a bit harsh though to say "Wrap is dead"... I mean yes, there's quite an evolution in wrapping and PPF materials going on, but still, even the STEK Miami Blue PPF on a white car... it just doesn't work , so back to a wrap + PPF
Attention to detail is second to none as always. Seen this colour change ppf popping up on your feeds a couple of times & it does look good. Yes I have a black car as well 🤦🏽♂️😂
Coloured ppf is the another way to get colour change with a superior protection, detailing is a different job, is like to say, surfboard is the future of rugby 😂 👍👍👍
some questions from someone who knows nothing about any of this. If a car is vinyl wrapped how do you maintain it? Do you still wax it the same as paint? Can you polish it if there are small marks or scratches? and how durable is it, how long would it typically last?
Yea average would be $5k-10k as material alone is close to $2k. Then labor of around 20-30 hours in prep, dissassembly, reassembly and the actual ppf/ wrap also
Hi Jon, will you be updating your review of The Rag Company gauntlets video? You said you were leaving the towel with fresh layers to see how it performed over time, which was 5 months ago so it would be really interesting to hear how it performed and held up
@@ForensicDetailing terrific, thanks for the update Jon. I think i'll get one ordered soon :) I'm actually going to try to give my car a maintenance wash this morning before the heat wave hits up here in Cheshire! Hope you and your family have a good weekend with the new pup 😃
Now PPF usually lasts like 5-7 years if i am correct, wraps last in weather prob maybe 2.5 years before it starts peeling apart. Thats the only other benefit i can think of on PPF vs Vinyl
@@davidlopez8953 Most top ppf's are warrantied for 8-10 years whereas a good vinyl will be good for half that under normal conditions. Keep in mind vinyl is half as thick as ppf but also costs less to install.
Five years later and I need a wing bumper and bonnet replacement due to an accident, will the same shade of wrap material still be available to match the adjacent panels?
Does the ppf have any impact on driver assist systems like the radars behind the corners of bumpers? Manufacturers tend to state only paint to say 150 microns thick including original coatings in these areas?
Thank you very informative. I want to get into this industry. I want to take professional training course in the states. Should I take the 3M PPF course or a color change vinyl wrap course first?
@@ForensicDetailing great but in the video you mention black and white donor cars are best for this option you are presenting. i wanted to achieve a blue/green colour
I’m sorta curious now as to the possibility for creating some sorta of drag ? A few fraction off and yer 2nd bud😆🤔😬🤙🏼 How does it look on a white base?🤨🤔😬
I like his sample, but I wish he did another there it shows the effect of the car color on the PPF, when he was mentioning grey vs black and so on. Would be nice to see how it effects a black car vs white car.
Let’s not call it a wrap because that can cause confusion. Or did they... 🤣🤣🤣 Some of the comments here are priceless. I just had to join in on the fun. ✌️🤙
Can PPF be applied to alloy wheels? I have a motorbike with diamond cut wheels. The lacquer has lifted (as I don’t clean it regularly) and I wonder if it can be fitted after the wheels have been repaired.
@@ForensicDetailing thanks for the quick reply. What’s the best way to protect diamond cut wheels for lazy b’s like me who hate cleaning? I’ve done 6k miles in 4.5 months in all weathers and washed it 6 times. The last time I noticed the wheels had the lacquer lifted. Thanks in anticipation.
Scratches will self heal as its self healing film and its designed for stone chip protection, If you did get any damage to the film we would just replace the panel and the paint would remain protected :)
Very timely, I've been looking at coloured PPF and have narrowed down to Profilm and STEK Dyno!
Great technology!
Only advantage of wrap is it covers scratches and can totally choose any color you like.
Exactly
Is this more affordable or more expensive?
@@Unxpekted Regular vinyl wrap from a shop is $4000-6000CAD depending on your car. PPF is over 8k for the whole car.
Need to see a junkyard vehicle wrapped
This is great content. The results look stunning. New car levels of finish.
Looks amazing! I have a Black 997.2 GTS and am very tempted!!!!!
Its totally worth it :P
What an incredible transformation, beautiful.
would like to see the result after 3-4 months, with the inevitable contractions etc.
Ppf is still vinyl… and you still wrapped it 🤷🏻♂️
other than the fact its not this comment was amazing
They are completely different materials of different thickness and different purpose. You must be new.

@@thisispatrick2003still a Fkng wrap. That is the point!

I have Flexishield Cosmetic PPF on my GR Corolla. Gotham Purple. Absolutely love the quality of the film.
How much did it cost?
Just under 8k total not counting ceramic coat. Roll of film is 6k in of itself. Install was 1.7k
Until car paint can change from white to black and red to green vinyl wrap and plastidip are still alive. Still a great finish though, awesome video.
Ppf is better because it simply lasts longer without damaging the vehicle after just two years like vinyl.
How many years does PPF last ?
Nice! I’d love to see a blue pearl PPF over white paint.
Wow. That’s fantastic. I may have to look at that at some point. Better than wrap.
Nice Wrap, Crazy It totally highlights the styley of da PORSCHE!!! That’s a good looking machine 🤘🏼
Martin is such a good friend Jon👍. I enjoy you both and can forget about Harry.
Forget wraps this is way better
Guess what it's still a wrap hahahahaaaaaaa
Lol ,not for those guys with bad body work and primer patches
Nope it's nothing like a vinyl wrap, it's totally different technologies and materials, it's nothing like wrap
Its bettet and much much expensive

This Wraps it all up!! 👍
How much would a job, exactly like what you've just demonstrated, actually cost?

This is twice the price with less options in colors. So no I wouldn't say it kills wraps.
I'd love to see it on a white car to see the difference between black and white, can you tell I have a white car?
I will never ever waste thousands of dollars again wrapping my car. It's a total waste of money
That 997 looks so good debadged.
That final shot ! ❤❤❤
where can I buy this product, I have a white car and I would love to give it a metallic look ,great video beautiful car.
I doff my cap to these guys. It takes some serious skill and patience to wrap a car/ppf a car to such a high standard.🫡
Thank you 😊
Would love to see this type of ppf on some white cars
Yes colored ppf is the future. And the same price as well 😉
Can't go wrong with green👍👍
I get that its PPF but you still wrapped the car. Since it wasnt paint. Wrap lives on
yer we didnt wrap it mate. you got it right first time with the PPF.
so clean it looks like a rendered model

You cant wax vinyl from what i hear. You have to use a certain soap and detailer spray with it so it doesnt damage the vinyl
X51 pack, good choice.
It sure feels lovely indeed
That gloss is gorgeous
My jaw dropped when I saw them using water to apply - Awesome.
Whats the price to do something like this ?
Some quote $1500 some 10k plus
Anyone willing to honor a warranty is goin to be charging north of $7k US for a car of this size for sure.
Yea average would be $5k-10k as material alone is close to $2k. Then labor of around 20-30 hours in prep, dissassembly, reassembly and the actual ppf/ wrap also
In the UK this would be from £4k upwards depending on the car
I paid £8k for full car prep. Full car ppf including all trims, ceramic coating full car including wheels
Fantastic video lads 😯
Educational and the way forward 👍
Interested to see what this would look like on Agate Grey! Is there a version that just has the flakes without the pigment?
the color outdoor looks almost like Honda green from the 98-02... indoors the reflections are insane tho!
Gorgeous
This is so cool damn
PPF is still a wrap and it's a clear protection to the paint and the colored wrap .. so wrap will never disappear
Just a little concept for you. PPF is PPF, wrap is wrap.
PPF is PPF - Vinyl is Vinyl - And then you wrap the car with either one
@@ForensicDetailing
I would agree if the color palette was infinite but it's not so there is still a place for vinyl
10:14 mins what happen to the bonnet? Doesn't pop as the rest of the PPF

I really don't know m8. But we will compare film qualities soon.
Vinyl and ppf are two totally different animals. Very few installers are competant at both.
I am really interested in this product. My car already has scratches on the paint, will the color change ppf hide it?
yes mate, hides most light to media swirls. the color change PPF hides a lot more.
What is the point of "protecting the paint" if you are changing the color??? Does PPF come off without damaging the pant under it during removal?
What's the point in protecting the paint? Come on m8 you can answer that one surely
So m8 is supposed to be "mate" if I guessed right as you keep saying it everytime you speak. right? lol@@ForensicDetailing

WOW !! ..Superb Job !!
How is this different from a wrap and how do the costs compare?
Wrap normally for color change Ppf more a protection film

North of 4k m8. Yes can coat, wax, qd it etc. Finish on this film looks really good can get the photometer on it I think
Wraps have never made sense to me. What about condensation ?
very interesting so nuts and bolts how much ball park figure , i know it will vary depending on type of car £££££
Anywhere from £3800 - £5000 depending on the car and the film used
Does look super glossy on those outside shots 👍
Does a car needs to be polished before putting the PPF down ?
depends on the car mate and the customer. But with older cars covered in swirls yes. PPF will hide small stuff though.
