  • It never fails that each time we post a video about tiny house living that someone will want to know more about the home, features, location and other things. One of the biggest questions and concerns of potential tiny home buyers is "where do I put it?" or "do they have a place for me to put it?"
    Today, the answer is a resounding "YES!" Join us as we tour two models from River Ridge Escape Tiny Homes and Communities. These folks primarily develop tiny home communities and sell tiny houses. Therefore you can find one stop shopping here. They are located in Menlo, GA and have several communities in Northwest GA and Northeast AL. Their communities are all around Lookout Mountain, about an hour from Chatanooga, TN. Depending upon the community you choose, you can purchase your land or rent.

    When we were building our house we decided that our kitchen sinks wouldn’t be split. When scrubbing a pot or a pan you can get more leverage if the pan is flat rather than at an angle and since I do the majority of cleaning the kitchen, then it’s easier for me to have a flat surface to clean it.

    They designed this very well. I love the bed room where you can stand up. Oh that is a great idea. Make that your living room upstairs and put the mattress under. That way you would not have to worry about falling down stairs at night. Also put totes in there for food and clothing storage

    On the 2nd design 9x Did y'all not get the reverse loft idea for the small areas? The under loft is the sleeping area in those. Lol

    • @50pluslife360
      @50pluslife360  Рік тому

      Yes we understood, but the floorplan posted on the door seemed to suggest the opposite of the inverted loft concept. So we sounded a little confounded.

    Only thing as we age, stairs are hard! I need one level, like many elderly!

    As a single women working from home, the ridge is pretty and I love a nice porch, but I would do 2 or three ft. less porch. I'd also eliminate the step and the loft in favor of built-in storage. I love the efficiency of the reverse loft!!! I'd do a furniture Murphy bed living room, perhaps a single bed below and storage below and a drop down table. Very cute and efficient.Thank you.

    They could have easily made those stairs more normal in the Ridge model by puttng the door between the two windows, the window by the stairs would need to be smaller but you'd still have abundant light and navigable stairs to the extra loft space, plus more and varied storage area under the stairs.
    In the second one, you cannot put flammable materials in the closet with that water heater, that's against safety code.

    After you showed the 'per square foot' price comparison between the more inexpensive single wide vs park models in Ocala, FL, I'm now looking at the park models with less enthusiasm. I guess it all comes down to where a person plans to park them. I'm enjoying y'alls journey!!

    Definitely would use the underloft as sleeping area, leaving more open loft as living area.

    Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls, BEAUTIFUL area! This first home is really nice. I would want a more natural look on the inside for sure. On that smaller one, I agree use the under storage place for sleeping and the upper for living. Now, getting a mattress under there may be interesting!

    That 1st one had some problems. The fridge was a weird placement with the door handle right up on the cabinet. The bedroom is a big problem. People have clothes ! Where did they expect anyone to put their clothing? Now I get living tiny ( I know I have a 400 sq foot place) you have to have less but there was no room for more than 2 shirts and 2 pants..no where for under garments, coats sweaters, shoes etc..to me it looks like they wasted a lot of space in the kitchen. That could have been done so you had more room in the bedroom for a closet and more room for the living room. The only thing I liked was the big porch. The bathroom was actually larger than most tiny home bathrooms. They could have made it a bit smaller so the bedroom had a tiny bit more storage space. I think a lot of builders jumped on the tiny home band wagon but didnt really put much thought into how people live and how storage is really important in a tiny home.

    • @50pluslife360
      @50pluslife360  Рік тому

      Agreed. However these are park model RVs so the true intention is not permanent residence but destination living for vacations, lake homes, mountain cabins etc. so they tend to have less storage.

    For the life of me I don’t know why everyone flocks to Gloomy Grey or Death Black colors.
    I’m a retired Mental Health Professional.
    It’s a proven fact that when there’s civil unrest, unstable economies, wars and rumors of war people desire Dark, gloomy, depressing, drab, boring, outdated, death, coffin Grey or Black vehicles, homes, interior motif colors. But when there’s civil rest, the world as a whole is peaceful and our economy is stable, then people run to bright, cheerful, outgoing, welcoming colors.
    Since 1990 automobile manufacturers have forced gloomy grey or Boring black interior colors down everyone’s throats.
    We see the glass half full, rather than half empty.
    Our 11 Ford Ranger had gloomy grey and boring black interior colors, so I had it reupholstered in Red with black trim and stitching to compliment the custom 2 tone paint, (factory Silver over Red metallic). It’s also pinstriped in red.
    I’ve had SEVERAL people complement my pickup with the custom 2 tone paint and upholstery.
    This past summer I had 2 different people wanting to buy our almost 13 year old pickup. 1 offered $25K and the other man offered $28K. It has only 36K original miles and looks showroom new.
    Before adding the K&N intake and a 3” FlowMaster exhaust system I was getting 19mpg on the freeway with the cruise set on 75mph. I now get 23mpg.
    Ive also added custom wheels, running boards, rear air shocks, LineX spray in bed liner, tonneau cover, window vents and a dashboard cover.
    It’s a 4WD with limited slip rear differential and tow pkg.
    Not only can it haul more in the bed with the air shocks, but with the added intake and exhaust, it hauls ass.

    I love the porch on the first house. I would fix it to be where I was more than inside if I lived I. The right area. I didn’t care much for the second one. To old for the under bed area, but the top would have to be the living area for me.

    • @Bess9779

    I appreciate your videos you guys are funny but I personally did not like any of these model’s incredible tiny homes makes better homes and yes they ask for key money but that money is used to do the infrastructure to the property and development of the land put in roads and sewer system and water system and electrical systems so the key money is to get all the lots structures ready to be permanently stable and durable and strong enough to build to last if a person is going to pay for that on a property of their choice they will pay 💰 a lot to do those things and the upgrades and upkeep on them all at incredible tiny homes communities that is all taken care of for you guys all you have to do ther is maintain your own personal home and the small yard around it with a weed eater or lawn mower and I even heard say they even have residents who share their own equipment with others in their own community so I understand the key money and what they use it for it takes money to make money and development of the property and the legal red tape with county permits and building codes ect 😊😊

      ITH is fine for those who desire that lifestyle. Key money or development money is understandable to us if you are purchasing the land; otherwise why would I pay development costs for a developer who is going to rent the lot to me long term? He could simply build the cost into the monthly rental if he does not have cash flow issues with his business.
