Like the video, short, but shows exactly what we need to know. I use cinestyle all the time now on my 90d, however I need to practice more with colour editing. Thanks for sharing...new sub here from UK.
How do you like cinestyle when shooting at an ISO higher than say 500? I found my footage to be super noisey. Do you experience that same issue at all? Thanks for the sub! 🙌🏼
Great review! Best one on this subject, with this camera. When it came to exposing with these flatter profiles, using the histogram, did you mainly overexpose or keep things in the middle? Thanks
Thanks Andy! So for this video I purposefully didn't over exposure when using the flatter profile. I recently picked up the EOS R, and i've found the slightly over exposing the C-Log profile works best, I wonder now if the same should be done for the 90D when shooting flat? I'm gonna do a comparison between the 90D(Cinestyle) and the EOS R (C-Log) this week.
This is probably a silly question: does Cinestyle make sense if you have no way to color grade at the moment? (don't think iMovie has this feature) Thanks.
There's no silly questions here 🙂 Absolutely it makes sense to use Cinestyle even if you're editing in imovie. imovie has basic color correction controls including a multislider control, a Saturation slider, and a Color Temperature slider. That's perfect for grading a Cinestyle profile! How that helps!
Thanks for the vid. What were your settings with the Canon Standard profile? The defaults are certainly not good, but I've had much better results with lowered sharpening, contrast and saturation.
How do you download and install to canon 90d? I’m struggling to do so. Please help I’ve reached out to many UA-camrs and nobody had been able to help me
Hey Anthony! You need to download the Canon Utility app for your computer. Once you have that, plug your camera into your computer. Go to the technical website and download Cinestyle. In your utility app, find profiles and assign Cinestyle to an empty user profile. Hope that helps, good luck!
btw no reason to match Ungraded Cinestyle right after Standard, and than show graded. cos probably nobody care about comparison Standard vs Ungraded) the main result is Standard vs Graded. so you need to put them near, Cos when Ungraded part is in a middle, you cant see exactly difference vs Standard and Graded Cine. Isnt it too simple to understand.... but every guy on youtube do this no reason Ungraded in between....
It's alright. It's a video I made 3 years ago that I literally don't think about anymore. When you make your video about it, I'm sure it will be amazing and help a lot of people..
i love the straight to the point no nonsense video thanks 👍
James you damn genius that intro is the most cinematic thing to ever hit my retinas this day week month YEAR?!
How do you know when to cut?!
Haha thanks Romain!! I think the LUT saved my ass 😅🙌🏼

@@JamesDel yes, a little, however I try to keep ISO low, normally 100.
can you please compare it with xt3 and a73??????
Was looking for a comparison.
Thanks for this.

@@JamesDel Awesome!!! Thank you so very much. I’ll definitely use it then.

I just used factory settings on Standard. What's the difference between lowering the standard settings and say using the neutral profile ?
Great comparisons ❤
I just put Cinestyle on my 90D last week. Now I just need to learn to color grade better with my Corel Video Studio.
I recently invested in filmconvert and i'm blown away the results and how easy it is to grade!
@@JamesDel How expensive is it? I need it for videos not stills. I figure I can shoot Raw for stills.
@@SchardtCinematic It's for video and it cost me $150 or so last week. So worth it too!
@@JamesDel I will have to googl it and check it out.
@schardt check out HitFilm Express
Hey love the video man, but did you put the rec.709 too before do a grading?
Hey thanks Alung! I didn't convert it to Rec.709 here, it's been so long and my work flow has changed a lot since I made this video.

James Del hey!! I went to the canon site, but there’s no utility for canon 90d, only canon 80d !! Did you used that one ??
@@carlosbarrientos9932 Yes, that will work!
Nice vid and Cool 80' music. Cheers from Chile.
Awesome omparison video. You've earned a 👍🏾
Is there a lut?
I used a Lut only on the intro sequence.
How did you color grade.
In this video? Just slapped a LUT on there and tweaked t a little, nothing crazy.
@@JamesDel groundcontrol cinestyle to rec709 LUT?
Top Job! Some nice tips!
It’s great! Thanx! :)
Hey bro i am from india love your videos
I used the same body canon 90d
Can please tell how to put cinestyle in canon 90d
Please tell
Kit lens ke sath quality kaisi hi 90d ki 18 135
www.technicolor.com/cinestyle
Chk @44frames...all shot using CineStyle
The Colours of cinestyle looks not so good. And the Colours on regular Canon-Profiles DLSR are the best for me. It better contrast set to-2,-3 or -4.
Do you mean after your adjust the colors for Cinestyle in post they're still not so good?
You need to edit colors in post
Awesome. What lens did you shoot with? Did you use any ND filters?
Tokina 11-16 f2.8 and yes, I used an ND filter :)
