In effect this increased the power ratio by 6hp! 180bhp ÷ 1079kg original weight = 167hp per ton 180bhp ÷ 1038kg reduced weight = 173hp per ton Not bad! Without any power mods what so ever.
I've lost around 200kg from stripping my Volvo v70 t5 and what a difference that has made feels like I've added about 50hp and can now keep up with 300hp cars ua-cam.com/video/AhNMXEre6WU/v-deo.html
All the carpeting and interior panels removed and the overall mass loss is just over 40kg. Goes to show how mass efficient modern interiors are for the given level of functionality and comfort. If the car came with heavy OEM wheels a change to lightweight racing wheels like Enkei RPF1 would have stripped around 10kg of overall unsprung mass, which is much more effective for increasing overall performance. A simple removal of the spare wheel and onboard tool kit would have probably been almost half that weight gone.
Wheels are Unsprung AND Rotational mass. So you would be reducing 10kg, but the effect could feel like upto 30kg because that 10kg of mass that u just lost, would also have been SPINNING hard whenever you accelerate, causing more slow down effect than 10kg's worth Aor Konig dial in 15x7 4.95kg per wheel
Yes, remove the aircon / reciever / dryer / blower motor Gut the rear hatch, remove the fluid washer bottle and motor relocate the batt to behind the passenger seat remove the stereo and door speakers i just use headphones and my phone on the way to the track pop in a bolt in cage (4 point) and you will love the race car
Good job guys, killing the series so far looking forward to the next! Actually did a similar video myself and managed to remove over 100kg it’s insane what you can achieve!
The air con system is pretty heavy, I’d get rid of it. My 182 has it deleted and it’s my daily driver. No real issues. Mine also had the damp in the rear passenger footwell. It turned out to be door sills full of water. There are small drainage holes on the underside of the car that will need unblocking.
Light weight wheels and good tyres should also be considered for future upgrades. Personally I run OZ Ultralaggera’s but a lot of people swear by 15” team dynamic pro race 1.2’s. For tyres, I’d recommend Yokohama AD08R’s, really good tyre.
You definitely got away with finding nothing more dodgy than some loose change, a USB stick, a hairdryer attachment (wtf?) and a sachet of sugar. I was quite astounded by how much weight you removed boys. Looked very satisfying
I'm surprised the bathroom scales can take the weight, learnt something new! Also you guys can remove the sound deadening residue in case you want to weld in a roll cage in the future.
Car Focused My daily (not a garage car) dont have the rear wiper arm and motor for about 2 years. Never have a issue, never have the need to use it. Just use a water repelent or wash it once a week. My brother 172 Clio also dont have it. Its about 2Kg.

the most fun part of any build. ripping everything out!
Gas Pedal Media also it's impressively satisfying
Cant agree more and such a difference it makes when you lose around 200kg

I was gutted to find that you haven't made another episode yet!
I've subscribed, nice work boys.
Thanks mate. We try to get new vids out weekly on Thursdays.

Great video, thinking of buying an MX-5 to strip as a little project. Or maybe a civic of some sort.

Thanks for the tip Ben, will check the drainage hole.
Remove the aircon! Very nice videos, hope to see much more! Greetings from Germany

+Simon Taylor Yeah, could have been worse! It’s amazing what you can find!
I found a pack of Viagra in an e46 m3 once a week after buying it.
100% remove the aircon. The pump weighed a good 15kg alone on my civic.
Hope there was something interesting on those USB sticks
Gary threw the USB sticks away - he said he was too scared to see what was on them!
Waiting for next EP!!
Remove those standard seats and get some buckets. You'll save a lot of weight there! I've managed to remove 150kg from mine.
And racing steering wheel
I'm surprised the bathroom scales can take the weight, learnt something new! Also you guys can remove the sound deadening residue in case you want to weld in a roll cage in the future.
"We're going hardcore" gut it all guys!
Just got a Hyundai Excel ( Accent in the UK) to build into a track car for a one make series we have here in Perth, so following this quite closely
+ACL Motorsport Sounds like a cool build. You putting it on UA-cam?
I will be putting as much as I can on here yes, going to start in the New Year
+ACL Motorsport Cool. Let me know when it’s up!
How much fuel was in the fuel tank guys when you's weighted it out of interest. Think you could go easy sub 1000kg with more stripping :)
finally someone who empties out the doors too
Need to continue these episodes, if you still have the car. When you removed the rear seat belts, how did you resolve the airbag light coming on?
Sorry Stev but we sold the Clio. Airbag light did not come on!
Shame you sold the Clio. Well keep the videos 350z coming. Enjoy the channel.
Thanks Steve!
Good stuff, all saleable bits to fund some tyres.
Exactly. On an unrelated note, can I interest you in some slightly used carpet?
Thanks for posting very good
Glad you enjoyed it
Looks good doing mine welll most of it just not the ac and blower motor yet but in the mk5 it's like 300 lbs or more
GO HARD BOYS. BUILD A DRIVING MACHINE....REMOVE EVERYTHING YOU DONT NEED!!!! LOL!!!!!
I'd keep the front standard but just strip the rear, it is what I plan on doing with my 182.
When's the next part out boys??
I try to have one out every week on a Thursday.
Road and Race great, best show on youtube!!! Can't to see the new improved 0-60 time, keep up the good work 😎
Wow, best show on UA-cam! Such high praise! Big thanks!
Very common fault have a look under the scuttle panel there’s a drainage plug that will be blocked
i removed my transmission for weight reduction and I added carbon fiber pistons for weight reduction. shit hauls ass now fam
Strip the acorn?
No spare tire ?
Aircon gone!
I like British ppl on YT
Why not the rear wiper motor?!
Car Focused My daily (not a garage car) dont have the rear wiper arm and motor for about 2 years. Never have a issue, never have the need to use it. Just use a water repelent or wash it once a week. My brother 172 Clio also dont have it. Its about 2Kg.
Sounds a little weight saving, but their are high and very back on the rear of the car ;)
Should do the tyres first really.
41KG GADAMM
Let's be honest. That car was a bargain.
muy poco..
Weight reduction bro
remove the aircon! :-)
7 min in a nutshell... we dropped 92lbs off the car. ...watch the next video for results
all Loss is 83.2 that is it
