  • Highly recommend using the bottle brush because it bend easy & can clean out several jets at one time. Coat hanger is strong enough just to knock off the outside calcium under the lid. No chemicals needed and no plumber! See home and plant tips ‪@momsmpm‬

    I had the same problem with a toilet from the 60's. I took an Allen wrench and dug into each and every jet. Some holes were almost completely closed off. The L shape made it easy to get at them. Chunks of mineral deposits began to break off. That did the trick.

      That’s a great idea! Don’t you love how the old shit still keeps working fine, with minor problems if you know how to fix them! Ty

      Its actually mold most of the time. it can get pretty nasty inside the water jet cavity.

      @@momsmpm Thanks, I'll try that. Though I'm certain that those hard chunks that came off were mineral deposits and not mold.

    CLR or Lime away also works really well at dissolving buildups. Just put in your tank and also into the refill tube in the tank.

      Never in the tank because it eats the rubber flapper away but always in the overflow pipe! Thanks for the input!

    I just use a metal coat hanger and bend it to fit. The main jet at the bottom of the bowl is usually the most gunked up and the main cause of the issue. Also shut off the supply valve, drain your tank, tape the rim jet holes shut...and then add some vinegar to the tank to let soak for a few hours prior to removing the scale.

    • @momsmpm
      @momsmpm  9 місяців тому +2

      I also use a coat hanger (in photo) but the bendable small brushes work better on the small jet’s. Ty for commenting.

      @Randy-ul5hy 9 місяців тому +3

      Yup..for the small rim jets I use a small automobile pick tool. Looks almost like a dental pick but stronger. I have a set of 4 that have various angles . The 45 degree works the best.@@momsmpm

    Yes, if you do not open those holes with something like a pipe cleaner, you will not get that angled jet that gives your poops that swirly action as it goes down!
