I’m glad the perigrine is working out for you! It’s one of my all time favorite trail running shoes. And as you said in the video the stability and traction are phenomenal. And for me those to factors are top priority for me with trail shoes. Everything else is a distant second place. Also great review man!
Been running year around with Peregrine in Germany with no issues, my first pair lasted about 3 years of brutal weekly usage. Rain, snow, sun, never mattered, had great grip and just went after it.
love mine. they don't vent well in hot weather and ive had a little wear from the collar rubbing my ankle but i sewed a little stitch to fix that. ive run long distances totaling about 500 miles in mine with almost no wear anywhere else on the shoe. they are a great mix of comfort (not to soft) and feedback (lots of control). i run a mix of dirt, mud, sand, roots, rocks, paved trail with snow and slush in the winter. i run xc spikes in the ice for better traction. ive already ordered a second pair.
update: ordered some saucony tr2s to run in the heat and some icebug spirit8s to run in the ice. made in sweden with built in carbide studs and a rock plate. looking forward to testing them this winter. they should be much better than xc spikes. the tr2s are nice. they feel much like the peregrine 11s. same drop, foam, stack height, very responsive, but they are a bit lighter weight with a more breathable upper and a more efficient outsole (less grippy but more energy return) i believe they do not have a rock plate but it hasnt made a difference so far and its easier to place your feet when the trail is in good (dry) condition and thats where the tr2 works best
These are my first pair of Saucony. I got them mainly for walking in the rain/snow. Went and walked a few miles in them, and I must say, they are very comfortable right out of the box. They honestly feel broken in already. Can’t wait to see how they perform in rain/waterproofing capabilities.
@@UltraTrailSteven Thanks man! I definitely am liking them so far. The fact they were on sale for $75, makes them that much better haha. Really enjoyed your video btw.
I appreciate the honest and detailed review Steven. Love all the supporting b-roll! Great work around for the tongue issue. I would trade a little weight for comfort too.
@@UltraTrailSteven version 2 is out but the colors seem to be limited. I’ve got a nice bright blue version 1. Excellent shoes. Very aggressive outsole and 4mm drop. No rock plate though so quite a bit lighter shoe. Since I don’t do ultra distances (yet) maybe I’ve got a more positive view of them than others would, but I’ve also heard great reviews from folks who’ve used them on long distances.
Awesome review! I've been playing around with the idea of getting these shoes to accompany my Altra's to give my achilles/calves a little break. I'll have to get a pair now and see how they work for me, thanks Steven!
Nice review. I have about 150K on mine and not noticed the tongue issue you have, perhaps the W version only? I also have the Grey/Green version, not the prettiest! 🇨🇦
I have the blue ones and idk what you're talking about with the toung. There's elastics the length of the toung attching it in place all the way down the length of the toung down to the sole inside and a black elastic across the top of the toung to attach it to the laces. Seems redundent to make ankther hole through the toung above the lace hole to attach the laces again to the toung.
Do you run the laces just behind the logo fabric on the tongue? So the cut you made goes through that fabric only? Just picked up a pair of these, and would hope to not have the issue you describe, but who knows.
Yes just behind the logo and not all the way through the tongue. I did that hoping that the material that the logo is made out of would last and not rip. So far it’s holding up well. Hopefully you don’t have the issue
My toes have been fine in them so far. My wife has the Peregrine 11's too, and she hasn;t had any issues so far either. I hope your wife can find a shoe that works for her!

Thanks, Mike! I agree, grip and feeling stable in a shoe are top priorities! Especially after numerous ankle injuries.

Great Pro tip, currently looking at this shoe for my winter running in the mountains.
They have been great in slippery conditions!

Thanks, Sage! I hope the tongue hack works out.
Such a good review. Glad you got the wide shoe that was stable but interesting about the tongue. Hope you fixed that.
Thanks, Jessica!
I agree about the short tongue on this shoe. It's a real problem.
Yep. The tongue is much better on the 12. Although it has its own issues.
Great review, Steven! Didn't try Saucony yet, thanks for the review! Fully watched! ✌
Thank you! My first Saucony and I liked them!
I haven’t worn the Peregrines before but absolutely love the Saucony Mad River
I've not tired those yet. I'll have to look them up

Really good review. Wish the wide came in different colors! The outsole looks very nice!
Thanks, Dan! My wife has the wide version too, and it is only in this color too ugh. The grip is great!
Saucony makes a pretty good trail shoe. I've never ran in anything different on the trails.
Glad to hear you have liked them!
Oh man sorry that shoe was a bummer for the 50k! What a race to discover that issue...
The shoe was great as a whole, just the tongue issue. It wasn't too bad.
Nice review.. I have the peregrine 10, now growing to like it but wish I had the wide. 👍
Thank you, James! The wide does feel nice.

Thanks for the info! I know my wife has the issue on her Peregrins (also wides though). My friend Mike also commented that his has the same issue.
@@UltraTrailSteven I will keep an eye on it, I have not had any longer runs in them so probably why.

They’re a brand I’ve used on and off since the Kinvara 2 in 2010, but I’ve never took them seriously for trail shoes. Just not a peregrine fan.
I never have either; this is my first pair of Saucony. I really enjoy them so far; aside from the tongue issue.
What do you wear for trail shoes? I'm looking for something new after my old shoes got discontinued.

Do you think these would work for day hikes? I run in saucony kinvara's but haven't found a good hiking shoe.
I’m sure they would! Excellent traction and good comfort.
