OUR STORY SO FAR:
We are Cory & Kristen Williams and in August 2014 we made the long drive from Southern California to Alaska to move into our new home in Eagle River. Here we’ve had the chance to explore Alaska, experience lots of wild events, meet lots of great people and endure the extreme temperatures that the north is known for. On December 23rd, 2014 we got engaged after our Polar Plunge under the Northern Lights then later married by our favorite lake on May 23rd, 2015. Then on June 23rd, 2016 we had our first child. A baby girl named Chell.

I have to compliment you, Kristen and Corey: I love how you show your life with a new born. And a huge compliment for showing nursing moments without covering everything. And as a mother of two beautiful girls: it all gets easier and you will sleep again.
I agree with you. I think it is was also interesting to see that Kristen covers up completely in public, but not at home when Cory is filming her. I'm sure she is at ease because she knows Cory would never violate her privacy. Trust is a very sweet thing! It makes me feel like we are all welcome guests in their virtual living room! This makes watching their videos a special treat!
Good job on the garden. Start small. Experiment. See what does well and what doesn't. It is rewarding to eat what you've grown.
Chell is growing so quickly! I'm so excited to get to watch her grow and learn along with you both.
It's kind of funny how Kristen is inside watching sports while Corey is outside gardening.
Haha! True!
Societal definitions of parental roles are BS anyway
And I love when she was holding Chell and playing a video game. 👍🏻
Chell looks just like both of you. She's so beautiful!
Vive le Tour!! I'm watching too - My dad and I watch every year every since I was a kid. It's so cool that you're a fan Kristen! I hope Chell becomes one too. We're finally getting to the more interesting stages - Go Tejay!!
Chell is so precious!! Thank you for letting us into your lives, and becoming a part of ours. (Also, I've been thinking this for several videos now - Kristen's sweater is awesome! Where is it from?)
It's nice that you have a metal fence to keep hungry moose away. What a nice gift by David, such a sweet box too, wow! The thought behind it, enjoy the gifts and maybe frame the letter.
Aww it's so cute seeing Chell! Also it'll be nice seeing the progress on the garden. :D
Cory, you should vlog your mail stuff more often! Depending how much you get anyway. At least in my opinion, its interesting to see all the neat little ideas that different people have to send you, either purchased or hand made. I love it :) Even letters would be fun to hear if their writers are okay with them being read in the vlog. I dont know theres just something about it that i love :)
love u guys don't worry about what that one person say bad about u ....a beautiful family and u are living your life and making your self happy. we are just lucky that u allow us in your life thank u for what you do
Chell is really pretty
I hope she grows up to be even prettier
No wonder Kristen had a hard time walking. Chell is a big baby. A note to Cory, container gardens work very well. You could build container boxes, (look at raised beds also) around the periphery of the deck for next year's garden and not have to worry about the moose. Here's a link for an example. www.homedepot.com/b/Outdoors-Garden-Center-Raised-Garden-Beds/N-5yc1vZbx7c
8:20 Holy crap it's Corey without a hat on!
Cory, use any of the mint family (including lemon balm) to rub on your skin to help keep mosquitoes away, it's not toxic and you can use it around Chell. BTW, you really should have put your onions between your different above ground plants, it would have helped to prevent flavor bleed over. Good Luck!
Chell has the sweetest face. She's got a healthy pair of lungs, too! You guys are such wonderful parents! Kristen looks beautiful. I love that sweater of hers. I wonder if that little enclosure around your plants will be enough to keep the moose from eating it. They could just easily push it over and get to the plants if they really wanted to, couldn't they? I have no idea I'm just thinking out loud. Good luck with the garden, anyway and I hope it yields good results. By the way, watching the Tour de France would put a lot of people to sleep! Seems to do the same thing for Chell! :)
Yea, I just graduated from film school. I basically didn't sleep for a year. It was the passion that kept my class and I awake.
LOL, engineering degree here too and yes the lack of sleep helps prepare you for parenthood ha ha. I remember my last semester of college during finals week, I'd had 5 hrs sleep in 3 days and was crawling in bed to get a few hours sleep before handing in my senior design project the next morning...and the tornado siren went off lol.
Your baby is beautiful! Not too much longer until you will be able to sleep longer at night :). About 2 months old or so.
If you took the fence apart at the hinges, you could have gotten double the gardening space by setting it against the side of the house or an enclosure. :) Just a thought.
Have you thought of buying the magic suit. It is made for babies and they sleep better. Also what about white noise. If you play it, it sounds like the noise inside the womb. It helps them to sleep better. I know you get so many suggestions and I usually do not intervene, but I really believe in these items. Take care and Chell is beautiful!!!!
Wood handle tools come with laquer on them which causes blisters. Sand the handle and coat with boiled linseed oil. Your hands will thank you for it.
We have a small garden that size, with tomatoes, Persian cucumbers, mint waiting for it to grow so that we can them! Your baby actually doesn't like big, she looks like a small little chubby cute little baby tho, she is very good and sleeps good, looks like mom takes good care of her and so do u!!!
You guys will make great parents
Fussiness after feeding could be a result of what Kristin is eating. I breast fed 3 babies and for me.... it was tomato, lettuce ,(anything green really) broccoli, and for one of them anything dairy I ingested. Start small and try to think of something you've been eating a lot of. Cut it out and see how she does for 3 consecutive feedings... trial and error but I guarantee its something your probably eating. **Note: you can slowly add these things back in as she grows in the coming weeks its just because she is so young and sensitive. :-) Keep trudging on though! It does get easier!!!
What was the music in the background when Kristen was talking about engineering? It was so relaxing!!
It's hard word. The hardest thing in the world. The sleep deprivation is like torture but you wouldn't have it any other way. My youngest didn't sleep through for 14 months. She was up 3/4 times a night at least. I never left her, I always got up to see if she was ok, hungry, just needed to feel safe. Some people criticised me, told me i should leave her and she'd 'learn to sleep through' HELL NO!! If she needs me, I'm there like a shot. Now at 18 months she sleeps through. I didn't do that, she did. She's the happiest little girl. It's so hard, it's so exhausting, but it's so worth it xxxx
It's hard, not it's hard word!! Xx
Glad she is sleeping through. I am serious when I say this...my youngest did not sleep through the night until he was about 10 or 11...but even when he got bigger he would just play in there. That is when I found out he was hyperactive LOL
+simply danLrene well I relate to that too a bit! Eldest is 10 in August and I put her to bed at 8 but she's usually playing about in her room until 10pm...needs the loo, scared of something, thirsty etc! It doesn't ever stop. Then she'll be going out one day with her friends and I'll be sitting at home worried sick 😩
Tammy Key true. We do not ever quit being a parent. It changes a little but we don't quit. I had to make my son understand when he became a teen that me telling him to be careful when he went out was not insulting him or acting like I thought he could not do. It was a mama thing and I do it to this day but he knows now.
now that you have the watermelon planted the vines are going to go nuts. same with the pumpkins when you plant them. once they get room they kind of explode
Cory i love this vlogs so much just a question? is Chell listening to music cause if not she should it trenendously develops both the ears and the mind
So glad she like the blanket I sent.
The fact you have three plus zucchini plants is terrifying. Do you know how much zucchini one plant makes? My boyfriend's mom has two plants, and she can't pick them fast enough before she's buried in the stuff (half the time, we give them to goats/chickens). And the plants are for her and her parents, so three families (grandparents, parents, and my family) can survive off two plants.
(I'm slowly catching up, only have a few more months to go!)
im so happy for you guys i love youre show i cant what till you post and p.s the nexed fvlog should br 30 minets
ur baby she is soooooo cute love her
You need to build a small fenced in garden ..!
You're one beautiful family.
Chell looks a lot like her daddy, yes?
They say many of us resemble our fathers at birth ... I surely did.
Hey! I'm an engineer too! I totally agree on learning to cope with little sleep. I studied electrical engineering at Oregon State University before moving here to Alaska, and the homework and time involved with studying was ridiculous.
I love your baby
That Was funny when he rubs the baby's forehead and she stops
I should work for my bachelor thesis but all I can think of is your intro song :D Way up North ...
Mmmm bear paw....almost fair food 😍. Hopefully the rain will hold off.
Cory- I know you've explained about you hair before...why you wear your hat all the time... But I think you look great without your hat. I was like AHH why did he put the hat on. LOL
Can he not like fence off part of his garden? So moose don't get into it? Like actual fencing, not just a dog pen? :)
Sleeping is a real thing of the lacking side when you have babies but I got lucky some how and mine would sleep at night not much during the day but my first child had colic so no matter what time day or night it was he cried and cried and cried and I felt I was doing something wrong,in reality I wasnt but now he is 10 he will be 11yrs old soon but he was my hardest baby who had me prepared for the lack of sleep for the rest of my kids (which they slept)
watermelons need more space! but good job anyway!
Yay good for you, diy watermelons so u dont have to pay 500 dollars for one! Talk to your plants.. Tell the baby growing watermelon plants u love them It works.
He's so damn good looking
out in the valley they store the rides :) so they stay in Ak
There is a big difference between "80% larger than" and "larger than 80% of". One would mean that if the norm was 10", she'd be 18" (80% larger) where as what you meant was that 80% of others her age are smaller (even if they are smaller by just a small amount).
you are all so beautiful :) about this being stuck for sleep - I remember you were going to get a baby carrier (the scarf-like one), it has some options for the infants, so you'll be able to move around with Chell wrapped nicely to you :) look the tutorials up on UA-cam)
ps Chell is so freaking adorable ^_^
I'm going to be in Alaska next week!
stalker much
+Kristen _ thanks! Maybe I might see y'all while I'm in Alaska!
Will you be the Mommie-Daddy when Kristen goes back to work?
Kristen! I think it's awesome that you're a civil engineer. My boyfriend is a civil engineer (Sigma Phi Delta! ΣΦΔ!), and when we were in Uni, I saw the unbelievable amount of work that went into that degree (seriously, the science alone that goes into concrete, my god). So I think it's so cool that Chell has one kick ass engineer mom to look up to :D Love from Alberta, Canada!
don't always think because they are big when little will be big older my youngest was 9 pounds and 22 inches long. she only stands 5 foot and is small.
She should be wearing a girdle to help shape/put everything back in place.
Dam I was 10 pounds 6 oz when I was born, plus 2 feet long. I'm sorry Mother
Your wife and daughter are beautiful
The rides are the same every year.... same thing since I was born..
Thanks for the gardening tips! I do have a solid plan for the spacing issue though. You'll see! :)
:)
cory
thanks for the reply, your garden looks better than mine can't wait to see what you do thanks for sharing take care.
Ok I have been researching growing food for a while and what I can say is you don't need a lot or a lot of work google or youtube Back to Eden Organic Garden - Back to Eden Film and step holzer hugelkultur. You will thank me. No digging required. :) last 2 decades no till no maintenance.
Your plants look great, the feeling of seeing seed grow into plants that grow veggies and then cooking dinner out of them is just so rewarding. I have to grow my plants in big pots because I have no garden, so one cheap trick I do is not buying planting pots but buying cheap, big buckets and just drilling in some holes for drainage. Maybe this way you can keep some plants safe from the moose ;) You could also tape 3 sticks into a ┻━┻ and stick it into one pot or connect 2 pots to help them climb, cucumbers really like that. No matter how it will turn out, your first self-grown veggies will taste amazing :)
ur baby is so kawaii hope that God helps her in the future
"amazing little kisses! that or she thinks i have a nipple on my neck..." omg i cant stop laughing. my neice did that and i didnt know what it was until my sister told me. lol and now im gonna be a ftm in little under 47 days xD
I'm glad you enjoyed the package Cory, Kristen and Chell! Take care and thanks for all you do! ;)
That was awesome, David! Well done.
+Katie Storer Thanks Katie!
David Bozard
thank-you for sharing that gift with the rest of us.you are a special friend.
Nice package, David!
Hit us up next time you're around (via email)!
This is so cool, becoming a father is really changing Cory. He seems so much more mature and manly since Chell's birth, it is like all his facial features have changed, he has a glow to him. Never knew all that nurturing changed men as much as it does women. So awesome :)
Just wanted to say Chell is so beautiful. You guys are doing great. Every time I watch the vlogs I smile the whole time because of how happy and positive you and Kristen are. Have a wonderful day! 😄
Thank you! You too!
Kirsten's a civil engineer?! In Alaska?! Congrats!!
It's a pretty darn good job!
Bearpaw Festival sounds like the most Alaskan festival there is haha. Chell is such a beautiful addition to your already beautiful family, and I'm so excited that you're giving us the opportunity as viewers just to watch her grow up. You guys are amazing. Don't for get that! ❤️
Thanks!
DudeLikeHELLA No problem man! :)
Thank you!
You don't always have to be quiet around a baby, that is the best time to do chores
My dad was very neurotic and "taught" me to love the vacuum cleaner. He would purposefully do that while I slept so I would not be afraid and be able to sleep through it.
I made so much noise when my kids were babies and they have always slept through anything thankfully.
Kristen was sleeping too. She was the one I was more concerned about. Neither of us get much sleep these days.
Wait a minute! 36 inches around her head? My waist is 36 inches, that can't be right. CM maybe?
I was just thinking that! I was like wait ... no he read that wrong no way her head is not bigger around then her length. Hopefully he'll clear that up on the next one.
They measure in cm... I'm sure he just made a mistake and its 36cm circumference of her head :)
has to be cm. what lack of sleep will do for ya
I heard it too, , maybe 16 inches? Still a little big
36cm head circumference is about what newborns have (usually about 34-38cm). so ye, I'm pretty sure that was in cm ;)
Chelle you are so gorgeous with two great parents I'm so happy I get to watch you grow in these hella vlogs :P love from Michelle in Australia :) xo
50 days and counting until I get to meet my little girl. Been watching your vlogs for years and now watching your vlogs now makes me so excited. Can't wait to be a mom!
Best of luck to you! I will be a mom in 3.5 weeks! :) These vlogs have been awesome! :)
I was particularly impressed with Kristens delivery. So calm... That's a whole lot different than the screaming at the top of your lungs as in movies for example. It makes the whole process bearable, instead of horrific.
29 days here! It was really awesome that they were comfortable enough to post the birth itself. Kristen definitely set a high precedence for the rest of us...lol
Also nice to see the natural birth experience for those of us who will be unable to experience it personally. C-sections or vaginal, moms are just amazing for all they go through in the hospital.
I was due yesterday! can't wait for my little girl to come, these vlogs are not helping my want for her to be here now!
+Brianne Porchak totally agree! I am actually planning a natural birth and watching Kristen inspired me :)
Hello! I seen a previous comment about a pacifier, I have been breastfeeding for the last 4 1/2 years and a pacifier helps IF baby will even take it. When exclusively breastfeeding some babies will refuse anything else. But if you introduce it soon enough it will help in the long run or you end up like me and have babies who want boob for everything that happens. Your boob will become their pacifier. But it's all your choice! Stay strong! Breastfeeding can take A LOT out of you!
plant marigolds around your garden. Animals don't like the smell or taste. try it out.
Works even better if there heirloom marigolds. Not sure how easy they'll be to find in Alaska.
Look after Wilco Kelderman from Lotto-Jumbo team. His soon o be father-in- law John Talen is my cousin. Yes and I am proud. By the way: Beautiful daughter
Wilco kelderman!!! My favourite rider! (im dutch so yeah :p)
You have become my favorite vlog. I have decided that your baby is simply beautiful. Kristen you are so right. No sleep it seems the first three months but then seems like around the fourth month a turning happens and they sleep longer. But it is so worth it. I learned to nap when my sons napped LOL. My boys were big like her and my youngest son was 22 inches long and is very tall. Just a thought...have you ever pumped just to see how much milk you are producing? I had to supplement one child with a formula bottle as I just did not produce like I should but I still breast fed. But he was not getting enough to fill him up.
Cory just a suggestion as we are avid gardeners. Maybe next time or you can rearrange when you feel like it...put the vine ones next to the fence as you can tie the vines to the fence so they grow grow upward. We actually grow our squash in 5 gallon containers and our cucumbers, pumpkins etc and just hook them to the fence. We are in CO...the land of rocky dirt ..really bad rocky and dryness ...so we had to learn to improvise as we came from GA which is big gardening areas.
Cory I'm so happy for you guys don't worry about if any one says that things get graphic or too personal you guys are doing great! It warms my heart!💖
Cucumbers like to climb things and spread out a ton. You may want to move the one that is not close to the fence closer to the fence so it can climb it
Soo... when are you going to start doing a series of parenting videos and call it "Dad Like Hella"?
Oh Cory... most of those are vine plants and they will take over your little garden and take over each other.
Exactly. That area isn't even big enough for the watermelon plant.
I know. I've got an idea to control that.
Thank you for continuing to vlog even when you guys are probably tired as hell(a). Get my pun??? no okay...
HA! No problem. It's what we do. :)
+DudeLikeHELLA I love your videos and your baby is sooooooo cute!!!!
I don't know what it is, but as a long time viewer, I love feeling the way your channel shifts feelings. It's quiet nice seeing Kristen vlog, with such ease; it really adds something wholesome.
Also, props to David for such a gift.
Love from Australia!
+DudeLikeHELLA You are doing great at gardening!! One tip...Moose are crazy huge and if you don't put some kind of cover (like bird netting) over the top they will be able to eat everything! Just have fun! Love your videos! God Bless!
36 in head circumference? That's got to be a mistake.
I suspect it should be 36 cm. 36 inches circumference would mean an almost 12 inch diameter, so, uh, no.
It's normal that your baby girl is bigger than most, since you are, Cory. 9/10 girls take after the father and 9/10 boys take after the mother. So when big guys and tiny girls have kids, the boys are usually small and the girls are usually big.
What IS unusual is how beautiful Kristin looked throughout the pregnancy (at least according to Italian folklore). Italians have been predicting sex of the child for millenia by how the woman looks during the pregnancy. If it's a boy, mom usually glows and becomes more beautiful as the pregnancy goes on. If it's a girl, she becomes haggard. They say that the girl "steals" the woman's beauty to become a beauty herself. Using this folklore, I have correctly predicted sex of the baby 100&...until now. I totally missed it with your baby. Way to skew the experiment guys!
This had me wondering if your daughter is going to be one of the "ones we have been waiting for"...the more Universe-citizen types, displaying more love, fairness, intelligence, etc.
Working hard is essentially a fruitful experience. Whether or not it's to study for exams, to do some chores, or to look after the baby. Good job Cory and Kristen, for working hard all this time.
In 1990 my husband and I left Washington, D.C. where we each worked - without knowing each other. We went to Fairbanks to college and meet there. We were inseparable since then. We had one baby in Fairbanks and one baby in Kodiak... and my hubby had to join the Coast Guard to support us. Over the course of our time we've had to leave Alaska - kicking and screaming... but we left. I have only recently discovered your journey and I have gone back to watch your love affair with each other, Alaska, and your beautiful new baby. It has been wonderful to watch your journey b/c it so mirrors what we went through 25 years ago! Thank you for sharing your life we us.
You will go on the rides when she is older. :P I did with my son and still do. I have some videos on my channel about that. The traveling carnivals are so awesome! I have been going to them once or twice a year for more than a decade. Never have been hurt or even scared I would be hurt. :D
My son was a little nervous the first time on the carousel but now that is his favorite thing and he also loves the band organs. He wants to build his own band organ and collect them into a museum when he is older. Little things you don't even think of can turn into big things for your children. I know you both will give her a ton of cool experiences so she can find what resonates with her. :D
- Heidi
I hope you have a minute to answer even tho this is off subject, how are Blake, Lucinda and Liam? Have they been able to visit the new addition yet? I miss them and I am sure you do too if you have the time to actually miss anyone. I do hope they are well.
having fun watching your vlogs. You are both great Parents.
Kisses from Israel for Chell ;-^
+DudeLikeHELLA When I was born I was 22" long and now I'm 5'1 and I'm not even a teen yet so Chell is going to be a tall girl
Aww... I like the Cory/Kristen sections. And that little Sparta glimpse at the end. Sweet.
cory and Kristen
your garden looks great but there is only one thing I want to ask you about, don't you think that momma moose can reach over the fence? oh well she's got to eat too. Kristen you're doing a awesome job with Chell Marie she's a beautiful baby. thanks for sharing.
Hey DudeLikeHELLA family!!!!!! I love all you guys and your videos
I'm glad to see you guys aren't being super quiet around Chell when she sleeps anymore! When shes a few months old and can sleep anywhere, you'll thank yourselves! haha
My baby girl is 32 pounds I'm still pregnant with her and she is so long that she wears a size Toddler 2 clothes! 👍
I feel ya, Cory. We have deer, rabbits, raccoons, squirrels, etc. Someone may have already suggested this. And I don't know if it will work with moose or not, but Irish Spring Soap drives the deer away from my tender crops and my fruit trees. It is a cheap experiment if you get desperate. It also helps with rabbits, but not as well.
Baby and Mama look great! This too shall pass (all too quickly).
they also don't like the smell of moth balls.
I can tell you guys are great parents
i love how ive just barely discovered this channel but already im lovin how pure Corey is just like
"I love that (*points at blanket*). And I love that (*points at baby*). And I love that (*points at wife*) "
Alex Ramirez-Mahoney sweet!
Yeah those kisses are gonna end up looking like a "hickey". and I'm pretty sure her head isn't 36 inches. maybe centimeters.
I meant centimeters.
she's great isn't she? I have 5 girls and everyone of them have me wrapped up. with my son's it's not so much. wait til she starts walking and gets her first boo-boo. your liable to start crying yourself. trust me on that one.
"99% bigger than most babies." = Bigger than 99% babies, right? :D
My favorite thing is when you put your hand on Chell's head and she stops crying for a moment. It's so cute!
You guys are awesome!! Seriously with every single new vlog I love you guys even more :)
you guys are amazing!! I can't say enough how happy I am for you all!
When my son was a wee one, he would not go to sleep unless I sang to him. I always, every nap and bed time, sing "I love you for always". But then I'll add in any of my favorite songs. I still rock and sing him to sleep and he just turned 4. It is one of our favorite parts of our day!
More power to those who want kids and want to do this. It's not something I ever want to do.
