handle the pay scale for extended features. My first reaction is to lie and cheat, but that doesn't play well with the public. And if you put on the label that it will cost so much, that sucks too.
They'd probably be better off changing the form factor to a full on unit that plugs in and you pay everything upfront.
I wonder does it work on hybrids. They're getting popular. Looks pretty good. I'd like to see a breakdown of what it can do for how much money. Different prices for different cars is also confusing. It's rather a mess, isn't it?
