It is just me, or this video just came in on my recommendation after I finished watching Twilight of the Gods. And yes, I have tons of serious questions about the Norse lore.
I have an idea. Will you track down the source of the connection between (butterfly/moth), dreams, and poison? I have seen several Japanese (and similar) references. It feels like there is a story and historic connection.
Most stories about Loki tend to follow a pattern, something causes trouble for the gods, usually caused by Loki and he cleans up the mess with a mix of cunning, trickery, slap-stick, and the odd pregnancy; essentially Loki is the Chaotic Neutral Bard of the party, 'I F**k us into this situation, I will F**k us out of it.'
using clips from zack snyders Twilight of The Gods will be amazing too, Lokis kids Jörmungandr, Fenrir and Hel are frequently shown in each episode...the show views thee abduction of fenrir because of the prophecy
Yeah, the ironic part is that a decent chunk forget that the Aesir were kinda pricks in the Eddas. And even when it comes to Ragnarok, they were far from victims seeing how they kinda directly caused the situations leading to Loki's children taking the roles that they had in Ragnarok by way of: -Throwing Jormangondr off of Yggdrasil resulting in his size -putting Hel in charge of Helheim (although from what I heard she might not have been that bad a ruler if not for how the Norse viewed things). -misleading, binding and betraying Fenrir -Sleipnir being ridden by his uncle into battle (Odin and Loki were "blood brothers" in the Eddas). The beat treated out of all of them was essentially Odin's warhorse.
@@princecharmling14 it was but the writing and pacing needs improving. I mean I one season they managed to kill a god, in three seasons aang defeated the fire Lord. It needed like 2 seasons at the least!
For those who are "new" to Myths. The Prose Edda is for your Logical Brain. The Poetic Edda is for your Intuitive Brain. They _intentionally_ conflict and have contradictions between the two. Are you the one who can understand why? It is directly related to the Why of Loki. (It is by design)
I thought the Thumbnail for this video had an image of someone from a sketch comedy show you’d love- “Horrible Histories: Stupid Deaths”, highly recommend for humor!
Hey Jon, there’s also a few other works that tell us quite a bit about the Norse from a man named Saxo Grammaticus. He has a series of books about danish/Scandinavian culture
7:21 birds do in fact, have saliva. Otherwise we wouldn't have birds nest soup in the real world, which is made using the dried saliva nests of swiftlets.
I love how the Asa seemed like they at least had something resembling a plan with Fenrir and Hel, and then when they get to jormungandr they’re just kinda like “fuck it, throw him in the ocean, I can’t see this becoming a problem later.”
Honestly in Norse Mythology it seems Hel is a better place to go than Valhalla. I only say that because you would have to out of your mind to want to fight for a piece of 💩like Odin. Your literally only up there to serve his call.
32:55 So are we meant to believe that when his foot broke through the bottom of the boat his leg extended thousands of meters down to the bottom of the ocean
My favorite child of Loki is Feneri. I am a big wolf lover. I think he got a very raw deal. If he had been raised with love and care, he could have been a strong ally.
I’m still confused, though. I know now that Loki’s Aesir sons Narfi and Vali were truly malevolent when the end of the world came to pass but which of his children are worse off than the others or had it worse? He had seven I think. Hel got the long end of the stick in my opinion: Odin gave her dominion of the underworld and she wasn’t too mad about that, one might even say she fit the role perfectly and was fine with it. Fenrir was tied to a tree until Ragnarok and really tore it up when Ragnarok came. Loki gave birth to an eight-legged horse named Sleipnir while in mare form. Loki didn’t want anything to do with Sleipnir and he became Orin’s favorite steed, having Odin ride him all over the cosmos. I think Sleipnir got the short end of the stick to be frank
ooof slightly rough watch for people that know a lot about actual norse myth... but decent for new to the myth i suppose. also, we technically dont know if ragnarok will happen, or HAS happened.
Was that…? Did you really just drop Bob the Fricken Builder into your Norse Mythology video? 🤣 Idk, dude, I always thought of Bob as more of a Hephaestus type. Not enough beard for a Norseman.
The channel "Norse Magic and Beliefs"(I think he's a pagan, too) gave a story in one of his hour long videos just in the middle of it, and he reluctantly told about a story of a norse village since he was talking about the village anyway. There was a nearby Christian village and they were having a spat about the highest God and they wanted to run a trial. They would each put a statue of their God on each of opposing hills, and would give it a week. So odin statue vs Jesus staue. Over the weekend the odin statue was pushed over and the head fell off, Jesus statue wad still standing and the norse just grumbled about it. Even the channel "Norse Magic and Beliefs" lol cope harder
Poor Fenrir. Nope sorry they caused what they got so yes I feel bad for that poor baby. And nope would not be able to kill that kissy face. if anything I would be after Odin cause I doubt they hurt him like that without Odin's permission. Slepinir is one I would want to bring home as well. [Crazy animal lover here people lol]

That's so stupid
YT is getting out of control!!

It's like UA-cam itself doesn't want to make money.
If you had waited a bit, you could have included Netflix' new animated series 'Twilight of the Gods'. I can highly recommend it.
I would have taken that recommendation...if it wasn't with Netflix
I'll check that out regardless!
I hope he makes a video on it.

I thought the name of the horse was familiar. Failure Frame's mc named his horse Slei, after Sleipnir
My cat is named Jūrmangandr. He's black and white and 3.5 feet long from nose to butt. He weighs 35 pounds.
Nari and Narfi are two names for the same guy, both are given because it's unclear which was correct. The brother's name was Vali.
This is correct, thank you
You should read Ragnarok by A.S. Byatt. The chapter about Jörmungandr is especially beautiful.
Fenrir was probably just a super cute puppy
What a coincidence, this video just came here after watching Twilight of the Gods.
IT WAS SO GOOD
@@princecharmling14 I hope it gets green lit for a second season
He is gonna review if not at least mention in he loves that new stuff

Same!!!! Literaly an hour after i watched the show😅
For those who are "new" to Myths.

Why did they let Frenrer? Because he was a good puppy. It's not his fault he grew so big and they became afraid of him
Like Clifford the Big Red Dog moving to the island.😁🐾🐾
well the thing is he was always destined to be a threat to them...
I thought the Thumbnail for this video had an image of someone from a sketch comedy show you’d love- “Horrible Histories: Stupid Deaths”, highly recommend for humor!
Jörmungandr wasn't in the movie because the comics Odin found a way to prevent Ragnarök by having Thor kill him.
Sleipnir is a she, not a he; a MARE, not a stallion. One of Loki's epithets is " _Mare's-mother_ ".
The horse, of course the horse, even though it had a crazy amount of legs. Wonder if it was just a failed twin thing...
Can you do a messed up orgins on bedknobs and broomsticks please
Like Odin, I'm High, Just-As-High and the Third Highest. I think that's what you just said.
@6:07 ever notice the most surefire way to make sure a prophecy come true is to do everything possible to avoid it?
4 hoarse of the apocalypse next please!!!
Hey Jon, there’s also a few other works that tell us quite a bit about the Norse from a man named Saxo Grammaticus. He has a series of books about danish/Scandinavian culture
Tom Hiddleston need to come to Rhode Island comic con this year.
This is loki cool af
7:21 birds do in fact, have saliva. Otherwise we wouldn't have birds nest soup in the real world, which is made using the dried saliva nests of swiftlets.
so Odin's steed is the result of a reluctant affair with the builder's horse...better or worse than what they did in AC Valhalla?
I love how the Asa seemed like they at least had something resembling a plan with Fenrir and Hel, and then when they get to jormungandr they’re just kinda like “fuck it, throw him in the ocean, I can’t see this becoming a problem later.”
Here I thought I just watched this
Glad to see you’re feeling well
I like Hels designs in Twilight of gods she looks like the grimm reaper.
Odin feeds his wolves meat and lives on only wine. Most writers feed their cats meant and live on only coffee or tea. Coincidence? I don't think so.
Honestly in Norse Mythology it seems Hel is a better place to go than Valhalla. I only say that because you would have to out of your mind to want to fight for a piece of 💩like Odin. Your literally only up there to serve his call.
Lmao i literally watched this like 2 hours ago before the reupload 😂
Great episode, love the longer videos.
32:55 So are we meant to believe that when his foot broke through the bottom of the boat his leg extended thousands of meters down to the bottom of the ocean
I agree. Wolf puppies are very VERY cute
It’s always sunny, favorite show.
I was watching the new show Twilight of gods
Yormungandr is my fav
My favorite child of Loki is Feneri. I am a big wolf lover. I think he got a very raw deal. If he had been raised with love and care, he could have been a strong ally.
You totally missed the chance for an AC/DC reference with the "Highway to Hel"
He created a horse, a serpent, a wolf and a woman. What a terrible collection.
well Loki is a terrible individual...
Nice
God genetics are weird
Someone needs to create a mythologically accurate MCU.
Fenrir is the name of my cat.... super soft and sweet void
Narfi may have been the progenitor of the Aptrganga - the undead. His name translates to 'Corpse god'.(Just my opinion)
I’m still confused, though. Is this a reupload? I swear I watched this a few weeks ago (edit: okay I read the description it is a reupload lol, stupid YT)
who is your favorite marvel superhero
How about trying to look at Brazilian wolves.
Can you do Wind in the Willows/Willows in Winter?
Fenrir my favorite, I love wolves
If the world supposedly comes to an end and Asgard is destroyed. Will hell still be there? Will they all be there? I wonder?
Bird saliva is real lol they literally make soup out of it
Can you do a messed up origin of jim hensen's the labyrinth please 🥺
Your videos are fantastic! I have learned more about things I knew a little about... Now Get To The Bhavagad Gita! And other Hindu mythology
I love the Rökkr

i’m like 90% sure i watched this video already
I was wondering if this was released because of the One Piece Elbaf arc is going on right now.
Loki❤❤❤❤❤😊😈😊
Is this a re-upload? I'm having serious dejavu about the intro.
Hel resides in Helheim.
Thanks Jon 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂

It was unfair to blame the children for the sins of the father.
I've definitely met women with beards.
