i would really love to have a source for this! I'm a huge greek myth nerd and this is the first I've heard of this! Please I want to read more (especially since I thought a major part of greek religious practice was centered around not letting the hearth go out except when a family member passed away. The hearth extinguishing was considered a bad omen from what I've read)

Ganymede and Ariadne were given immortality but do not have domains. This episode I focused on gods who were worshipped with temples, sacrifices, and the like. Seems like a lot of people are upset I didn't mention them though so I'm happy to do a sequel!

4:35 That isn't the myth I heard! In the version I know the interruption didn't kill the child; the terrified mother snatched the baby alive from the flames. At this point, Demeter threw off her disguise and showed herself to the mortal woman. The furious goddess then scolded Metaneira, stating that the child was this close to becoming an immortal god but the mother's foolish interference ruined it forever. Still, Demophon had absorbed enough power from the divine flames so that he managed to achieve the powers of a demi-god if not full godhood.

Then you got Dionysus, who was born a demi-god, but just gets to be a full god right from the get go, AFAIK.
Always found it weird how Hercules was descended from Zeus, on both sides of his family.

Didn't they say King Solomon became a god in Jewish lore? Also you can say Liu Kang, Kratos and others in mortal kombat and video games became gods/titans

This sounds a lot like a story in the book the tangled wood tales. She was taken in for a time by a royal family while she looked for her daughter. She put the baby in the fire. Mom pulled him out. She told mom what she was doing but because mom interfered babe would never know immortality and she leaves . Mom spends the rest of the babes child hood sticking him in the fire

Me in my mind: wow Zeus having at least a sliver of regret
“ reveals he hopes to hook up with her again
    Me : never mind

Heracles might be the most popular yet he lost to Dionysus in becoming an Olympian

Poor Io. First she gets violated then she gets turned into a cow, forced to constantly travel around, tortured and then find out she is pregnant from the encounter.

I like the idea that gods only have power over their domains and all religions exist simultaneously. Call me controversial but as an agnostic I personally am always theorizing about religions.
