Exactly my problem and exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you!
Hardest strain of the video was that fart you pushed out 😂🤣 2:48
omg
Thank you for this! Saved me a good night sleep.
goodnight judy
This is so helpful. It explains it all. Be sure you watch to the END. I am a 75 year old woman and I did It. I did not have any indication of the correct breaker
But tried all the “15s” and was successful!! After 12 hours of BEEP I am so happy to have quiet! Thank you so much!!
awesome! great job, i just changed mine too man are the maddening 😅
I'm 15 and I have only got 3 hours of sleep and that chirping sound kept me awake, i don't know how long it has been chirping, but I am seriously considering taking it and removing it from the ceiling and removing the power from it and going back to sleep
Thank you!
Helpful thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Mine was chirping 3 times in like 3 minute cycles. I tried pulling battery, turning off circuit breaker, reset it and it still chirps. I heard they get some contamination inside and this causes it. I blew mine out with compressed air and it still chirps. I bought a new one.
they get dust or a bug will die in there or something gets messed up with the sensor.. I buy new ones every few years
Thanks
What’s that small lone black dot towards the first alert logo?
Here's what happened to me. Bought a brand new First Alert 9120B. It kept chirping one minute apart after I installed it. I thought it was a bad, brand new GP battery that was sent with it. Battery, expiration date was 07/2024, I tested it with a high dollar Fluke Multi-meter and found it had 9.81 Volts. Good battery i thought so i tried it several more times. Then I put a new Duracell battery in it and now it works fine. No clue what is wrong with the GP battery that tested at 9.81 volt.
This is amazing. My detector GP battery also had 9.6V but the detector chirped. I tried all possible ways as I wrote in another comment and it didn't work until I replaced it with another new battery I bought that measured 9.5V, and it worked. I would have bought a new detector had I not seen your comment. Thank you.
I had the same issue, my fix was that for each alarm that was blinking green, I pressed and held the test button, then they went solid green and no more chirping!
I fixed it! Thank you!!!!
you are the best
Did someone else notice the fart 💨 he dropped at minute 2:47 🤣
WHAT!
Yep
The way his finger presses on the alarm when he’s pushing his fart out 💀💀
That shit was funny as fuck
Lmaooooooo
Was that a fart @ 2:47?? LMAO!!!
how did this happen
He totally farted lol
🤣🤣🤣
I bought a 2 pack brand new alarm just like yours and it was chirping for 5 minutes. After that, it stopped. It must be on test mode or something. No problems since then.
Thanks for the video. Unfortunately I seem to have a different problem with the First Alert - Model No. 9120B. I determined the old smoke detector (same model) was bad and ordered a replacement from Amazon. First Alert helped me install it. It worked for 2 weeks and last night it started chirping. I spent 2 hours with First Alert support today. After finally removing the smoke detector and putting it inside my garage, I continue to hear chirping every 60 seconds from inside the ceiling. Is there a backup chirper inside the mounting bracket. I need for this noise to stop. I have the breaker turned off and the ceiling area is still chirping even though the circuit is turned off and the smoke alarm itself is sealed off with no battery in my garage. First Alert tells me this is impossible. The old unit behaved the same way. I didn't replace the mounting bracket when I installed the new smoke detector 2 weeks ago.
remove the battery... then press the button to DRAIN the charge in the detector.. it should make noise and then stop... then install with AC and then install the battery. if it doesn't work then return and buy a KIDDIE and see if that works
Thank you for the video. It's very easy to follow. I have probably 10 of them around the house and only one of them went off this morning. I followed your instructions to check it out. The battery has 9.6V. There's no issue with the circuit breaker because there are other devices using the same circuit and they are all good. I took it down from the ceiling and it still chirped, so I know it's the detector. I cleaned the sensor first with canned air and later with alcohol but it's still not working, so it has to be a bad detector. I will follow the link if I order a replacement.
I read from another comment that replacing the battery worked. I tried and it worked even the old GP battery was 9.6V.
I have this exact detector. Mine is not chirping, but full on beeping, then sets the others off for just a few seconds, then stops. I have cleaned them, changed the batteries, reset them, but they randomly just go off. It will be fine for a day, then does it randomly. Any idea why?
great pic i love your eyes.. no idea... the reset means --- i forgot the details.. something like remove from power. remove batteries. press reset and hold to drain remaining power in circuit. power back up with AC... then install the batteries
This is happening to me too right now, were you able to find a solution?
Ours just started doing the same thing. Any solutions yet?
Mines doing the same thing any hope?
Same! It’s 2:30am because mine just beeped twice and woke me up from my sleep. There’s no such thing in the manual for 2 beeps. 😭😭
The problem I’m having is when the batteries get low they don’t sure all those smoke detectors in the CO detectors go off and start beeping. I don’t get no low battery sharp I just got a red light in the detector indicating to me the battery’s low but the smoke alarms go off and won’t stop until I change the batteries
Worked fine. Thanks for sharing
One thing we learned, never FART 😂😂 close to the detector because it will go off
why are you putting a smoke detector next to your tush?
Anytime someone I know has a problem with their smoke detector I'm sending this to them. Thumbs up for the fart! 🤣
I did all that including replacing the new battery and still chirp...
Me too and still chirping
Same!
Same, I really want the get my hammer at this stage
Did y’all figure it out
@scottmacwatters you guys probably have it sorted by now, but for anyone else having the issue:
1. remove the new battery from the alarm
2. hold down the test button for 30 seconds
3. put the new battery back in and test it to make sure it's good. should make a loud beeping noise.
it's something to do with the residual charge of the old battery still lingering after it's been removed, apparently. hope this helps!
Lmao. Minute 2:46 he farts. Didn't think I heard it right and rewind it. Lmao. Yep. He even stopped talking to let one rip. Lmao. 🤣🤣🤣
how did this happen
All 7 went off today. You really enlightened me because we had no idea. You gave us at least 3 possible reasons. We're going to test all of them. Need new Battery, dust or need a replacement.
Thank you so much.
if all 7 are connected to each other, then yes they would all go off.. thanks for the nice comment
Mine is going off at 7am as well. Very annoying 😓
I have a brand new one, put new battery in it, no dust or construction going on, held it for 30 seconds after disconnecting and taking batter out to drain power completely and it’s still chirping
My apt bldg mgr is super cheap, replaced smoke detector less than a month ago but mine chirps all the time, battery is NOT new I'm sure. Have to keep resetting it. If the smoke detector battery chirps which drives my cat insane & I press the reset button, LOUD, and it stops will the wired smoke detector go off, chirping over & over again? TY!!
hard to say. tell the manager it is chirping and you want to go out and buy a new one and have him install it... he might say he wants to install a new battery or he might be nice and try to fix it. since he is cheap- ask him what you need to buy. they cost about $20 and it might stop the noise
We aren't on speaking terms as I am suing him after going two & a half years without heat, major roach infestation, no mailbox for almost 4 months, on & on. But thank you! I think I'll just let the battery run down & pray that it doesn't chirp after that. Plus buy a couple of small fire extinguishers for inside ofc.@@LEARNINGCHORDS
you dont want to pull the battery . you could replace it with the same model and he will never know or you could call the local FD and ask if they can send someone over.. they actually do this is many cities and will even give you a free detector. or ask a friend or handyman- or move out and get away from that while suing him
@@LEARNINGCHORDS I figure the battery will run down but yes, I have a friend who could replace it for me. Believe me, I'm trying to get the heck out of this place asap. TYSM for your help!
Ours keeps chirping even after removing alarm and battery (always in the middle of the night 😵💫). Chirping sensor is in the wall, so it continues! Ours (all 9) are old. Amazingly have lasted 22 years (FirstAlert BRK 4120B. Apparently, 9120B replaces the old model!) Hope replacing them will solve the problem.
most of these are not good for use after a few years.. they might work, but they don't trigger or detect properly
this helped so much!! thank you!!! no more chirpiing!!!! xD
You're welcome!
ALERT: FART @ 2:48.
chirp
😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the video minus the fart 💨
i detached the smoke detector off the ceiling, but the chirping is coming off the base in the ceiling. Is that possible?
Did you fart during this lol. Thanks for the video
Did this dude fart a few minutes into the video?
did i?
I just thought the same thing. It’s like he pushed his finger on the detector and had his own chirp
😂🤣😂
🤣🤣🤣
2:49 😂😂😂
Wrong. I bought a new unit and that didnt fix the problem. So, there's at least a 4th reason. Calling an electrician. BTW, I turned power off at the breaker box, pulled the battery, drained the capacitor and it's still chirping. Demon possessed.
Idk how to disconnect it :)
turn to remove from ceiling.. pull the plug.. open door remove battery
Why is mine beeping and flashing smoke but there’s no smoke AT ALL n it won’t shut up
beep beep
I have to turn the power off on my fusebox before removing the smoke detector?
there is deadly voltage connected to a smoke detector. you should never work on a live circuit
Anyone ran into a scenario where the beeping is coming from the ceiling and not the detector itself? I replaced my detector with a new one hoping it stops the 5 beeps but to no avail. Anyone?
i will save your butt on this one.. donation link in the video description. 5 BEEPS? do you have one of those C02 detectors in the house? they are usually 10 year battery operated? if you have one,, go there and listen. At end of life they will beep 5 times to let you know you need to throw it away. If you have one. go listen for the beeps. I posted a video on how to stop the beeping and throw it away
@@LEARNINGCHORDS I don’t believe I have a separate c02 detector, the detector in my hallway are both smoke and c02. The ones in the bedroom are only smoke detector. The beeping is from my room even after I turned off the breaker and removed the unit from the ceiling. I looked all around my room and do not find any other unit whatsoever
I had the same problem at 2am i heard 5 beeps.. I had no clue what it was... took me an hour but I covered one ear and moved around the room when I heard it... there was a C02 alarm on the wall. I started to laugh because it was right in front of me and I didn't notice... the c02 and many battery smoke detectors let out 5 beeps which is their end of life signal to destroy it... GOOD luck.. come back and share what it was, when you find the hidden noise
My dog literally has seizures when it goes off… grrr🤬 garbage! They are all going out… house is 7 years old. The ones with carbon dioxide are not $10… more like $37.69 each 😳 Lowes $41.98 😱 just the smoke detectors are about $11.00.
Also, another video took off the cover and sprayed with dust sprayer, turn off power at the electrical panel for safety.
Then make sure you're taking care of them dummy!
it's not the smoke detector's fault for doing its job, do yours!
Mine stopped chirping when I removed the battery. Mine started chirping at 1 am on a work night lol.
Did you have to put it back on or can I just keep the top off once u take out the battery?
Their manual and website has troubleshooting details with the different chirps and light combinations.
it is worthless. they have one green and one red light. you can't tell which unit was triggered and what state it is in even with the info
LEARNINGCHORDS it can be hard to figure out! Mine went off last night and I only had one new 9V but it kept going off in the hallway where I had just removed that battery too but didn’t have a replacement for it yet. Based on the table, the amount of chirps did coincide with the description there of no battery/battery door being open. I finally fixed it but not a good way to wake up at midnight!!
@@LEARNINGCHORDS But it explains what the chirps mean. There's only 3 options: Dead Battery (1 chirp), Chip Malfunction (3 chirps), End of Life (5 chirps). Very purposefully simple is the exact opposite of worthless to me.
Don't buy one of these. They are so sensitive that you can't even boil water without setting it off. There's no adjustment for sensitivity. You need to put them a mile away from anything that even heats up or they will go off. Garbage.
they are doing what they are supposed to do. yes they are sensitive but they are sensing heat and the beginning of a fire. I put a FAN on the floor below it to move the air around when I cook. then I put the fan away
I have the same issue it’s so annoying. I have a pizza and the oven not even defrosted and it’s going off
Same. I have to put a fan on it every time I cook.
Isnt that the whole point of the smoke detector?🥴.
I’ve had these for 4.5 years and that hasn’t happened to me. But my closest detector is down the hall from my kitchen.
how did you take it down
i got on a ladder
@@LEARNINGCHORDS bruh
@@pinacoladatv808 Wow 🤣
Get a ladder or stool and twist it off
@@utw_naz Mine doesn't twist off. It's tamper resistant.
WOW! 3 year old battery?
oh yes
2:50 lmaoo
Did everything you said...still beeping...took down detector ordered a new one!! 67 year old woman!! This dector in canada is 25$ in amazon carbon monoxide one is 67$
these things are terrible
Haha, I just took mine off the wall. The time is 0022 and just removed the battery 🪫 and somehow it’s still chirping! It must have an energy saver at its core. What a stupid device.
there is a way to clear that chirp. I talk about it in my videos
The one and only fix is an adjustment with a 16oz ball been hammer!
The fart 😂
always
Just came to see if I was the only one who heard a poont…. 😂
what is a poont
When I am trying to sleep I am not interested in going through these steps to fix anything. I want to sleep at 2 am not wake up to fix these annoying pieces of crap. If you are in that situation can you just unplug it? This is beyond aggravating. I am not that worried about fire. I am not fire bug. I refuse to deal with these annoying pos's and will just remove them. Period.
Does not work. Brand NEW smoke detector. Brand NEW battery. Cut power, removed from wall. Removed battery. Did this several times with alternative NEW batteries. Kept on chirping. Going psychotic.
return it
Anyone else notice that this dude pauses to fart at 2:48...?
YES
If The detector starts chirping after power outage..just press and hold reset button
thanks miss c
So I've got 5 chirps every 30 seconds
chirp chirp chirp chirp chirp
What a piece of shit product.
normally- i won't approve a comment with cussing- but in this case-- I had to
yoooooooooo did he just FART AT 2:49 lmaooooooo 🤢🤮🤪😂🤣 wooowwww classic… came here to find out about a chirp seems like the chirp was coming from his ass…lmaoooooooo
hahahah i must have laughed 40 seconds reading your comment.. you are a genius
Thanks
