11th Paralympic Summer Games - Sydney 2000: Closing Ceremony

'The group that put Australia on the international music map -- "The Seekers" - was the finale of the Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony that was held at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday, 29 October at 7.30pm. "The Seekers" reformed especially for this spectacular event -- the first time they've all sung together since 1998. Joining "The Seekers" was Jimmy Barnes, who performed songs from his album 'Soul Deep II'; one of Australia's favourite bands, The Whitlams; country singer Keith Urban and Graeme Connors, whose song 'Being Here' was the official song of the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games' - Sydney Paralympic Organising Committee 2000

Is it true ABC satirical show The Games inspired hiring The Seekers ?

I’m not sure, given that the type of comedy found in the Games is very zeigist focused. but I am aware that they were expected to perform at the Olympic closing ceremony. However, lead vocalist Judith Durham broke her hip and was unable to perform. The Seekers performed the song during the here, with Durham performing from a wheelchair.
