    About the Wired Ebike:
Be interesting if you lower the max speed to 28 and see how everything performs. That would make it class 3 street legal and you can see how it performs and still be street legal maybe. Should be interesting.
Just read the web site. They use a steel/Nylon gear. Tell us if the motor makes more noise than other bikes you ride.
Sounds like you can make the bike legal for your state. Talk about how you do that.

Russ is going to review a Wired e-bike! I am pretty sure that is a sign of the end of the world. But seriously, Russ you are going to love it. I own the 2024 Freedom and it's a blast. Can it go almost 40? Sure can. Do I go 40 often, nope. But it's nice to have that amazing power if/when needed or just to open it up from time to time and have some fun. I have had 100% positive service and support from Steve and Dan at Wired. They are good guys and love this hobby/sport of ours. Next thing you know, Russ will be reviewing eMTBs (which I ride the most) and that will certainly open up the gate to the Apocalypse.

Come ride the Fox River Valley trail. Plenty of bugs to eat on your ride along the river😂. I’ve never ridden a wired bike but have bikes that have plenty of torque and it is worth an opportunity to see what all the hype is about. It’s not always about speed but how much better the bike is to ride. Look forward to seeing the review

Yes I’ve seen them. Definitely a much safer place to ride than the streets of Palatine and since you’re a retired fella like myself the weekdays are a perfect time to ride without a lot of congestion of walkers. Climbing out of the river valley hills would be a great showcase for the Wired bikes power.

I’m looking forward to the review. That kind of class of bike is the only one I’d really be looking at going forward. I like being able to go on 35 mph roads without being blown off the road. In neighborhoods or on paths, I go slower, but it’s nice to have the option.

I'm a very laissez faire kind of person but e-bikes that can go faster than the Class 3 classification of 28mph may be what will ruin e-bikes for all of us.
New Jersey is now requiring operators of a Class 3 e-bike to have an operators license as well as registration and insurance.
The Village of Key Biscayne, Florida instituted an emergency ban on Feb 16, 2024 that makes the operation of an e-bike illegal on any village street. That emergency ban just became permanent as of today but is set to expire in 2025 unless it's renewed. I was just in Key Biscayne a couple of weeks ago and I can tell you that there were no e-bikes on the road. Lots of traditional bikes but no e-bikes. Why the ban? The Police Chief called it "mayhem" in the streets with e-bikes that were clocked going over 40 mph, weaving in and out of traffic, and not stopping at lights and stop signs typically ridden by teenagers.
Orlando, Florida has banned e-bikes on International Drive but that ban may widen in the future.
Yes, even a "legal" e-bike can cause "mayhem" but it is more likely that a rider with a souped up e-bike has the intent and potential to create more problems.
To re-iterate, I am not against ANY e-bike but these souped up are marketed as being fast and nowhere do they suggest riding safely within limits.

Iam 6 feet tall and 225 and my doctor would like my blood pressure to be around 120\70 and currently i am between 120 and 130 over 65-70. Ounce you get that Wired bike your probably will be using that one more often ,i would .UL will be a required thing soon i guess . i have a 30mph+ ebike and i hardly ever go above 12 mph. But extra power is always good to have . There is also lightweight goggles great for bugs

Lol when I was younger I could pedal 35 mph on level ground with a Raleigh 10 speed racer and close to 50 mph pedaling on a good hill. People have been pedaling at these speeds for longer than you have been alive. Tour de France riders have done 65 mph down mountains and probably can do 40 mph with those nice carbon fiber bikes. Then again you need to be fit to do this. Your car can do over 100 mph so do you drive 100mph down your street? So if the bike can go 40 mph are you going to drive like that all the time? Just end up eating a lot of battery and not going as far. With today's technology 20 to 25 mph is appropriate for speed and range but it's nice to have the extra power for certain situations like crossing busy intersections or in my area in Yukon it's outrunning Grizzly bears.

Just a word of caution...Never ever put your mail into one of those outside mail box's at the post office. If you put your hand inside the opening and reach down you will feel a bunch of letters all stuck together in a clump. Theievs put double stick tape in there and it catches about 20 or so envelopes. If your unfortunate and your one of the first 20 or so because after about 20 letters the rest will pass to the bottom since the sticky part will have letters stuck to it so the rest of the letters won't get stuck till the Theievs come and grab out all the letters then the process starts all over again. I noticed this about a year ago when I put my hand in I didn't hear my letter fall in and low and behold there was my letter stuck to the tape. I went inside the post office and told them what was going on and they said yes we know about the problem now for years we're "working on a fix" I Never do that anymore now I bring my letters inside and drop it off thru the inside one that one is fine. Same thing happens in most other states too. My sister in las vegas when I told her she found the same exact problem and post office there said same thing there working on a fix but have done nothing. Congrats on the new Lime green ebike.

Hey Russ, just wondering if the Wired is too heavy to put on your bike rack. I believe the bike weighs about 80 lbs w/o the batteries. It weighs 105 lbs with both batteries. It’d be nice to do a video picking up the bike with a tour of the Wired facility and owners.

Russ, glad that your health is getting better. Congrats on the weight loss. Assume that you are getting a front basket with the Wired bike. Agree with you that Mrs Right won’t ride it. You're gonna love the bike! I have both the 2024 Wired Freedom and Cruiser and LOVE them! You'll be getting the 2024 version 2 cruiser. The owners Steven and Dan are good guys who genuinely care about their customers. I run the Wired FB group and can tell you 99% of the owners absolutely love their bikes! Word of warning, once you go 60 volt is very hard to go back to 48 or even 52 volt! LoL The new versions have a Hentach 1500 watt nominal /3,000 watt peak nylon/metal geared hub motor with a potted (waterproof) 45 amp controller. The first version 2024 models have a 1500 watt nominal /2400 peak Hentach motors with a 40 amp controller. Enjoy your new Wired Russ!! Looking forward to your review!

Excellent Russ! I would suggest to go into the settings and set up your PAS to the exact mph you desire, as they're all adjustable now.
They adjust at 1% increments, so my guess is .4 mph per 1%, so you cane set it up really nice, plus you can set power level to your throttle as well.

The state of Texas determines that e-bikes must have a motor of less than 750w. Electric bicycles are considered bicycles and are allowed on roads and bike paths as long as they have pedals and top out at 20 mph with motor assist. So, we are kind of limited.

Don't know what happened with Wired. I talked to the owner of the company a couple of months ago, sent him text messages which took him forever to answer and then he told me he would have a bike for me in early August. I sent him another text about picking it up and never heard from him again. I've decided, if it happens, it happens, but I'm not holding my breath for it. He might have changed his mind about getting one to me. Who knows!

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is right now soliciting comments regarding federal regulations concerning Ebikes. (This only concerns the bike and its components, NOT batteries.)This effort has a great deal of support in the industry. As of your video the initial comment period is closing. In this phase, the CPSC will determine the scope and applicability of proposed changes, not the regs themselves (mechanical, speed and power, children vs adult, etc.) More public comment will be solicited once draft regulations are published.
Most US manufacturers/retailers are lobbying for California type regs that quite a few states have adopted; they are very similar to the current Federal classes of Ebikes. The real difference is that electric powered vehicles outside those constraints, I.e. speed greater than 28 mph, for example, may not, in the future, be allowed to be advertised or sold as Ebikes; they must be designated as motor vehicles. As such, it’s likely that most states will require that “bikes” like Wired or Sorron be registered, their operators licensed and will be excluded from public bike lanes and paths.
The CPSC makes note of the European standard of 25 kph/15.5 mph. If you think this is too slow, write to your representatives in DC. The Wild West days of Ebike manufacture are coming to an end. Make your voice heard. Don’t let the bike haters control the conversation!

    • @ArmandGirard
      @ArmandGirard 4 місяці тому

In addition to these bikes being labeled as motor vehicles, if one is to get into an accident and is at fault, that opens them to a lawsuit since they no longer have the protection of being classified as a bicycle.

E cells is run by a convicted murderer and was started while on house arrest. Before 11 years in prison, Mr Cleveland sold manufactured homes. He didn’t pay restitution and the victims family fought parole labeling him insincere and not repentant. Don’t believe me, just google David Cleveland NV. Explains why e cells is acting like a criminal organization.
