Rescued a tiny4 week old kitten that had either been thrown or fallen into a sewer at a gas station. I had to climb down into the sewer to get her, but through the magic of food, a carrier, and a rope it close it caught her from where she was stuck. I guess it's worth mentioning she's also a black cat? We ended up naming her Lucy Lucky Duck and she's now 9 yrs old and the sweetest cat and defender of our home as our watch cat. I don't know what model Jeep you drive, but maybe Renegade Lucky Mittens? That's of course if he responds to those names. Ours all end up with more names, but believe it or not they all come when you call their various names.
Just gotta say, Cory ... I've been watching you since your 'Mean Kitty' days back in 2008. Watching you grow, and especially seeing the deep and mutual love you've found in Kristen, in your lovely children ... you've gone through so much and yet still remain the soft and sensitive heart that stops traffic to rescue a ball of fluff in need. (Had to laugh at how hard Kristen was was trying NOT to snatch it from you!!)

He was probably 3 months old and was BEGGING to be let in (they couldn't let him in b/c the washateria cat didn't like him - he had been outside of the washateria a few days). I told the attendant, I'd pay for some cat food if she gave me some to feed him. He was so hungry. I sat on the bench while he ate and then he jumped up and rubbed up against me. I had two cats and didn't want another so, when I was leaving, he was at the end of the parking lot with his head hung low. I ran to my car so he wouldn't see me and HE CHASED ME! I left thinking he's so friendly, someone will take him in. I couldn't stop thinking about him. The next morning, I went back before they opened and he was under that bench swatting at mosquitoes. I picked him up, he pressed against me, took him to my car and sat him down in the carrier - he didn't protest one bit. He was so skinny. He was a beautiful orange cat and after a few days of getting some food in him, he rebound. It took longer for him to stop getting scared anytime my hand came near his head (he would prepare to fight back...I knew he had been abused so I stayed patient and he learned to trust me, fully - took about a year). I had a friend who wanted him. I realized then, I couldn't give him up and had to tell her he was no longer available for adoption. Fast forward seven years later, and I love Kirby to the moon and back. He's a HUGE 20# ball of love. He rules the household and that's fine by us. I can't imagine life without him. They pay us back ten-fold in unconditional love. 🥰😻❤
I know this is months late and you probably already picked a name but Angel! Because you found him on the side of the road, in the heat, he is a miracle, an angel. That’s just what came to mind 😊🐈
Three months late, but wanted to say "thank you" for rescuing the little bean. How about some updates as he grows. Also, I keep replaying the part of Kristen at the door. Her eyes were sparkling, face glowing...she knew that was her kitten now.
make sure to get it a flea bath and some eye drops from a vet if you can! It still looks pretty rough around the eyes and ears, though I'm glad it seems happy otherwise. Thank you for picking it up
17 years ago, my sister was walking home after school. She was walking to visit our grandmother on the way (bless her soul) and noticed something in the middle of the road. It turned out to be a small kitten. It could have been 4-5 weeks old. It was covered in gasoline and had a broken tail in two places. She put it in her beanie. After a visit to the vet, it turned out that only the tail was damaged. After several visits, it was possible to save 2/3 of the tail. It also turned out that it was a purebred cat! Norwegian Forest. My sister named him Lolek. A little mischief maker. Character strong. It's from a Polish cartoon for small children. The energy matched. Now, after 17 years, the cat is doing very well and is the king of the neighborhood. And his character has mellowed, too. We can't imagine the family without this lucky little guy. I like Rhodes/Rhodey. It's more unique than Lucky, Boots, Mittens, etc. I'd also suggest looking at the names of the street/intersection you found him at. Thank you for stopping and saving him! He surely would not have made it without you. Make sure a vet looks him over before introducing him to the other cats as he likely has parasites and may need his eyes treated. I saved a kitten off an overpass in the same way and he had mange, fleas, parasites, and ringworm.

my aunt rescued a cat that she saw people throw in a dumpster and gave him to us. we werent sure how old he was but he was the sweetest cat ever and we had him for 6 years. it's been about 5 years since hes passed I still can't get over him. he didn't care what you did to him as long as he got attention (sliding him across the floor for example lol)

My baby boy, Trouble, started life in almost the same way. My husband found this tiny 5 week old kitten in the parking lot before he started his shift. Picked up the kitten, told his coworker he'd be right back and walked home. I thought he had forgotten his wallet or something when he came back and said, "I found something and we're keeping it." I, being the typical cat lady, pretty much squealed when I saw him. He became the 4th feline family member and now, at 9 years old and 25 lbs... I'd say he's been very spoiled. Congrats on your new family member!
We named our stray cat that has white socks and that we rescued from our barn, Boots. Then we found out it was a girl and wanted it to be a little more feminine so she is officially Bootsy 😊 We weren’t planning on bringing Bootsy inside but after feeding her for 2 months and her getting attacked by the local racoons we couldn’t leave her outside. She now is super well acclimated, purrs almost as soon as you pet her, meows demandingly for her food, and nuzzles into your love ❤

You did what not many would do and thank you for saving his/her life. Which ever name comes, hope they have a great life with someone if not your family. We've had strays come by our house for years and a few stuck close so kinda became out outdoor cats. One of the first that showed was pretty young, not small kitten young like that one but maybe a year or 2. I just kept calling him Kitten all they way until he passed away. We also had Panda, Mr Bones, Fluffy and Smokey.
imho, you can't expect that. As someone who had a Tigger, I learned to remember her...not expect the same from another. We need to appreciate what we have in front of us, not expect what we want to make them. That's Life, and that's Love. She taught me a whole lot about that! js
I rescued a kitten, mid last year, she was stuck in the AC Handler where I work. Tried rehoming her and no one wanted her. I ended up being her furever home and I am so happy she found her way into my life. Her name is Bruja and she’s bougie, sassy, and oh so spicy.

It reminded me of the name of a cat my aunt and uncle ended up with years ago. She worked at a vet’s office, and upon returning home one day she and my uncle discovered that there was a kitten that had managed to make the same trip home. They named it Hitch.

OMG! My heart! I'm so thankful that you were able to get him safe...you were there at the right time for sure. He is so adorable and is purrfect for your family. He looks so comfortable. How about the names Blaze, Cinder, or Dash. I rescued a 14 yr old version of this little guy a few weeks ago. I was driving to a memorial service at a cat sanctuary I volunteer with and on my way I decided to take a different road. Then I saw a skinny cat walking along the shoulder. He looked at me as I was getting closer and I could see he needed help. I did the same thing...stopped, hazards and got out to get him. He meowed at me and then laid down in the loaf position. I had bicycle riders stopping to see if I was okay and other cars and I was like just another day in rescue world...going to get this cat. I went back to the car found a box and took the dog blanket from backseat and went back. He didnt move. I just swaddled him up and put him in the box then called the sanctuary saying I was coming with a cat. He is a lovebug and there was evidence he was dumped...had a shaved spot where blood was taken. The sanctuary did the FIV/FELV test and he came up positive immediately. So now he is living happily in the FIV suite. I get to see him today and cant wait. His name is Franklin.
Cory did a really good thing saving that kitten. He has a good heart in him which is a really good thing. I know what saving animals is like because I kind of (the reason why i say kind of is because there were a few people before me that saw the dog) saved a Border Collie that was out in the country. The dog was in a area where coyotes and cougars are at and I just couldn't leave the dog out there all by itself.

My vote is for socks, but make sure you get him to the vet because the running eyes are a symptom of upper respiratory infection, and that can get your other kitties sick. Alot of kittens get that because their immune symptoms are not good yet.

I had a 5 week old kitten run in front of my car on a busy freeway in California. I named him Freeway. I had another rescue that was really tiny and I called her Itty Bitty Kitty. If she liked something, I said it passed the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee.

Our tabby boy is named Viggo. We got him when he was really little, along with his litter mate sister, MooMoo. They will turn 18 this September. I named him Viggo, after the actor Viggo Mortensen because I loved his character in Lord of The Rings 'Strider'. Our Viggo had definitely taken everything in 'stride' throughout his life. He's been struggling with mild chronic kidney disease the past two years. But he doesn't give up. Anyways, it's always good to see what feels right as far as names go. His sister was originally named Samara, but we kept calling her MooMoo, because she's mostly white with some spots. She's hanging in there too. My youngest cat, Mia, is only a year younger than those two. I'm so glad you and your family were able to save this little sweetie!

Your story is similar to our Scotti. Almost 4 years ago, it was about 98 degrees out and my husband and I went to Foster's Grille to hang out. There were some girls doing a car wash at the Grille as a fund raiser so we were watching them washing out cars, and all of a sudden, we saw this itty bitty kitty darting out from under a nearby dumpster. You could see that the pavement heat was burning her paws, and was so miserable. She was trying to get under some shade of the shadow of the dumpster doors on the pavement, but wouldn't stay there. I thought she belonged to one of the girls, so I ran out to one the parents and asked who did the kitten belong to. The mother said it showed up while they were out there. My husband immediately tried to woo the kitten to us, but she was too scared to trust. Even the Grille staff tried. After 15 mins, we left wishing the best. During all of this, we found out that one of the moms and I had a mutual friend, so we took a picture and it was posted on FB. An hour later, I get a message from my friend saying that the mom caught the kitten and for us to come back. We zoomed over there and got the kitten. We named her Scotti after the bar owner, and because my husband is a Trekkie Nerd, LOL!
So wonderful! It reminds me of when I found my current cat 14 years ago. She was on the side of the road when I was riding the moped. She had oil in her fur and the front paws was burnt and there was a glove next to her. I think she might have gotten stuck in an engine and someone had thrown her out there. The vet thought she was about 5-6 weeks old. We reported her as missing to the police, but no one missed her, and the rest is history! :) I think he looks like a Alistair :)

As a mom to 3 cats, one who has a rescued kitten (not even 5 months yet) I am absolutely in TEARS watching this poor little baby. I remember the days when Juniper (my kitten) was this tiny. Frail, uncertain, barely able to walk...and my heart just goes to him. He needs a strong, warrior name. He beat the odds and was saved by beautiful people with big hearts. My heart was aching too watching this. I live in Tulsa and there were 5 kittens abandoned at my church. I found good homes for four of them. The 5th one claimed me, is right at 16 weeks old and lives with me and my other three kittens. I have been following Cory since is Mean Kitty days because it has been apparent from the beginning. He has such a huge heart!

Poor baby!!! I am so glad you found him. He is in such good loving healing hands. It is a sad state of affairs here in Tulsa. There were 5 kittens dumped at my church 5 weeks ago. I fostered them into my home. I found good homes for 4 of them and a super great home for the 5th one. He now lives with me and my other 3 cats. I now have the cutest tabby kitten on the planet named Groot!😅

Coincidentally, my neighbor’s little daughters found a kitten and of course adopted it not too long ago, despite my neighbor having cat allergies. Last Friday, I was invited to hang out with the neighbor, who’s been recovering from a recent surgery. I got to meet the playful (and gassy) kitten, and at one point he went up to my face and booped me! I felt blessed with the adorable kitty boop! 🥰

my aunt rescued a cat that she saw people throw in a dumpster and gave him to us. we werent sure how old he was but he was the sweetest cat ever and we had him for 6 years. it's been about 5 years since hes passed I still can't get over him. he didn't care what you did to him as long as he got attention (sliding him across the floor for example lol)

My baby boy, Trouble, started life in almost the same way. My husband found this tiny 5 week old kitten in the parking lot before he started his shift. Picked up the kitten, told his coworker he'd be right back and walked home. I thought he had forgotten his wallet or something when he came back and said, "I found something and we're keeping it." I, being the typical cat lady, pretty much squealed when I saw him. He became the 4th feline family member and now, at 9 years old and 25 lbs... I'd say he's been very spoiled.

We named our stray cat that has white socks and that we rescued from our barn, Boots. Then we found out it was a girl and wanted it to be a little more feminine so she is officially Bootsy 😊 We weren’t planning on bringing Bootsy inside but after feeding her for 2 months and her getting attacked by the local racoons we couldn’t leave her outside. She now is super well acclimated, purrs almost as soon as you pet her, meows demandingly for her food, and nuzzles into your love ❤

You did what not many would do and thank you for saving his/her life. Which ever name comes, hope they have a great life with someone if not your family. We've had strays come by our house for years and a few stuck close so kinda became out outdoor cats. One of the first that showed was pretty young, not small kitten young like that one but maybe a year or 2. I just kept calling him Kitten all they way until he passed away. We also had Panda, Mr Bones, Fluffy and Smokey.

imho, you can't expect that. As someone who had a Tigger, I learned to remember her...not expect the same from another. We need to appreciate what we have in front of us, not expect what we want to make them. That's Life, and that's Love. She taught me a whole lot about that! js
I rescued a kitten, mid last year, she was stuck in the AC Handler where I work. Tried rehoming her and no one wanted her. I ended up being her furever home and I am so happy she found her way into my life. Her name is Bruja and she’s bougie, sassy, and oh so spicy.

I kind of like Roadie. It reminded me of the name of a cat my aunt and uncle ended up with years ago. She worked at a vet’s office, and upon returning home one day she and my uncle discovered that there was a kitten that had managed to make the same trip home. They named it Hitch.

OMG! My heart! I'm so thankful that you were able to get him safe...you were there at the right time for sure. He is so adorable and is purrfect for your family. He looks so comfortable. How about the names Blaze, Cinder, or Dash. I rescued a 14 yr old version of this little guy a few weeks ago. I was driving to a memorial service at a cat sanctuary I volunteer with and on my way I decided to take a different road. Then I saw a skinny cat walking along the shoulder. He looked at me as I was getting closer and I could see he needed help. I did the same thing...stopped, hazards and got out to get him. He meowed at me and then laid down in the loaf position. I had bicycle riders stopping to see if I was okay and other cars and I was like just another day in rescue world...going to get this cat. I went back to the car found a box and took the dog blanket from backseat and went back. He didnt move. I just swaddled him up and put him in the box then called the sanctuary saying I was coming with a cat. He is a lovebug and there was evidence he was dumped...had a shaved spot where blood was taken. The sanctuary did the FIV/FELV test and he came up positive immediately. So now he is living happily in the FIV suite. I get to see him today and cant wait. His name is Franklin.

Cory did a really good thing saving that kitten. He has a good heart in him which is a really good thing.
I know what saving animals is like because I kind of (the reason why i say kind of is because there were a few people before me that saw the dog) saved a Border Collie that was out in the country. The dog was in a area where coyotes and cougars are at and I just couldn't leave the dog out there all by itself.

My vote is for socks, but make sure you get him to the vet because the running eyes are a symptom of upper respiratory infection, and that can get your other kitties sick. Alot of kittens get that because their immune symptoms are not good yet.

I had a 5 week old kitten run in front of my car on a busy freeway in California. I named him Freeway. I had another rescue that was really tiny and I called her Itty Bitty Kitty. If she liked something, I said it passed the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee.

We may never meet, but all the good wishes from continent across 🫶
Our tabby boy is named Viggo. We got him when he was really little, along with his litter mate sister, MooMoo. They will turn 18 this September. I named him Viggo, after the actor Viggo Mortensen because I loved his character in Lord of The Rings 'Strider'. Our Viggo had definitely taken everything in 'stride' throughout his life. He's been struggling with mild chronic kidney disease the past two years. But he doesn't give up.
Anyways, it's always good to see what feels right as far as names go. His sister was originally named Samara, but we kept calling her MooMoo, because she's mostly white with some spots. She's hanging in there too. My youngest cat, Mia, is only a year younger than those two.

Your story is similar to our Scotti. Almost 4 years ago, it was about 98 degrees out and my husband and I went to Foster's Grille to hang out. There were some girls doing a car wash at the Grille as a fund raiser so we were watching them washing out cars, and all of a sudden, we saw this itty bitty kitty darting out from under a nearby dumpster. You could see that the pavement heat was burning her paws, and was so miserable. She was trying to get under some shade of the shadow of the dumpster doors on the pavement, but wouldn't stay there. I thought she belonged to one of the girls, so I ran out to one the parents and asked who did the kitten belong to. The mother said it showed up while they were out there. My husband immediately tried to woo the kitten to us, but she was too scared to trust. Even the Grille staff tried. After 15 mins, we left wishing the best. During all of this, we found out that one of the moms and I had a mutual friend, so we took a picture and it was posted on FB. An hour later, I get a message from my friend saying that the mom caught the kitten and for us to come back. We zoomed over there and got the kitten. We named her Scotti after the bar owner, and because my husband is a Trekkie Nerd, LOL!

She had oil in her fur and the front paws was burnt and there was a glove next to her. I think she might have gotten stuck in an engine and someone had thrown her out there.
The vet thought she was about 5-6 weeks old. We reported her as missing to the police, but no one missed her, and the rest is history! :)

As a mom to 3 cats, one who has a rescued kitten (not even 5 months yet) I am absolutely in TEARS watching this poor little baby. I remember the days when Juniper (my kitten) was this tiny. Frail, uncertain, barely able to walk...and my heart just goes to him. He needs a strong, warrior name. He beat the odds and was saved by beautiful people with big hearts. I wish you guys all the best. Chell and Atlas are SO big now. I can't even believe how much she's turned into a mini Kristen. xo
My heart was aching too watching this. I live in Tulsa and there were 5 kittens abandoned at my church. I found good homes for four of them. The 5th one claimed me, is right at 16 weeks old and lives with me and my other three kittens. I have been following Cory since is Mean Kitty days because it has been apparent from the beginning. He has such a huge heart!

Poor baby!!! I am so glad you found him. He is in such good loving healing hands. It is a sad state of affairs here in Tulsa. There were 5 kittens dumped at my church 5 weeks ago. I fostered them into my home. I found good homes for 4 of them and a super great home for the 5th one. He now lives with me and my other 3 cats. I now have the cutest tabby kitten on the planet named Groot!😅

Coincidentally, my neighbor’s little daughters found a kitten and of course adopted it not too long ago, despite my neighbor having cat allergies.
Last Friday, I was invited to hang out with the neighbor, who’s been recovering from a recent surgery. I got to meet the playful (and gassy) kitten, and at one point he went up to my face and booped me! I felt blessed with the adorable kitty boop! 🥰
Oh the little meow at the end.....my heart can't take it!!!
