I'm getting increasingly excited for this. Small in size, simple in mechanics, deep in decision-making. I'm especially excited because of Grey Gnome Games' tendency to make expansions. Extra villagers and waves sound very exciting.
As always, such intelligent design in a small simple package. Easy to learn with some depth. Love the art work and look forward to the Crowd Sale. Great job!
This game is awesome both in gameplay and the artwork. Hardcore on the back of the cards was a great idea, its easy to fine tune the difficulty for fun. Thank you for creating this one
I was excited when my copy from The Game Crafter arrived yesterday, and I"ve stayed up after my wife went to sleep to play along while I watched your video. The instruction cards are a little hard for me to read, but your vid made everything quite clear. Great little game, and in my arsenal of small box/big experience portable board games, this adds a tower defence game. Well done!
I've played this a number of times, but this time I decided to watch this video first. In about five minutes of watching I found TWO things that I'm doing wrong! Thanks for making it, and be sure to tell your daughter that her commentary was really helpful! (I know this was done two years ago; hope she still likes gaming with Dad!)
Hello. Loving the Game. Just received last weekend. I just had a quick question. If I calm the fear of the town and move the fear token to the left and then the enemy brings the fear to the right again, landing me on the same hero space again, can I draw another hero? In other words can I keep going back-and-forth and keep drawing heroes? Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I understood all rules correctly when learning for the first time. Dumb me could not figure out what those commands were the rules are refering to. I looked almost everywhere and eventually came here to finally see they are on the back of the turn sequence aaaaaahhhh. :D
i would really love to get a copy of gate+gates and tin helm, but unfortunately the delivery to germany is more expensive than the game itself. the games do look really great tho! great work!
I like this. I guess, narrative wise, the monsters kamikaze at the gate for 1DMG. As I saw this, I was wondering, if it were tweaked so that the monster(s) just keep chucking at the gate until defeated, that would make this super intense. The money thing would definitely have to change, like some 'passive' income based on farm health or fear. Anyway, great stuff! I'm in!
I am glad you are enjoying it! It is my favorite type of game to design. The challenge of trying to keep it small just gets my neurotransmitters firing!
Could the farmer card (along with the +1 coin bonus from the Farm location card) been used to buy the mercenary in the first play? Instead of using two coin/character cards?
I just got the game and had the same question. Also why wasn't it 2 attack it the first attack also with the Tower +1? Maybe I'm playing wrong.. Fun little game, like it ❤
Just got the game and I like it alot. One question. In the "final stand" can you keep bringing your cards from the discard pile to the draw pile like the regular turns or do you only have one pass? I was one point away from winning before I ran out of cards.
Hi. Nice tutorial. I'm a bit puzzled. At 32 minutes, your able assistant removes 2 cards from the discard pile, for two gold. I couldn't quite work out what was said or why two citizens were taken out of the game. Can you help? Thank you.
Only one citizen was removed and it was the Tax Collector. Her special ability allows you to discard/trash her if she is in your discard. She is a nice cheap card early on that gives you some good income to help build your deck, but late game, when you are more focused on combat and repairing, she is not useful. My daughter was wise to discard her here as she was about to draw new cards and she needed to defeat the last enemy and the Tax Collector would have been a bad card to draw. Thanks for the question!

Hi Jason - I have a question. Let's say, for example, I draw the Engineer card and it's in my hand, but I don't need to use it for any repairs because the health of all locations are at maximum. Can I put it in my discard pile, to be used in another round, or do I have to lose/waste it?
Question 2) If I use the Farmer card to repair The Farm from 5 to 6 (1 repair), can I use its +1 repair bonus to apply a repair to another location (since I technically did repair The Farm), or do I lose its +1 bonus?
Question 3) If I exhaust all Heroes, but get the opportunity to gain another Hero card, can the discarded Heroes be shuffled into a fresh Hero Deck, or have I lost the option to to draw another Hero? In other words, does "One time use" also apply in this situation?

Anyone know if the tower effect can take place if it's health is 4, or 4+? Edit: Also, the commands: with Caravan, it says to discard all the recruits; do we take the recruits and put them into the discard pile? seems like that bypasses the cost value of them if I can spend 2 gold to put them all into the discard pile which then eventually cycles into the hand...
There are only a few W1 monsters and their order on the track does not matter; either track locations should trigger different effects, or use more variety in the monsters. The enemies you defeat should give you some extra powers. Needs more iterations. Not interested in current version.

What happens if we run out of hero deck? I guess it's possible if I used a bunch of calm cards?

You may reshuffle your discard to create a new draw pile. Glad to hear you are enjoying the game!

Is it fair to say this game is too easy on standard mode and has to be played on hardcore for any real challenge?
