      Great titles! The Tripods and Survivors (both the 1975 and 2008 versions) are classics that portray post-apocalyptic themes really well. The Last Train and Threads are also very powerful productions that deeply explore human behavior in the face of disaster. It’s interesting how different approaches to the same themes impact the viewer. Which of these films or series is your favorite?

    NO BLADE OF GRASS (1970). A worldwide infection has killed plant-life (which had fed animals for eons so they too are doomed). A family in London tries to flee the murderous city and head north to a relative's farm where they hope to begin again. Almost every one of these is a zombie type movie. I hate zombie type movies. The only movie on this list that was the least bit interesting was the reboot of Day of the Triffids. For the record, over my 6½ decades of life, I have seen a few zombie type movies, which is why I hate them. 😂 And yes, I have seen Night of the Living Dead. I don't find watching grotesque looking and grotesque acting people eating each other the least bit entertaining. You want gross, I'll give you gross. At one place we lived, a toad lived somewhere on our property. Our rottie mix caught it several times but spit it out each time because the poison from the toad's poison glands tasted terrible. It is also strong enough to kill some small dogs and cats, as well as some other animals. It usually won't kill mid - to large sized dogs as long as they don't actually eat the toad. However, it leaves a very bad taste in the mouth and causes frothing of the mouth, along with an upset stomach. Watching a dog go all frothy mouthed from trying to eat a toad is pretty gross. Fortunately, I had a supply of store brand chewable peppermint antacids. Every time the dog had a run-in with the toad, I gave her a couple of those to ease the symptoms. Unfortunately, nothing could cure her of trying to catch the toad every time she saw it. 😂

    • @bestmovies-wg1rq
      @bestmovies-wg1rq  3 дні тому

      That is such an entertaining and vivid story-thank you for sharing it! 😂 Honestly, your dog-versus-toad saga sounds way more compelling (and gross!) than a lot of zombie movies out there. I can totally understand why you’d dislike the genre after seeing enough of those grotesque, repetitive tropes over the years. Watching people eat each other isn’t for everyone!
      As for Day of the Triffids, it’s a refreshing choice! It’s sci-fi horror with a much more unique twist, and those walking plants are way creepier than they have any right to be. What did you like most about the reboot? It’s always great to hear about non-zombie apocalyptic stories that bring something different to the table.
      And about your rottie mix-she must have had a strong spirit (and a short memory!) to keep going after that toad! 😂 The frothing and your antacid remedy are both gross and hilarious at the same time. I think you could write a better post-apocalyptic movie based on your dog’s battle with the poison toad than half the stuff Hollywood churns out these days. I’d watch it! 😉
