Would absolutely love to drive from TN to a mini meet, bring my e2 black with all attachments, my avalir, and just be involved, spread and gain knowledge and experience more machines!
Mildew can also be treated by sitting it out in the direct sunlight. Those UV rays for sure. Also, I would store one of those mops with the solution and recovery tanks off of the unit.
I couldn't agree more with both of you. The SRX, albeit having some features that were long needed, the performance has dropped considerably and limiting it to 2 qt for capacity in water, could not beat an E2 2 speed or D4. The power nozzle being as flawed as it is also, like the canister has something both Sebo and Miele still don't have: replaceable brush strips on a stainless steel brushroll. I'm glad that that is an improvement as well as the vents leading back to the R-series rectangular nozzles making it more useful on plush carpeting out of the box. But yeah, not really an impressive machine over all. The price when I asked my local rainbow dealer back in Fall 2019 was actually in line with what the E2 Black was. Inflation made it more expensive in the past three years. I mean, my Honda lawn mower and my Cub Cadet snow blower have went up in price too, by hundreds of dollars (CA$1499 to $1730 and CA$2150 to 2899 respectively). Just because you switch to hard flooring doesn't mean the vacuum's useless or obsolete. It really doesn't work that way. You may still have area rugs, and vacuums are far more hygienic than using brooms. I mean, canister machines really shine in this because they are built for both floor and above the floor cleaning. If you still have a car they are useful that way too.
This is not verbatim, but Thomas said in the video that an employee at the Goodwill store where he purchased the Rainbow from said people are getting rid of their Rainbows (and probably other makes/models of vacuums) seemingly in droves because of the growing popularity of all hard flooring surfaces in homes. I can totally understand getting rid of a "big box store" vacuum and replacing it with something more suitable for cleaning hard floors, but getting rid of a Rainbow??? The Rainbow is, from my experience because I own an E2 Black with all accessories except the carpet shampoo attachments, well designed to clean all surfaces in the home! We do have a few rooms with carpeting, but the vast majority of my home (and actually soon the entire home) will be tile, hardwood, and LVP flooring. The horse hair hard floor brush works great to vacuum the floors and I have the RainJet Complete for washing them. The Rainbow is well designed with attachments and accessories to be fluid as your home changes and/or is remodeled. The people who dump these at Goodwill are clearly unknowledgeable of the capabilities and fluidity of a Rainbow system. Even if you do not have the other attachments there is a HUGE aftermarket of different accessories you can buy to adapt your Rainbow for current cleaning needs. I have a Kirby Avalir with all the optional accessories and would not do this, but could understand why someone would "dump" the Kirby in favor of say a Bissell Crosewave or other similar machine. The Kirby is an excellent deep carpet cleaner with high air flow, and many attachments to take advantage of that high airflow. That is, in my opinion, where the versatility ends because the multi surface shampoo system "works" but it takes SO MUCH effort to use because the Kirby cannot actually pick up water so you are using a spinning microfiber mop and tiny collection tray to clean and "dry" the floor. It is so much work to use the Kirby as a hard floor cleaner that it is just not worth it - better to get something like a Bissell Crosewave. If people dump a Kirby because they installed all hard flooring in their home I could understand that, but a Rainbow vacuum? That I don't get.
