Comic Misconceptions is the best thing ever. I love you man. I was a big Nick Fury collector about 25 years ago, got all the Strange Tales etc. It would be *awesome* if SLJ turns out to be NF Jr. in the MCU. I could even live with the cheezy Hoff again, but I don't think they'd really use him. Thanks for the link, haven't seen it since it aired...
Scott's got so much personality that sometimes I almost blank out just trying to study his vocal intonation and body language to try and understand why I find him so easy to like....
Awesome video! I think your right, Samuel Jackson is playing Nick Fury Jr because in The winter solider movie they call him "Fury, Nicholas J" the J must stand for Junior!
***** Not necccarially what a lot of people don't know is that to legally be a junior the entirety of the name has to be the same, which would require JR. to appear on the documents like that. So that J could stand for anything like Jack or Johnson but people could still think of him as Nick Fury Jr. I know thins because I and my father share first names, and it's been a tradition in the family for awhile, However we do not want any Jr. so the Middle Name is always different.

Characters that are the mantle more than the persona can do that also. And i don't find it confusing. It's like changing actors, pretty much like it.
I think it was the first avenger movie where a discussion of the teserac (spelling) Cap says the blue glow reminds him of old Hydra weapons and fury says "I don't know anything about that". Fury Sr would have definitely known about that. leaning towards fury jr theory.
It would be awesome to have Samuel L Jackson saying, "He's my dad. You got a problem with that?", and everyone else just fearfully backs off the topic.
Actually if you look at the documentary "Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe" Kevin Feige says that Samuel L. Jackson's agent called him and asked if there was any room for him in the first Iron Man movie (because Jackson is a fan of comic books) and Kevin came up with the post credit scene.

Oh my... I was planning a fan-made universe called Earth-3342 and one of the different things was Nick Fury Sr and Jr (some other changes of history in include Wolverine being part of the super soldier project as a DNA template for the serum (due to his strength and the healing factor); Peni Parker being adopted by Aunt May and Uncle Ben before Peter's parents die, with him going to them afterwards; Eddie Brock being female instead, so that way the original concept of Venom carried through, and stuff like that.) +Erick Clemmson There is no 199999. Movies are not supposed to be "alternate universes." You want an alternate universe, read a "What If?" title. Movies are supposed to be an extension of the canonical(in this case, 616) source material. Anyone(including Marvel) who tries that "alternate universe" nonsense is simply making excuses for poor management and mistakes made by Marvel Studios. Remember, this is Hollywood, and Hollywood has a long track record of screwing up comic book adaptations. They don't even have the right to use the "alternate universe" excuse.
Erick Clemmson I know all the facts. I know that Marvel likes to call the MCU an alternate universe, but I also know that such a thing is sloppy and irresponsible filmmaking because movies based on previously published material is not supposed to be an "alternate universe," it is supposed to be a faithful adaptation of the source material. Movies that stick to the source material(The Hunger Games, The Lord of the Rings, Sin City) are usually the best adaptations. Movies that stray from the source material(I Am Legend, Fantastic Four) are usually steaming piles of compost. Anyone who uses the "alternate universe" cop-out is again, making excuses for mistakes and mismanagement. Just look at the mess that the MCU made with Ant-Man, trying to adapt Edgar Wright's old and incompatible 2004 script that didn't work in the MCU, that only ended in Wright quitting the film, and which resulted in two of the central and essential Avengers characters, Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, to be omitted from the MCU storyline resulting in the Avengers movies not working as well as they should. Go look up Joss Whedon's original Avengers script and you'll see that he originally had Hank and Janet in the script and was ordered to remove them to accommodate Edgar Wright, and everything became a mess afterwards. Hawkeye and Black Widow had to be awkwardly inserted in their place, resulting in Hawkeye being limited to a zombie for most of the film as Joss had little for his character to do. And the Ultron movie was compromised completely, with the story being switched to Tony Stark which created lapses in logic and continuity that resulted in a film that was a letdown compared to the first movie. Again, calling it an "alternate universe" is just making excuses for mistakes and mismanagement on the part of Marvel Studios. Kevin Feige practically admitted the mistake when he finally confessed that the Ant-Man script "just wasn't working" after Wright quit the production. You need to do your research.
I'm not even going to read your comments. I stopped after you said that it is supposed to be a fraudulent adaption lol. .... Nope. Not even. It's entertainment and how could YOU of all people tell Marvel that they got their OWN stuff wrong.. This will be the end of this conversation on my behalf
Erick Clemmson If you don't read my comments then you admit that you don't know the facts. And I CAN tell Marvel that they got their own stuff wrong because Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige even admitted that they got it wrong. Do you not understand English? When Edgar Wright quits the Ant-Man film because he did not intend for his movie to be part of the MCU and Marvel Studios admits that the script "just wasn't working," what part of that do you not understand? And any script that omits two of the central characters from the Avengers is clearly a fraudulent adaptation. Why don't you stop being a mindless slave to Hollywood and start thinking for yourself?
I feel Samuel L. Jackson is awesome as Nick Fury !!! But all in all it don't matter if Nick Fury is Black or White, as long as the character is portrayed correctly !!!
*Is Nick Fury Black or White?* The casual comic book fan might wonder why is Nick Fury black in the movies but white in the comics? Or perhaps you've seen Nick Fury represented in the comics as both a white guy and a black guy and questioned why that is. Today, we're tackling this question once and for all with insight to the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, Earth-616, and the Ultimate Universe comics! Race doesn't matter when it fits into the original storyline without causing problem, like when Will Smith was cast in Wild Wild West and it made no goddamn sense and caused huge internal errors, and when the person of a different race is the best person for the part, like Nick and The Kingpin in Daredevil. The Kingpin was the PERFECT casting in an otherwise horrible film and it was a great to see what's his name do the part so well. (RIP, man) The problem happens when they switch race or gender for pandering and not to make the whole program work at its best... Making the brother Storm black just added more bullshit to an already convoluted mess of a story... Making both siblings black would have worked... making the prof black would have worked... making Grimm or whatever the thing's name is black would have worked... but adding a whole adoption subplot just made a bigger mess. You should have a sound reason for your choices and Samuel L. Jackson was the best man for the part. Period. No pandering or PC bullshit, just the best casting choice possible.
The stupid thing is that you don't need the adoption subplot. If one parent is black and the other is white than their kid will be born either black or white. Its not unrealistic
Nick fury was black in the Ultimate universe before the movies came out, I just assumed they wanted Sam Jackson and went with the ultimate angle there.
Personally, I've always liked white NickFury over black NickFury for 2 reasons. 1st is because white NickFury was just the version I happened to grow up with. 2nd was that while black NickFury seemed to have been created as a cool "badass" (which he was), white NickFury was always really more of a stoic "hardass". A little less cool I suppose, but I always felt it was personality quirk that was also a little less juvenile and more......authoritative. I have not read the "OriginalSin" storyline yet, but I have flipped through a few issues. And I really get the feeling that this series was written for the sole purpose of just killing off white NickFury and replacing him with black NickFury in the 616 universe. Why? Well as you mentioned at the beginning of this video, newcomers to the characters have probably been wondering about this whole....thing. I'd say that all this was done just so that there would no longer be any question of a black/white NickFury anymore in any media from here on out. It's all fun.
oh ho man you just blew my mind and I never knew fury met spongebob! and also in age of ultron I have a theory at age of ultron nick fury jr almost gets nearly killed by ultron but gets saved by nick fury senior and the avengers meet up with jr and senior explains who he is and fury jr dies and fury senior takes on the role as nick fury for the rest of the cinamatic universe
Tay Boy Nick Fury meeting Spongebob is now all I can think about. Well played, sir. And I love your theory. It would be so cool if it happened that way!
***** the underwater avengers spongbob squidward mr krabs sandy patrick and plankton MAKE IT HAPPEN MARVEL! IF SPIDERMAN CAN BE IN CIVIL WAR THEN SPONGBOB HAS TO BE IN CIVIL WAR HECK WHY NOT AQUA MAN I DONT CARE IF HE'S A DC CHARACTER HE'S AN AWSOME SUPERHERO UNDERWATER AVENGERS I'M CALLING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow I never knew that. Possible that it is Nick Fury Jr., but I don't want David Hasselhof to reprise the role of old Nick Fury Sr., Get a better older actor if that is what Marvel is planning.
Interesting theory about Sam L Jackson as Fury Jr. There have been speculations about "The man on the wall" in season five of AoS. If so, a cool cameo would be Hasselhoff in a spacesuit. But i guess that would be over the head for some of the viewers and comic fans would probably go bananas
HE'S WHITE! I understand Marvel and DC wanting to appeal to ethnic diversity and not be called racists (like Green Lantern was accused of being), but if it's that important to you, just make a new character. Don't switch the ethnicity of pre-existing ones!
When I first saw Robert Redford in winter soldier, I thought it was going to be Nick Fury Sr. Especially from the way he and Sam Jackson spoke in their first scene.
Love the theory...hope the Marvel writers are willing to take plot challenges like this cause it would really add some much needed depth to the movies.
in a Deadpool comic way before Origins came to the big screen, someone asked Deadpool why he wears the mask and he said, "if you looked like Ryan Reynolds mixed with a Sharpay, you would wear a mask too". I think they do this kind of thing on purpose to get an actor that they want in the mindset to be playing a character.
I've always wanted "Agents of SHIELD" to give a nod to the Hasselhoff version of Nick by having Fury show up again on the show, but this time using one of those 'Mission Impossible" masks to disguise himself as someone else, who just happens to look like The Hoff... with an eyepatch ^_^
Okay listen here.. this is only a shameless promotion by Marvel to get readers to identify with the movie versions. I can't tell you how much I hate this. The Original Sin storyline was fine and all but they can't simply discard the original Nick Fury for a Samuel L. Jackson lookalike just because he's in the movies. What's next.. changing the Kingpin to look more like the actor in Dare Devil?
Erick726 You must admit though that it would be hard to cast someone who actually looked like kingpin and would do him justice fully. But the daredevil series kingpin is still good.
And the version in daredevil didn't have a good voice or face for it? I thought he did personally. I was talking more about how it's hard to find someone with 300 pounds of muscle for the role.
ThatGuyAgen The movie version? No.. no he didn't. First of all he didn't look like Kingpin at all. Also his voice was far from intelligent enough to pull it off.
ReplayStationShow My questions are 1) Can he STILL pull of the character, and 2) Could it be believable that the Hasselhoff is old enough to be Sam Jackson's father? Edit; Sam Jackson is 4 years older than Hasselhoff, surprised me :)
AHeroAlmost That's fair. I just think it's be an interesting way to wrap up his character. If Sam Jackson stopped playing the role, they could always introduce another Nick Fury.
If Nick Fury was white in the movies; he should have been played by Liam Neeson :)
+Brendon Dellinger good call! but atm, jackson is perfect nick fury :)
+William O'Toole Except they explicitly Designed Ultimate Fury off of Jackson (with his permission).
I'd say that dimension has served him well.
+rilluma He's nothing like Nick Fury.
+Brendon Dellinger Actually, I think the original white Nick Fury should've been played by Stephen Lang from Avatar.
44excalibur That's another good choice :)
I only will accept the Nick Fury Jr Theory if they bring Hassalhoff back to play Nick Fury Sr.
They have to
Obviously you never saw how bad the show was
No way..... that show sucked
Guys whether the show sucked or not it’ll be a fun little Easter egg and you know it
The mother must be a very darkskinned black woman
That theory is actually really cool; like, Nick Fury in the films is actually Nick Fury Jr. would be mind blowing, but I doubt it will happen.
*Black?* Wait! He's *black* in the movies!?!?

Anyone(including Marvel) who tries that "alternate universe" nonsense is simply making excuses for poor management and mistakes made by Marvel Studios. Remember, this is Hollywood, and Hollywood has a long track record of screwing up comic book adaptations. They don't even have the right to use the "alternate universe" excuse.
44excalibur you should check you fact. The mcu IS considered an alternate universe
HAHAHA so... the way you nerd out at the end would have instantly made me a fan if I wasn't already
I feel Samuel L. Jackson is awesome as Nick Fury !!! But all in all it don't matter if Nick Fury is Black or White, as long as the character is portrayed correctly !!!
Wil Newman Amen!
Why not make Superman’s parents black?
Great work Scott - big thumbs up. :)

Simon Jones Wednesday. Took a week off because I was out of town. Sorry.
***** Oh cool
Comic misconception red hulk mustache
Jay Garrick I kid you not, I was just thinking about this the other day. Haha
please make an episode explaining what share your universe is
you are wrong.
Bully actually put some dirts in fury's eye
I think you're totally right about Jackson being Nick Fury Jr. But for some reason I see George Clooney as Nick Fury Sr.
If Brad Pitt was Captain America it whould have been funny assuming Chris Hemsworth is still Thor
That reveal would be awesome!
christophe biron Right?!
White or Black Nick Fury is a badass.
Ily 5 ever Scott cause I love marvel thanks for the videos I've been always looking for a channel that talks about heros
Tim - PixelByPixel Haha. Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video!
(RIP, man)
The problem happens when they switch race or gender for pandering and not to make the whole program work at its best...
2nd was that while black NickFury seemed to have been created as a cool "badass" (which he was),
white NickFury was always really more of a stoic "hardass".
A little less cool I suppose, but I always felt it was personality quirk
that was also a little less juvenile and more......authoritative.
I have not read the "OriginalSin" storyline yet, but I have flipped through a few issues.
And I really get the feeling that this series was written for the sole purpose
of just killing off white NickFury and replacing him with black NickFury in the 616 universe.
Why? Well as you mentioned at the beginning of this video, newcomers to the characters
have probably been wondering about this whole....thing.
I'd say that all this was done just so that there would no longer be any question
of a black/white NickFury anymore in any media from here on out.
It's all fun.
Word nothing tops the origins
You totally geeked out there dude!⚡ 😄
oh ho man you just blew my mind and I never knew fury met spongebob! and also in age of ultron I have a theory at age of ultron nick fury jr almost gets nearly killed by ultron but gets saved by nick fury senior and the avengers meet up with jr and senior explains who he is and fury jr dies and fury senior takes on the role as nick fury for the rest of the cinamatic universe
I was sleeping watching all the vids of this channel 😆😄😄😴😴
Scott. Thank you. This is. Amazing.
MrMoooshroomz. You're welcome. You are. Amazing. As well.
Michael Jackson said it best
" It don't matter is your black or white"
When I first saw Robert Redford in winter soldier, I thought it was going to be Nick Fury Sr. Especially from the way he and Sam Jackson spoke in their first scene.
Riot777 Holy crap! That would have been amazing!
Kurt Russell for Nick fury Sr
Sure! Why not? He played Ego, the Living Planet!
He played Ego in the second Guardians of the Galaxy
+NerdSync Productions Just wanted to say keep up the good work. I always look forward to your videos.
Hexrina V Thank you!
Nick Fury will always be White to me....Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos comics when I was a kid.
Nick Fury is white to me in 616. He's black to me in the MCU and Ultimates.
Nick Fury rolling on the floor looking for a cheeseburger? I'd read that.
a great man once said it doesnt matter if you're black or white.....and if you are over the age of 30+ im suprised you dont get that reference
Semen joke?
Jai Edward Kapoor no just...no
Jackson!
MrOmniblast 5? or micheal
DeadPool Junior. Lol, Michael.
Love the theory...hope the Marvel writers are willing to take plot challenges like this cause it would really add some much needed depth to the movies.
Samuel L is a amazing actor and I love his portrayal of Fury. Didn't care one bit about the color change. That said, I hope they re-up his contract.
THANKYOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!!
What happened to superman parents
Lol
They blew up on krypton unless you are talking about his adopted parents on the farm and I think his dad died of age but his mums alive
........Which Ones?.....His Krypton Parents Were Obliterated, Ibelieve His Mother Is Still Alive Tho
in a Deadpool comic way before Origins came to the big screen, someone asked Deadpool why he wears the mask and he said, "if you looked like Ryan Reynolds mixed with a Sharpay, you would wear a mask too". I think they do this kind of thing on purpose to get an actor that they want in the mindset to be playing a character.
What if it's just a code name like that James Bond theory
Casey Jones What if Nick Fury is a Time Lord...
***** you blew my mind
I use to theory that stan lee is the watcher lol~~~~
I've always wanted "Agents of SHIELD" to give a nod to the Hasselhoff version of Nick by having Fury show up again on the show, but this time using one of those 'Mission Impossible" masks to disguise himself as someone else, who just happens to look like The Hoff... with an eyepatch ^_^
5:25 "Slightly faster and stronger than average human" just like a regular black person./s
Love your passion on these vids, love your different perspectives
Okay listen here.. this is only a shameless promotion by Marvel to get readers to identify with the movie versions. I can't tell you how much I hate this. The Original Sin storyline was fine and all but they can't simply discard the original Nick Fury for a Samuel L. Jackson lookalike just because he's in the movies. What's next.. changing the Kingpin to look more like the actor in Dare Devil?
Erick726 You must admit though that it would be hard to cast someone who actually looked like kingpin and would do him justice fully. But the daredevil series kingpin is still good.
All an actor needs to play the Kingpin properly is the right voice and face and then a little Austin Powers makeup.
Erick726 Oh god no, was talking about the most recent daredevil series marvel produced not long ago, daredevil movie is best left forgotten imo.
The Hoff as Nick Fury Sr. needs to happen
ReplayStationShow My questions are 1) Can he STILL pull of the character, and 2) Could it be believable that the Hasselhoff is old enough to be Sam Jackson's father?
Edit; Sam Jackson is 4 years older than Hasselhoff, surprised me :)
eh, it's comic books... it doesn't NEED to make sense haha
wildside316 Immortality.
I think Arnold Schwarzenegger would be a good nick furry
+Michael Gaming nick furry and nick fury are very different people.... one letter typo but oooooh what difference...
You're theory is pretty awesome I have to say!
TheSoulCollector13 Thank you!
I like black fury better, even before he was in the movies.
No I think your onto something with that idea it would make sense and also be a great concept
fury is black cause of ultimate design.
And the ultimate design is that they'll ultimately all be changed to black.
+karlbushtheII That does seem to be the pattern.
Film Theory, where you at, boy. This is where we need you.
Would people really care if nick fury snr keep into the series? Great theory to be fair..just cant see it happening do!
AHeroAlmost That's fair. I just think it's be an interesting way to wrap up his character. If Sam Jackson stopped playing the role, they could always introduce another Nick Fury.
True actually a good back up..suppose that's why your so popular, thinking outside of the box!!
What if Nick Fury Sr. Was played by Bruce Willis? Or George Clooney? Some good angry-ish older white guy...
