@jay other than Crazy Earl, every other character you named had a full story arc. TK's started before the events of BL1 and you get a bit of it from that game, but you learn the full story in BL2, completing his story arc in a more unorthodox, retroactive manner than is in traditional writing methods for character arcs.
The fact the man survived getting ripped apart by Scar and dragged his wife's corpse back home with one leg while blinded is a testament to how amazing he was.
thats not a big archivement ava is all around a crap character any other character can beat her by simply barely talking or talking in less annoying ways,
I guess T. K didn't want to come to Sanctuarty not just for the canon break, but also to avoid being shot in the head. After all, he just want some brains.
T.K was my favorite NPC, so friendly and with a great sense of humor, the type of guy i would see myself drinking beer with while listening to all his crazy story
"Hey thanks. I know it's rough out there, and... some folks don't have the time to help others, much less themselves. It means a lot." - TK, when you do all his quests
He was just a farmer fleeing corporate greed but ended up losing everything going to the nacho flavored, hemroid wrapped in bacon smelling desert hellhole of a vault planet pandora Edit: yes he’s a weapon designer first but he became a farmer after settling
"...., but I didn't wanna mess with canon." Now that's how you write an NPC XDDDD I just love the Borderlands Series with their Jokes ^^ Especially when they or the Characters make fun of themselves.
If TK in general wasn't already badass enough, the Lady Fist you get from doing his quest in Borderlands 2 is one of my favorite pistols in the game. An 800% multiplier to critical hits makes the gun melt even if your enemies are 10-20 levels above the weapon's level of damage.
His Shotgun in BL3 dropped for me at level 5 and carried me until level 30 die to it's massive amount of damage. The Lady Finger in BL1 was insanely strong too. Especially with a Pistol Mordecai build.
I know you barely see this guy in bl 1 but this is still the kind of story telling I miss in the third one this feels so much more mature also making the jokes feel better imo
The fun part is: By all accounts, it does seem that the Zombie Island is canon. Undead-Ned-Trap does exist in the Robot Robolution DLC, which is regarded as canon.
The conclusion to that has been that since Marcus also lied about himself getting shot during the revolution. It's agreed that he just tells the story somewhat unreliably at times. atleast in theory
so the canon end of uncle teddy mission on BL2 is we give weapon blueprint to hyperion, so the Tidal wave shotgun (mission reward on BL2) is exist on BL3 meanwhile ladyfist pistol isn't
I was super sad when he died but can’t say I wasn’t expecting it. I was like “aw he’s so sweet and his relationship is wholesome and- he’s going to die isn’t he?”
I never finished BL1 I had no clue about T.K.'s passing in such a gruesome way. I'm shocked. speechless even. I always wondered what happened to him. Now I know. This tragedy makes me very sad.
my favorite part is "but i didn't wanna mess with canon." that is just so borderlands lol. it honestly reminds me of shakespeare, the way richard iii constantly talks to the audience and makes references to the audience POV as if he's aware he's in a fictional story
It’s sad they killed off Tk Baha in the first game, would’ve been nice to seem him more in Borderlands 2, Borderlands: the Presequel, Tales of the Borderlands, and Borderlands 3
He has another voice line in the bloody harvest headhunter saying that he once had Lilith, brick, Roland and Mordecai go out and get brains for him. Not really important just thought I’d add that
I'd like to see a history of Nurse Nina, given that in PS, Marcus still supplies ammo and weapons via vending machines, but Dr. Zed's machines are replaced by Nina's.
My god i had no idea that zombie in bl2 had such story...i thought it was just a funny character filled in to humour us in the dlc. Damn borderlands you never seize to amaze me..
TK baha felt like such a nice and warm hearted guy...his death was kinda unnecessary because borderlands1 was more of an edgy "nice ppl die" kinda story rather then being elaborate
The echologs of TK in Bl2 absolutely cracked me up. "me and the wife had to move to pandroa, but I'm sure it'll be fine" ..."wellp, my wife's dead. But I'm gonna kill the skag that killed her!" ... "skag blinded me n ate ma leg" N his life echolog before he died is just "well here are some bandits, but I'm sure it'll be fine" 😂 His life was nothing but misfortune, but in the funniest way
When I did the Uncle Teddy quest in 2 someone made the choice for me of giving me the TK Wave instead of the Ladyfinger. Una cursed me out but the Wave carried me through my 2nd run.
That’s funny never heard of this guy until today when just before I got off my playthrough of borderlands 2 I just got into the beginning of the Halloween dlc and talked to this guy not having a clue who he was
"...aside from this he doesn't do much." 4:57 Are you serious? lol what about his dialogue?! Stewed brain, poached brain, boiled brain, Bar-B-Que'd brain, brain a-la-mode, brain a-la-carte, pan fried brain, deep fried brain, brain cream, brain on a stick, baked brains, brain sauce, brain soup...RAW BRAINS. etc etc etc lmaooo
Wierd I thought it was gonna be considered strange that I think TK might be in my top 3 characters in borderlands 1 and possibly in my top 10 in the series
Last night I couldn't sleep cuss I accidentally gave the weapon blueprint to Hyperion cuss I assumed the further waypoint was a Hyperion outpost and so I turn it in the mailbox.
I always thought they could make like a reference to baja blast using one of TK'S weapons, especially since baha and Baja are both spelt differently. Missed opportunity.
I hope his daughter works her way to the top of Hyperion to claim her families rightful place and get rid of those who wronged it, like Rhys did for Atlas.
Honestly it seems to be canonical in some fashion. The claptrap revolution does happen according to canon, and Undead Dr. Ned appears in there, being controlled by claptrap. Which indicates the DLC is canonical. TK appearing in it then would have at least some canonicity. But i can also see why to treat it as non-canon from a storytelling standpoint. I mean... If we're going canonically speaking... most any character we see die can just be resurrected as a zombie- then again claptrap somehow got the body of a dead crimson raider leader, a woman who was impaled and swallowed by the destroyer, and an undead rotting corpse, slapped a brain in a jar on their heads, and made them into extra bosses... So honestly back when they didn't know if a sequel was planned, they went all out with the loopy, so canonically speaking somewhere out there it IS possible to just... resurrect people, regardless of zombification or not... It would just make the whole story less impactful though. I mean... TK seems to have retained his sentience, so if it works like that, you could just have undead roland back as well, or undead maya, and it just would ruin the impact of their deaths.
In this game, the craziest characters have the best story arcs, T.K, Crazy Earl, Krieg, Tiny Tina are just some examples

Although short lived, tk is one of the best embodiments of what borderlands truley is.

T.K. Baha, Scooter and Crazy Earl are my favorites from BL1! Great characters
T.K. Baha reminds me a lot of TF2's engineer. From the mannerisms down to the face and goggles.
Dammit now i want a community mod that adds T.K. Baha’s outfit items as misc items for engineer.
I never thought he had much of a backstory when I first saw him in Borderlands 1
When you realize that people in borderlands are kind super human.
