Climbing Hookers Wide Chimney with Eddie

Nice to see Eddie back for more winter fun. Eddie had previously done a winter mountaineering course with me and was back for a few days of private guiding.
The previous day was wild with no visibility, heavy snow and strong winds however day two with an early start and finish was just perfect along with much improved climbing conditions.
We weren’t sure of the avalanche conditions give the previous days weather so were delighted that our winter climbing venue was not only well sheltered from any wind but was also low risk using a cautious approach by rappelling in from above and checking cornice and slope stability of the approach and exit.
So great day on superb snow ice on ‘Hookers’ and plenty of time to chat and for a bit of technique coaching and looking at abseiling and holding falls with a belay device as Eddie wasn’t a regular climber!
And yes we had red faces and wore sunglasses all day! 😎
