Fixing the worst Golf Club Repair EVER!!!!!

- Sometimes repairs go wrong, sometime people try to cover their tracks. Sometimes It needs to come to a professional to fix. Certainly this is the first time I've seen a golf club in this condition. Let go over shaft pulls, head clean out, Rattle removals.

I totally agree and have never loaned out any of my golf or other sports equipment but have you noticed how 'funny' people are when you decline?
It's almost like they feel they have a right to borrow it!

does anyone use the PETRONIO’S #8 RUBBER CEMENT to install grips(instead of the conventional way)- it allows you to just blow the grip off and re use the grip anytime you want. Its handy especially when/ if you wanna shorten or add length without having to just cut the grip off and install a new grip every time. I am constantly tinkering with length/swing weight so I have some grips I've taken off and put back on 6-7 times with no problems. Its really simple instead of sticky tape you use just plain masking tape-the glue bonds to the tape after a few minutes. You have to use something other than a Lamkin grip- most of those will still blow up(with the air hose) and have to be discarded. I use golf pride and super soft-no problems installing and re installing. It only takes about 30-50 lbs of pressure to blow the grip off when installed via the cement and I've never had a grip break lose from the glue during play. Just search for it online-a place here in Memphis sells it by the gallon. A gallon should last a few dozen set builds at least.
Acetone will remove the epoxy. Hot water to remove the ferrule. The hot water will loosen the glue without damaging or discoloring the shaft.
All due respects, applying heat to a graphite shaft creates a weak spot. The shaft will break in the future.
Very interesting. Just one question. You mention the flame can get the shaft or club head too hot if you are not careful. Why not use a heat gun then, is it because the flame can be directed and isolated better? Great video many thanks.
Now I’m waiting for a part 2. Apoxsee the new adapter and take a few swings at it. Maybe even the customers reaction

Acetone will break down epoxy but what it will do to other components of the driver head I don’t know. 100% Acetone...
It also likes to eat paint, liberal amount on the ferrule is ok but every where else is minimize

It's crazy to me that some drivers look so beat up! I have a Ping 410 like what 1 or 2 years old.....looks brand new damn near...just a little scuffing on the face...I mean very little

I just watched this 3 year old vid. MCgolf, you just F this guys driver head. Id ask the boys at golf works how to do this properly.

Jb weld is not a good idea it does not withstand repeated banging. Get some golf shaft epoxy n some shafting beads both r very inexpensive. Th beads are are like very smooth superfine sand, that helps center th shaft during install. N helps adhesion.

You might try using a Dremel Tool with a long grinding stone bit.

i really appreciate the attention to detail that Jim showed my old clubs!!I'm so happy with the new shafts...I'm sure the kids at Dicks who kept throwing more glue at it didn't really understand what they were doing. So much for saving money on a reshaft....

I have a Cobra Speed Zone 10.5 driver that I purchased used. Played with it most of the spring and summer with mixed results. My golfing buddy noticed my strikes seemed to be erratic at best. He finally suggested that maybe the club had a potential issue. I layed the driver aside and began using my old Ping G-20 3 fairway wood. I immediately gained 30-40 yards on my previous driver distances. Have you ever found drivers to go "dead"? I've looked it over carefully and can't detect any cracks. Shaft and hosel seem to be fine. The performance is very lack luster at best.
So me being an impatient teen golfer, I assembled Apex CF16s to DG 120’s (pulls from Ping i210s) with JB Weld...it worked ok. None of the heads have flown off yet. My 5 iron head was cracked so I had to buy one. The new one was filled with glue and metal spacers like someone stuffed it. I ended up drilling it out with what I thought was the correct sized bit. It was too big. After glueing it and letting it set, the next day I look at it and the and head and shaft were not straight. The head was stock lie, but the shaft made it feel 5* upright. Oops.

With an after market shaft. Which most likely costed $250+ extra. When you take the time and money to be fitted for a golf club, it becomes more than "olny" a club.
@@JayCHales then be more careful who you lend it out to....most golfers I know don't have expensive rigs.
I think if you mess up your buddy's club......own up to it. That repair may have been done before you borrowed it. Don't make it worse! :)
I would like to attempt my own repair. Just a few questions: Can acetone or lacquer thinner be used to dissolve the epoxy inside the hole? For adhesive, can JB Weld be used? What is final diameter of drill bit? Thank you.

Any advice on a place to get some used introductory club building tools. Mainly looking for a shaft puller and a lie angle machine. New ones seem to cost a fortune.
I've just bought a Ping G driver head and want to put my current driver shaft on the club as it was fitted to my swing. Can you recommend an aftermarket shaft hosel adaptor for a Ping G driver. Where on the old shaft do I need to measure to get the right size for the tip diameter?

Just to say love your channel and I will only regrip clubs myself as with the right products and tools it ok but for repairs I would let professionals like yourself take care of the job.
I'm no expert, but if someone told me they were going to epoxy my shaft adapter into the head I'd not allow them around my clubs.

Question sir? I'm seeing quite a drop off in distance with shots hit towards the toe, within the score lines of hollow back irons. I'm thinking that these heads aren't perimeter weighted. My question, is there a iron head that can be hit towards the toe without a lot of loss of distance. My Mizuno 900's dont seem to have this issue unless you really get it on the toe. Have you experienced this with any of your hollow back heads? Thanks.
The hollow back irons typically don’t have as much”meat” around the perimeter in order to have a back on them. It’s all distribution of weight. One could say the there’s more face to rebound so the ball go better. When I say hollow body, I’m talking about sets such as the launch or launch pad irons not, 790s or modb1 irons
Ah, so you can buff off the sky ball marks.
You need to keep the items further back then zoom in afterwards, the camera isn't auto focusing for 'macro' type shots.

Do you ever do anything with refinishing and replating different metals to irons? I do club repair for a custom shop in South Carolina and am looking at expanding our offerings
from a polishing standpoint i do however refinishing is very time consuming and regulatory expensive.
