      Their mother had money in the closet. We don't know how much all that cost but they likely used that money to get everything that wasn't easy to get ahold of.

    Whats great about this scene is it shows us Ed's only learned enough to start moving forward, but he's no where near the man he'll be at the end of the series. The writers made a good choice in showing his arrogance here, he's a little kid with a lot of power and knowledge but only one traumatizing event as experience.

    damn, way to cut off the ending.
    In case anyone is wondering he says about the sun, "it's just a mass of hydrogen. Get too close to it, like Cornello claims, and you'll just burn up." in reference to the story of Icarus

    Believe me, Al, your brother isn't the only one who does that. It happens just as frequently in real life as it does in fiction, when people are cynical or pessimistic or worry a lot, or any resulting combination thereof. They always push and force their negative views onto others; they can never seem to keep it to themselves for some reason. :S They always try to convert people, like they're in some kind of cult. x_x

    I don’t understand how Ed thinks there’s no god when he knows a soul exists. That’s something beyond science.

    • @Bloodyidit
      @Bloodyidit 3 роки тому +37

      It's a scientist's conceit to say that a soul is within science, because to that scientist, it's an unknown factor that will eventually be known.

    • @lanthelancer
      @lanthelancer 2 роки тому +29

      To be fair in the FMA universe souls are technically just considered a form of energy, even later in the series they reveal that souls are the energy that fuels alchemy.

      From what I can tell, it's a bit of Nietzschean philosophy: That God is Dead because we killed Him and it will be up to us to fill that void. Many atheists take that as a challenge to be like God, when Nietzsche was decrying the egotistical nature of the entire dilemma.

    • @wtfduud
      @wtfduud 2 роки тому +5

      Not to mention he has literally met god.

    • @claydogg234
      @claydogg234 Рік тому

      Folks you're missing the point. The particular god Rose believes in isn't real regardless of the semi spiritual dimensions of alchemy. And the spiritual dimensions if you even wanna call them that are more akin to deist figures than any theist one like Rose believes. The show is more about the balance and forces of nature which are like a God if you wanna call it that. I find FMA's view of God like Spinoza's. But Ed is also wrong to reduce humans to bear scientific measurements as science without ethics and acknowledgment of nature's laws isn't enough for a moral society. One needs to look beyond religious dogma and scientific literalism to see the worth in humanity and nature.

    I loved this approach to “what’s the meaning of life”
    Yeah u can buy the “available buyable” shit that makes up the physical aspect of a human body in flesh but the key element in EVERY HUMAN BEING is the SPIRIT that animates the clay/flesh we call a body. Yes u can be born but if u don’t have “Spirit” or a soul what is the value of that life. NOBODY AND I MEAN NOBODY CAN REPLICATE OR FORGE A SOUL. Not even a father or mother that births baby’s. Woman are incubators that hold the sperm that a man puts in her. Men are sperm holders that put said sperm in women to start the process of life creating man and women are just starting tools of creating life after thst neither party has control of its creation. if thst was the case we could all order children(life) like DoorDash. Then what would mean “life” has no meaning which would also be a big ass slap in the face of god and his sacrifice.
