Not for nothing but i like understanding lyrics and i think he is one of the only screamers where you dont have to blow apart you brain trying to understand him. Dont get me wrong i love the early stuff but i also like the growth and direction they have been going in.
@@damiencross7334 The complexity of the songs are watered down beyond anything resembling previous pwd. The instruments and composition are generic. It doesn't have the magic it once did. It doesn't offer anything special. The singer is fantastic, but should start a new band if they want to go for a totally new sound - which this is. Riding the wave of success from a previous product, but marketing this new product as the old one - is like false advertisement almost. Now you know a few of the things 'people complain about'. But hey, at least your brain doesn't have to 'blow apart' while listening now.. whatever the fuck that means.
@@damiencross7334 This is the definition of "radio rock" it's designed to be played on public radio and generate more revenue, it's as close to basic rock as you can get. I'm happy they have had the success they were able to achieve but this is nothing like Horizons, KWAS or Deep Blue. They'll probably never make another hardcore album but they had a much better sound back then, most PWD fans agree. I've been listening to them since the Horizons album and it's hard to listen to anything past Ire.
Love all of Parkway Drive !!! Original Killing with a Smile is God. Seeing you guys small days in Wangaratta when everyone was a kid and it was Parkway Drive, BMTH, IKTPQ and local bands!!! Take me back to those days

Just found out you guys showed off two new songs and an album announcement! Somehow it flew under my radar even though i've been trying to keep myself updated. Glad to hear that you guys are still killing it even with this newer, cleaner sound! Loving the melodic vocals so far!
If you, Parkway Drive, see this message just know that I love you from America. I've always branched out around the world to find metal but I have never looked in your region. Thank you for doing what you do. And I also love your old work way more, although it's all good. LOL!
I really think Parkway Drive has found a great sound. This band just keeps me wanting more. They have aged greatly. Nice to see a band progress and do it better each time. All their stuff fits each growth. From beginning till now. Fantastic
Agreed, it's almost like they're creating songs like this one to suit the big metal festivals, which I can definitely get down with. Obviously, they're past the metal core phase which I knew from the very outset after they made IRE. Can you imagine if they played nothing but metal core songs at Wacken or Bloodstock? HAHA Songs like these are basically allowing them to tap into the minds of classic heavy metal listeners (even if those type of fans don't like this sound, it's still taking influences from the classic metal bands which may or may not give PWD some respect when they play at these sort of venues IMO). Aside from that, the only hesitation I have is if they make songs like Devil's Calling or Prey, which I'm not a fan of. A little bit too mainstream for me. PWD are obviously entitled to make what they want cause it's their music but I feel like they harbour so much creativity as musicians. They shouldn't stick to a theme that suits an audience per se, but they should definitely maintain that newer sound of "heaviness" (Absolute Power, Dedicated, Destroyer) that we've (or at least, I have) loved from them whilst continuing to challenge themselves. Even if it's with different time signatures or using acoustic guitars for certain sections of their songs to give more texture-like the intro to their track 'A Deathless Song' for example.. They should put their Dream Theater hats on and try something out of the box. Just my two cents but it's should be an interesting album.
It's not that he really has a choice. Listen to any older live shows pre IRE where they had their metalcore golden days, you can really hear his vocals were getting strained every tour. He's got good fry vocals on album, but his age is catching up to him. Plus now they got families to feed, so better to go for the safer option. I'm not a fan of the song, respect people who do, just know better to explain what I've picked up as grew up with this band so newer fans can appreciate why the difference in vocals with this newer song.
@@Mattkayina I don't even think you can fully judge this song until you can see thier entire vision and cadence of the album. It definitely didn't knock me on my ass, but they always put so much thought and detail into this shit, I'm honestly more excited to get the full experience and see how this fits into how they built the album

Parkway used to be a part of my daily life back in the "killing with a smile" days. grew up, became a dad, lost touch with music all together, and then after so many years, I discovered this gem. Thank you for reminding me of the fun I used to have.
Been listening since deep blue. Love PWD. And while this song didn't connect with me right off the get go. It's grown so well on me. Just like Ire and Reverance did over time.
The last time I seen PWD, They were playing in Cardiff (Wales) to about 6000 people. Winston mentioned that the time they played Wales before that gig was to about 30 people in a small town called Merthyr. That gig was genuinely one of the best nights of my life. I sang and screamed and drank non stop until I had nothing left to give. These guys are fucking showmen!
Absolutely killer song! Gave me goosebumps, agree with y'all...can't wait to see this performed LIVE! Parkway rocks to my #1 favorite band of today! Now to cleanup the mess and repair the damages from headbanging and moshing around to this track I just did lol, course while I listen to it again!! Rewind x5!
Literally just saw them at aftershock and they were the greatest band to see live. I’ve followed them since horizons and this was my first time seeing them live. They opened with glitch and let me tell you… I could not have been more stoked with the whole performance. Hardest shit at aftershock this year🤘🤘
@2:27 I can totally picture them stopping the crowd when they play this live and prepping an epic ass wall of death for when the breakdown hits. Can't wait ❤️
I don’t care if it’s not as heavy as their earlier albums. I’ll forever jam them till the day I die. Old to new stuff they drop. They’ve come along way and they deserve success
What a time we're living in where playing Hardrock instead of technical Metalcore equals success. This is also the streaming-generation's fault. If streams feed your family you're going mainstream. *sigh*
@@quietri0t yes and no, the got the success they wanted after atlas, hence why I find it was kind of a gift to the fans that liked the band of hardcore kids playing metal. But, the bands getting old, you can definitely hear it with Winston with the live recordings over the years. His vocals are getting strained and not holding fry vocals as strong as he once did. Since ire, you can tell he's trying to do less fry vocals.
@@Red1676 I concur with you on the vocals becoming strained aspect. We can use In Flames lead singer Anders Friden as an example of vocals clearly becoming more strained over the years. I'm not sure of the vocal techniques either Winston McCall or Anders Friden uses to prevent major strain while using growls. It is not surprising to see the nature of growls causing vocal issues over a long period of time.
@@quietri0t Ever thought about, that theyre not in their early 20's? That the band evolves? That Winstons voice changes and might get affected over the years of constant screaming? And the vid is dope :D
They mature their sound and experimenting with more melodic i used to rather have similar albums like the odl days but things change
I dont know what people complain about. The only real change is their singer got better.
I'm incredibly proud of the boys. They are going through major turmoil and adversity and yet they come out with this beautiful banger of a track. I'm in awe of their work ethic and their dedication. This is definitely a song to get the crowd moving and singing live. I’m still hoping for some absolute bangers for the rest of the album.

At least we can wait for few tracks on this album
I like the live songs. Like bottom feeder or wild eyes.
@benzaiten my mistake you are correct, and that song smashes. Hope the rest of this album is good and this is a one off
They haven't had a good song since Atlas (2012).
Can’t lie they could’ve dropped a country song and I’d still be happy. Needed new parkway drive 🙏🏼
Fantastic

Thousands of necks will break when this is played live…I also love how Winston is trying out new things with his voice
His cleaner vocals are getting better for sure. I like all of their albums and dig this just as much as the rest.
Personally I don't like the track very much but I have immense respect for the band and still excited to hear the rest of the album
@@Mattkayina I don't even think you can fully judge this song until you can see thier entire vision and cadence of the album. The last time I seen PWD, They were playing in Cardiff (Wales) to about 6000 people. Winston mentioned that the time they played Wales before that gig was to about 30 people in a small town called Merthyr. That gig was genuinely one of the best nights of my life.
@@quietri0t what time has technical metalcore ever equaled success lol
