For the early game, before you can access revolvers at level 13, your best bet is to get the TK missions and farm larva/skags in the shock crystal cave nearby the bandit camp you find the mining gate note in. The red chests in that cave can also provide revolvers, making it very efficient (it's actually a great farm for any run of the game). Also, Mashers can often last far longer than most other guns - definitely worth trying to find new ones as you go through the game. And, fun fact, Reaver is Mordecai's original model.
I think snipers suck in BL1 anyways unless you get a Volcano or something similar. Revolvers are almost always better especially Mashers which are basically pocket shotguns with the range of a sniper. It wasn't until BL2 where snipers became a god-tier weapon type that'll dominate almost anything.

Oh man, I haven't even finished the video, but I gotta share this little nugget I found out from way back when I played BL1: Revolvers and Rocket Launchers are level-gated. If I recall correctly, they only start spawning at around level 13.
Revolvers, Launchers, and Transfusions are level 13+ Rains, and Eridians (with two exceptions) are level 17+ You can find them before then, but they only spawn at that minimum level.
I always thought launchers were a little after revolvers, cause I would always end up getting revolvers around the sledge stuff, while I didn't start getting launchers until around the Skagzilla stuff, because that is the only thing I remember from that whole area
I love revolvers in bl1. I wish they beefed them up in bl2 because they are way weaker than the repeater style pistol. I missed where you said this was your first play through. Hope you enjoyed it enough to come back to it. I know i have in the past. Also, this video was almost the perfect length imo. The content was also good as well as the script you had to describe everything.
well they were nerfed to match the "pistol" weapon tree which repeaters and revolvers were apart of in BL1 which if you think about it, made Mordicais' "gunslinger"/pistol main tree bloody broken because he had TWO ammo types and gun types to his name for ammo usage and dps, which was both the revolvers ammo and the repeaters ammo and they both benefited from his skill tree giving him two gun his perks worked with vs every other charcters skill tree which only benefited 1 gun for that tree, so Mordicai actually had 3 main guns which went as followed being snipers, repeaters, and revolvers. if you ask me if you did a build that used all three of his trees and used them effectively Mordicai could easily become a very dangerous character to use because how much ammo he had at his disposal for his THREE main guns. also to put that into prospective, if you pit The Assassin (Zer0) vs The Hunter (Mordiacai) skill trees they are virtually the same with the diffrence being their action skill tree to buff their action skills, they both main pistols and snipers with the only difference Mordicai gets 3 ammo/gun types vs Zer0 getting 2, what does this mean? Mordicais' loadouts run 3 gun slots as 1.Sniper, 2.Repeater, 3.revolver, 4.Gun of your preference (and keep in mind the more you used a gun type the more dmg reload time stability etc you got as that was a thing in BL1 and revolver and repeater each gave exp to the pistol tree) Vs a Zer0's loadout being either 4 different nipers for a sniper lv80 OP10 build or 4 different pistols for a lv80 op10 pistols build or like this being 1.Sniper then 3 guns of your pref if casual if your going the sniper tree or it went 1. Pistol of your choice then 3 guns of your pref to use. if you really think about it, Mordicai could wipe the floor with Zero0 due to how he could build his weapons' and scale off them with how BL1 worked my guy, sorry for the long write up and i tried to make in concise to why they "nerfed" revolvers in BL2, more like reworked them but still.
@@Matthias_Prudholm but the real difference is the fact that Maggie is the only masher type revolver in bl2 I believe all they’re strength not on mordo came from being mashers honestly

You can get a revolver with the 2 legendary weapons at the start of the game. All you need to do is reset until one of the weapons is the "Violence" and you are good to go.
Tips: make a new character until you get a violence revolver, its really useful early game and would have saved you the pain of not having a weapon for a while. You can also visit the knoxx dlc for a few levels, aswell as the jakobs cove although its a bit harder to do when you're underleveled. You can farm things like mashers in new haven as theres loads of chests there, other than that theres not much of a reason to change how you beat the game
The first time I played borderlands I went with brick and specked into rocket launchers. I didn't find a rocket launcher till the very end of the play through lol
Lv.13 is a tier for Jakobs, Tediore, S&S Munitions, and Anshin. 3:57 Two whites in a red chest. Bummer! 6:50 Good parts, good material type, best prefix. Looks like it has barrel4 (most powerful barrel type and most especially fun on a Masher). Also has mat3, best Jakobs material type, which grants the "XX" prefix. That means it can blast enemies back! 7:16 [cue Pantera reference] 9:22 Totally! They're no less challenging, but you're actually able to stagger them by nailing them in the carapace with a strong enough shot or strike. 10:42 Fun fact: Krom was voiced by Roland. ua-cam.com/video/Dyot1N9St1E/v-deo.html 15:08 Kinda like the later parts of OG Halo. 17:43 How about a BL1 allegiance run? I'd suggest researching class mods on the Borderlands wiki so you can base your character/brand around that. Allegiance runs are less fun when you can't use class mods or can't fill in all yer slots. For example, there are no S&S class mods for Brick, no Tediore class mods for Lil, et cetera. Each character has high synergy with certain brands. S&S Mordy would be interesting and fun.
borderlands1 revolvers are by far and away my absolute fucking favorite gun in any borderlands game it's such a shame the later games could not capture the absolute beautiful sound design and gunfeel of borderlands1 revolvers
Yeah, mashers are my favorite kinds of revolver. I always find atleast one golden masher with regenerating ammo, or atleast one with very high accuracy. And then just running around giving hip fire headshots like a fucking cowboy. Can't express how satisfying it is to see their head just explode, especially against psychos or zombies in Zombie island of doctor Ned.
In my experience, yes, more than beatable lol. I did that naturally in my most recent playthrough as Brick of all people. The game only wanted to drop nice revolvers for me the entire time. Used a lvl 20 legendary explosive revolver for the majority of the playthrough. Thing regenerated ammo too, made things so trivial.
I always do a mix tree, I focus on getting bloodwing able to kill multiple opponents first, then I go through the gunslinger tree to get the time reduction perk. Though I love the absolute ridiculousness of the perk that let's you shoot 2 bullets with a trigger pull with pistols, repeater pistols are absolute shredders lol
The best part of BL1 is the Revolvers. The Mashers are so fun to use. It's unfortunate that they lost their unique identity in the following games, but it made sense to simplify the weapon system.
Simplify the weapon system? That's not a good thing at all. The best thing about borderlands is it's complex weapons and dumbing it down was the worst thing they could've possibly done. So no, it doesn't make sense at all.
My favorite gun I ever got in the original Borderlands was a 2 shot corrosive revolver with stupid amounts of damage and absurd range. I loved it so much I cheated and used willowtree to bring it up to my level
My first crawmerax kill at max level was using my gunslinger mordecai and a masher unforgiven that 1-2 shot its weak spots, really miss how strong revolvers used to be in BL1.
Short answer:yes Long answer: Meet your new bestie, the Jakobs Unforgiven served Masher style. Enjoy it! Cause it NEVER appears like that in any other game.
I have what is essentially a low level masher. It's got the slow fire rate of one. Plus the damage multiplier. But, also includes 10 ammo regen. This thing has carried me for 13 levels so far. 847 damage from a level 20 revolver.
There some god teir late game revolvers. Caustic and static Laws can be just short of game breaking. If you played the dlc and got an Aries, you’d pretty much be set forever
Can you beat Borderlands 1 with ONLY Revolvers!? - Depends on what you mean, are early pistols allowed or are you gonna try to break the game in some way? I'll be honest, I think that any challenge that requires some exploit to be done are stupid.
also the whole fact in borderlands 1 you get bonuses the more you use one weapon type which i partly didn't like sense at a point one weapon type be 100% better then the rest making it harder to switch it up but at the same time love it because it meant your favorite weapon type will improve with time and those bonuses arent a joke normally i think some bonuses go up to 100%
Yeah I get it. I'm trying to level launchers and eridian weapons rn and it's so frustrating because they reload so so slowly in comparison to the other weapons. I basically power leveled pistols at the start of the game this pkaythrough I've been doing until I got to sledge, then I literally used nothing but shotguns until they got to level 9 then I focused on SMG's. It's brutal when you're grinding for the sake of grinding and being over-leveled.
I got the Patton in my first run and used to to finish the zombie island unlike in the later games with the harrold the revolvers in 1 were very balanced but you could get some great one like the chimera I believe and the anaconda
The first minute in omg I got such a nostalgia boner I love this game this was like one of the first games I've ever played and one of the first shooters I've ever played so I still have a special place in my heart for today
Also you could've pretty much fallen asleep and let your cat play and still beaten eridian promontory. Mordecai has a skill called trespass that ignores enemy shields 100%
earliest revolver is the chest in the little offshoot-cave in the area for the bladeflower seeds quest from T.K. Baha. the chest produces items well above your current character level when you reach it and fairly consistently produces higher item categories like revolvers rockets and snipers. on a related note it is also the earliest possible rocket launcher and earliest source of a few grenade mods. on a less related note I wonder what version of the game you're running: usually in borderlands 1 most forms of skag (everything but pups and spitters) are essentially immune to getting shot from the front, to the point where they will regularly crush projectile-based opponents even through the full level disbalance range. can't even shoot the damned things with rockets or other explosives since for some insane reason they count as hitting the armor if any part of the splash touches any armored part leaving them taking less damage from The Hive (Gearbox rocket launcher, OPAF) than they do from a random pistol or smg bullet hitting them in the foot.
I play the base BL1 on 360 still and I have no clue what you're talking about with the skags. At the same level shooting them with a weapon that does 40 damage will only cause 17 points of damage, if they're higher level than you, no damage, if you shoot them while they got their mouth open, full damage. Idk how all the variables change and whatnot but skags aren't invincible from the front, and any weapons that do elemental damage; mainly the flame and acid are very effective for taking out skags.
@@SeviathTheHumanDrago I guess the question then becomes what version am _I_ playing, because they act pretty much exactly like I described both for interacting with me across several characters and interacting with other enemies.
@@evernewb2073 That is indeed the question lol. I don't have any mods for any of my games, so when I see people who have mods installed talking about Lore and game mechanics sometimes I'm like 🤔 "That's not how that's supposed to work." Lol
@@SeviathTheHumanDrago that's the weird part: no mods here either, it's downloaded from steam and I haven't been forcing it not to update so it's probably not basegame 1.0 but I don't have anything weird going on. the other strange part is that those armored areas ARE part of the bae game mechanics, it's not just the spiderants that get it, the reason corrosive is so weirdly bad is because it is supposed to be for punching through those armored areas. it technically is better for that than anything else but ~200% better is still essentially nothing when it's 200% of less than 1%. about the only time you see the mechanic work even remotely correct is that some versions of the atlas troops can sometimes get parts of their armor melted off by corrosive...it's not common or useful enough to see it happen for me to have gone and figured out the actual mechanics even when my default weapon for dealing with them is usually a corrosive maliwan revolver or shotgun. no sense shooting an armor plate 20 times to make it so that you can shoot the shoulder twice when you can just shoot the head once or foot/leg twice to begin with.
@@evernewb2073 Yeah try the OG 360 version and compare it to the steam version. I've never seen pieces of their armor melt off until after someone is killed but its only via the effect. oh man an early masher drop is always so insane you can use that thing from lvl 13 to 40 easily
I remember starting bl2 and being like "yo where's the revolver ammo, oh its just pistol ammo now" wish they did something similar in 2
Tips: make a new character until you get a violence revolver, its really useful early game and would have saved you the pain of not having a weapon for a while. You can also visit the knoxx dlc for a few levels, aswell as the jakobs cove although its a bit harder to do when you're underleveled. You can farm things like mashers in new haven as theres loads of chests there, other than that theres not much of a reason to change how you beat the game
Haven't even watched it yet. Yes, yes you can. Playing gunslinger morti is a very fond memory of mine.
Wow I didn't know you actually get to be part of the story and like cutscenes and stuff in borderlands 1, that's rad
I saw the title and immediately thought "well yea, the masher is nuts"
The first time I played borderlands I went with brick and specked into rocket launchers. I didn't find a rocket launcher till the very end of the play through lol
Aren’t rocket launchers garbage in bl1?
That actually was cool the way you ran up that ramp and killed the rack.
7:16 [cue Pantera reference]
9:22 Totally! They're no less challenging, but you're actually able to stagger them by nailing them in the carapace with a strong enough shot or strike.
10:42 Fun fact: Krom was voiced by Roland. ua-cam.com/video/Dyot1N9St1E/v-deo.html
15:08 Kinda like the later parts of OG Halo.
S&S Mordy would be interesting and fun.
borderlands1 revolvers are by far and away my absolute fucking favorite gun in any borderlands game
it's such a shame the later games could not capture the absolute beautiful sound design and gunfeel of borderlands1 revolvers
At 2:10 is it a bioshock reference(would you kindly give him a hand)
yeah, mashers are amazing with mordecai’s perks
The Destroyer looks like the tentacle monster from Watchmen
In my experience, yes, more than beatable lol. I did that naturally in my most recent playthrough as Brick of all people. The game only wanted to drop nice revolvers for me the entire time. Used a lvl 20 legendary explosive revolver for the majority of the playthrough. Thing regenerated ammo too, made things so trivial.
Bl1 gunplay still feels great (to me) its fun
Mordecais Gunslinger tree was so much fun.
You can beat it with revolvers. I still remember offing craw with the OG Unforgiven with a masher prefix, The true skullmasher.
Oh, yeah. Sweet nostalgia.
I saw a borderlands like fanmade game onces where you shoot only robots who look and sound a bit like claptrap
Can you beat BL2 as Salvador with only the fibber PS Trick shots would be so awesome
yes
Really enjoyed your video man , you got a new subscriber
I got a purple revolver that lasted me ~10 levels last time i played thru it
Revolvers are so strong in bl1
My favorite gun I ever got in the original Borderlands was a 2 shot corrosive revolver with stupid amounts of damage and absurd range. I loved it so much I cheated and used willowtree to bring it up to my level
"Have you seen mah gun?"
At least you got something cool for revolver playthrough 2
Yoo I love the content keep going🤘
Love the challenges!😀
My first crawmerax kill at max level was using my gunslinger mordecai and a masher unforgiven that 1-2 shot its weak spots, really miss how strong revolvers used to be in BL1.
you should play the dlc's, those are really good, especially the Armory of General Knoxx dlc as it shows partly the downfall of Atlas
You can always travel to underdome to find revolvers there in shop
The chimera is still one of my absolute favorite weapons in any game
Short answer:yes Long answer: Meet your new bestie, the Jakobs Unforgiven served Masher style. Enjoy it! Cause it NEVER appears like that in any other game.
Yes you can they were strong. I'll like and watch anyways
Love mordecai he was my first char I picked when I played
I have what is essentially a low level masher. It's got the slow fire rate of one. Plus the damage multiplier. But, also includes 10 ammo regen. This thing has carried me for 13 levels so far. 847 damage from a level 20 revolver.
There some god teir late game revolvers. Caustic and static Laws can be just short of game breaking. If you played the dlc and got an Aries, you’d pretty much be set forever
ive done this playthrough before it was a lot of fun
You can get a gearbox revolver or you can find a chest with a revolver in it but if you are lucky only so its still valid 100%
Keep it up man awesome video.
Revolvers are some of my favorite weapons in bl1
Sounds like my normal playthough
Turns out Captain Flynt had 2 brothers. One is Zane (Yes, the playable vault hunter) in addition to Baron
A Gunslinger with
+80 or +90
And Ammo Regen
Would have made a massive difference
I love the vids plz make more
Joltzdude crying the entire time...
In goty you could restart your character to have a chance of getting a legendary revolver
I got the Patton in my first run and used to to finish the zombie island unlike in the later games with the harrold the revolvers in 1 were very balanced but you could get some great one like the chimera I believe and the anaconda
🤓🤓🤓umm actualy claptrap wasnt anoying in bl 1 he just was yuor guied and mission teller
BL1 is just Amazing.
The first minute in omg I got such a nostalgia boner I love this game this was like one of the first games I've ever played and one of the first shooters I've ever played so I still have a special place in my heart for today
i remember when i first played it that i was scared to leave fyrestone because baddies were out there at night
Also you could've pretty much fallen asleep and let your cat play and still beaten eridian promontory. Mordecai has a skill called trespass that ignores enemy shields 100%
awesome vid bro
Here’s an idea, beating borderlands 1 with only mashers
earliest revolver is the chest in the little offshoot-cave in the area for the bladeflower seeds quest from T.K. Baha. the chest produces items well above your current character level when you reach it and fairly consistently produces higher item categories like revolvers rockets and snipers. on a related note it is also the earliest possible rocket launcher and earliest source of a few grenade mods.
on a less related note I wonder what version of the game you're running: usually in borderlands 1 most forms of skag (everything but pups and spitters) are essentially immune to getting shot from the front, to the point where they will regularly crush projectile-based opponents even through the full level disbalance range. can't even shoot the damned things with rockets or other explosives since for some insane reason they count as hitting the armor if any part of the splash touches any armored part leaving them taking less damage from The Hive (Gearbox rocket launcher, OPAF) than they do from a random pistol or smg bullet hitting them in the foot.
Which is why having the higher effect chance matters. I love watching the bandits melt or burn to death lol animation is so neat!
You should've went to tbone junction and leveld up fast there and got a revolver from moxie dlc. Thank you kindly for the heads up jultz with that one.
Cannot believe you ended the game like that and fully missed the opportunity to make a six shooter pun considering you had exactly 6 bullets left.
This is fire man keep making videos like this
revolvers are OP in bl1.
you can get a revolver at the start of the game as one of the gear box weapons i believe
Shit now I wanna play, cuz shit wasn't the first borderlands game but didn't have money for dlc on bl2 but found the game of the year on the og and got it for 10 at gamestop and ended up playing that game a lot, funny as hell, felt smooth with combat for the most part and overall fun dlc. Even got to know some people that played it and they gave me molded weapons which I still have cuz I transferred my characters from ps3 to ps4
bro has the tiniest amount of a southern accent i have ever heard
I miss TK RIP TK
He didn’t have to go out like that 😢
