Great vid. I have a trek fx as a coffee run bike (40kms with the neighbours on a Sunday) bought 2nd hand and love it for its "why steal me when you can steal something better" look. Top tip to stop saddle bag seat post strap from dropping is to put a cable tie/zip tie around the seat post to keep the saddle bag level and keep the zip accessible rather than have it hiding beneath the saddle.
Yes those dual sided pedals are so functional. They're heavy, and they can shred up soft shoe soles, but a fair trade to be able to wear everyday shoes on errands. Wondering if you ever have considered flat handlebars for the commuter?
Nice collection! You're inspiring me to dig out my near-antiquated SCR1, which hasn't seen the light of day since moving house in 2018. 😱 Keep up the fine work! 👌🏻
Very nice bikes. I recently got into building up my bikes. Buying frame n fork and putting it together with parts of my liking. I love doing a build/wrenching. For me it's a big part of my love for cycling. The end results are very satisfying On my bikes is my happy place. I have a awesome t-shirt that say "My therapist" and has a pic of a road bike under it lol ..So true.
Just started cycling regular and I get the hump if I can't go out because of the weather ! Can't buy a decent bike because of covid-19 ! Everywhere sold out
Do you have a mountain bike? I have a specialized rockhopper and totally love it, got the missus a MTB too now and we love going out, showing her your videos too, you are inspiring and I have just started following you on Strava (kev rayner) Keep up the good work and congrats on the new job! X
Hi Katie, hope you are well. I've seen further down that you did the 40tooth cassette with something called a wolf tooth? Is that the name of the cassette or front chain ring? Have you had any issues at all? I've just bought a ribble cgr ti, but with 105 and I'm now thinking some bike packing fully loaded might be a bit tough so a 40 on the back would just be amazing and to swap out the road wheels with a standard to some off road wheels with a 40 would be perfect.
By the looks of the height of the saddle, and the spacers to elevate the handlebar stems, I'd say all three bike frames are small for you, especially your commute bike as you said.
Hello, I discovered your videos when I was looking reviews for the canyon grail. I am surprised to not see it amongst your bikes. So, it is one of those bikes Canyon lend and then sell at an outlet price?
why saddle at trek is so high? maybe wrong size? or it depends the frame geometry? Iam asking cause at my hybrid Quick1 the frame is Medium and i have the saddle full up ( i see the end line mark at saddle tube) and iam 172cm.
I binge watched a bunch of your vids today because I fell behind....hahaha Thanks for the motivation!!!! 25mph winds here today so think ill try an Urban ride which help block the wind as everything where I live is mostly open fields...Ride on!!!!!!
Hi, loving your videos as a newbie to cycling. I’m interested why you changed to your new Ribble if you did like the Liv so much ? I’m interested as I have a Liv and will upgrade at some point, probably to another Liv. Thanks
I loved the Liv but when I wanted to upgrade they didn’t do rim brake bikes on an endurance frame. Ribble offered that and also offer your own spec of crank length and handlebar width which is so important for comfort on the bike.
You've got 28mmon the Synapse, what about the other bikes? I'm using 38mm Marathon Plus but i notice my calories per mile is about 20% more than yours - 4186 on a 165km with (only) 1100m climbing. Then again I do dumb stuff when tired, might have crashed with less grip...
Nice for you, Katie. I also have 3 bikes: a sports-bike, a folding-bike and a recumbent bike. I also have 2 cars, one here in NL and another in the USA. Greetz from the Netherlands.
Nice to see you've upgraded the giant.. I've got a 2015 aluxx defy with carbon forks and I've done thousands of miles on it.. really good bikes, also a 2017 defy advanced disc , which is something else, like you I use the aluxx mostly , if your thinking of buying carbon , maybe try a defy advanced disc... rather than cannondale .. mine are dry rides only and spotless , so I'm sort of wishing I had a third... but OCD would kick in and I'd spend hours cleaning it after a wet ride...)))
Ahhh Shaun I will keep that bike frame (with Shimano components) until the day I die!! I love it so much. Colour of the Cannondale is stunning isn’t it!!
Thanks for the upload! I have 4 myself :) A Specialized Roubaix Sport, 2x Giant TCR road bikes (one with carbon wheels for racing and one on my trainer) and an upcoming Giant hardtail.
I hired a Synapse Disc Ultegra recently and thinking about getting one, such a great bike, heavier than I'm used to but the weight didn't transmit on the ride especially up the many inclines.
I would like to ask: Is that worth upgrading the wheelset & groupset in an old alloy bike, (like what you did to yours) But, I found out the groupset and the pair of light wheel probably worth £1000 in total already (without service charge) or Just get a new alloy bike that fits me, and with a better groupset, and upgrade the wheel later?
Yeah, there is just a thing about bikes that you cant help showing off your babies to people. I am a complete bike bore and will rave on about my four bikes. I have two road bikes, the Defy and also a Raleigh Royal. The Royal is the leave outside of the shops road bike, but it has a rack and a triple up front. Good bike. but not as nice as the Defy which is my distance machine. For general riding with the kids and going down the shops, I have an XTC hard tail, while the off road toy is my Anthem X2. I keep eyeing up other bike, but if I get another one the wife will kill me.
Haha ahhhh on my Liv bike I have Shimano RS500 Ultegra wheels - I put those on and LOVE them!!! The other bikes are the wheels that came with the frame.
Hi Katie, Great videos and a great inspiration to everyone . You mentioned the gearing on the first bike, as 40 cassette. Are you running a standard medium ( long cage mech) with a road link attachment on the dérailler ?
Hay looking good girl, cool we video, i know you did a video on loosing weight, but can you say honestly lol what did you cut out food wise as I mite perhaps find it difficult to cut down on my sugar in my tea ,do you think its what you cut out , or the sheer amount of cycling, or both,if both what did you like i say cut out .

Nice bikes. Even's should offer you a sweetheart deal on the Cannondale. It would get them very reasonable priced UA-cam wide attention. If that was my place, the walls would be scuffed with tyre marks and the floor would be covered in oil. Worth it though.
Haha mine are!! They might not look it on camera but in real life... scuffs all over the place :)
The colour of that cannondale 😍 I really wish I got my synapse in that colour now
