  • Welcome back everyone! Its time for another build tutorial.
    In this two part episode series We take a brand new 1/10 scale Hyperdrive Spec 7 Pan car kit and turn it into a race ready car (or should I say Truck).
    If you've never built a pan car kit before or if you purchased a used car from someone and want to know how to go through it; this video would be of great help in those areas from building a new kit, refreshing an old kit, doing maintenance on an existing kit and more.
    We go over some critical areas common to pan cars that require more than just simply bolting it together. Some areas require a little extra effort and "fitting".
    If you combine this two part episode series with my Pan Car Basic Setup & Tuning guide video you will have a much greater understanding of how these pan cars work and will be able to hit the race track already heading in the right direction with confidence.
    You can see the link for episode II of this build as well as the Pan car Basic Setup & Tuning guide below.
    Thank you for all the support and I hope this video series is able to help someone out there.

    Like your videos on build and setup guide. I used to custom build race cars (chase, suspension, body's) and for house car did all the set up work, and set up changes at races. Always shared my info with others who purchased my cars, or anyone at the track that needed help with there car (the faster I made my competitor's cars the more I hade to work and learn to make my cars faster to regain the edge on them). So its nice to see some willing to share info, and your info is spot on. I use to race pan carpet oval cars as well (Bolink LTO, T plate mono ball, with a few custom front end changes) (still have) and was one of the drivers looked at to beat in the state of Oregon. All oval tracks shut down in area many years ago so I haven't been current with it. Recently one off the hobby shops has put in a carpet oval (small 100 feet long buy 35 feet wide) and it has sparked my interest in getting a new modern 1/10 scale pan oval car. Since you are up to date and current with the sport I have a couple questions. 1. I am aware off a few cars Hyperdrive HD7 and HD7 spec. (HD7 is more expensive comes with aluminum caster blocks, and liter weight hubs). CRC Battle Axe 3. , Mcpappy Racing Dart 2.5 Team Kit and there McDominator (out of stock). Is there any other manufactures who make on road-carpet oval pan cars? 2. I know you prefer the Hyperdrive cars, but what is you opinion on the other cars, and what do you prefer the hyperdrive over them. 3. Speed controllers. Who do you fill makes the best. would be stock class , but would like the ability to run mode class, open motor (not sure if rules allow 3 cell or just 2 cell). What would be your suggestion on the best speed controller that can be used for both classes, and motor preferences. I hope this is not asking to much, but know one around here is up to date on pan cars and equipment to go fast. I like to have the best equipment, because I don't like being beat from pore equipment that may not perform as good. One more note At first it won't be to tough (well yes it will its a small track so driving will need to be premium), as there are very few off use that will have pan oval cars, (most people are running gear box cars, slash lowered and associated car) hoping it will spark others to buy and expand the pan cars. If we get enough people with them the hobby shop owner has told me he would be willing to convert the road course to a dual purpose track, giving use a much larger track (300 feet long 70 feet wide), and now premium equipment will have a lot more help in being fastest. Thank You for your time and good racing to you.

      Bascubadiver I greatly appreciate the support and kind words. I created this channel to help and entertain. The info for new racers is out there but can be hard to come by. So I try to give a place for people find it in one area. I have plans for many more setup guides, tips and tricks and such for the future of the channel as well. You Asked some great questions and I'll answer them the best that I can. 1) The HyperDrive 7 and 8 seem to be very popular especially on carpet. I notice those guys tend to tune and use a lot more of the brass weights those cars come with. On the paved oval side while we do use it occasionally its nowhere near as much since we run on a banked track. The Spec 7 is all carbon, no brass weights and what I currently run. Great car, but for carpet, I'd look at the 7 or 8 version with the extra brass weights and such. 2) You are correct, I do really love and prefer the Hyperdrive cars. Thats because I've mainly ran those cars over the years and happen to personally know a few of the people directly involved with the company and help develop the cars. However, with that said, I really always liked the KSG cars as well. I havent ran one in years, but liked them when I did in the past. Mcpappy is another brand that I'm somewhat familiar with. I've never ran one, but have a couple of friends that have and really enjoy them. Seem to be good options as well. As far as the others, I have no personal opinion on because I have not used them or been around them. 3) Speed Controls: Most of the classes around here we run blinky/no timing and some class rules specify the HobbyWing Justock ESC for this purpose. The Teken RS series ESC's are still very popular and depending on the class can be a helpful option as well. They offer a few different versions of this. Tekin is the better ESC and has been proven in racing for years. But its not necessary for many of our classes. But if you are not bound to specifics. I recommend Tekin all day long. I'm happy to hear you have a track opening near you again so you can once again enjoy RC pan car racing! I hope this information was helpful and I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a blast getting back into it! Best of luck and maybe we will meet at a track one day.

    Will Calandra Racing Concepts Battle Ax 3.0 screws fit a Hyperdrive HD Spec 7?

      David Fisher Jr that's a good question and I'm honestly not sure. I've never tried. I purchased a Hyper drive screw kit from Mudslide Motorsports website in the past but I've always stick with the brand specific screw kits.

      Ben, I've been a fan of Hyperdrive a long time. That's my biggest reason to be honest. I ran an older GForce, ran different KSG's and Hyperdrives. I just always preferred the Hyperdrive. The other cars were fine, just a personal preference and the fact that Hyperdrive support is near to me through hobby stores, racers and anytime I called them which wasn't often I had what I needed within a couple days. I now own and still run a Hyperdrive Pro-4 and Pro-8.

      @@jbtricklerc why is it pancars are 1s instead of 2s?

    • @jbtricklerc
      @jbtricklerc  2 роки тому

      @@benmaxson1983 great question and it really depends on where you race and what classes. All my Pan cars I race are still 2S classes. In the carpet pan car world the 1S classes are plentiful and probably on a larger scale vs 2S these days for sure. But as too why, probably weight and Lower center Gravity and smaller to allow more battery placement tuning among other things as well.

      Tracy G, I order mine from Muddslide Motorsports or Lefthander RC's websites. Just fyi, jeep an eye on the descriptions as they offer them with 0 up to I believe 5 degrees of castor. I order zero the adjust with shims.

    Is it difficult to get your battery in the same exact place on the 7 spec chassis if swapping batteries?

    • @jbtricklerc
      @jbtricklerc  2 роки тому +1

      Kentucky I don't think it is. I usually mark the chassis where I like the battery. That way if/when I change it it goes back to the same spot. I use the tape slots and line the side of the battery there and mark where I want the front to be. This also help when/if changing battery location if sliding it forward bit backward slightly.

      @@Kentucky-bz6pg no problem at all. I'm happy to help. Once you find your preferred battery placement. I usually etch a marking line lightly with a xacto knife. I've done silver sharpies in the past but it just gets rubbed off over time. Just don't go deep.
