I really like that outside they have influences that make them nicer, in their own real they only have each other to influence one-another plus the darkness of the realm
It is explained Physical Darkness(The Heartless) are what happened with the Ancient Darkness becomes the most virus like. When they physically Attack Hearts instead of Bodies.
The whole realm of darkness segment in BBS was so cool because it really brought back that intimidating feeling the heartless had back in KH1, this boss really sealed that feeling. Much as I love KH2 they did nerf heartless to hype up nobodies so I was glad this game made them a real threat again if you stuck with it and got the true ending.
I think in 1 it was more that Sora was a kid who only just got the Keyblade, in 2 he was much better at fighting them, but in their own Realm Heartless are nothing to sneeze at, you'd need to be a Keyblade Master to have a chance beyond one encounter.
That’s what I liked about 2.8 and 3. It made the heartless feel like a genuine threat again. I had the same feeling I felt back in kh1 when the heartless appeared on the island in the middle of the night.
@@rosariocrimson Even then KH3 shows us that being a Keyblade Master may not be enough as a single Demon Tower is able to not only damage Mickey's Kingdom Key D, the keyblade that was BORN in the realm of darkness, but also cut Riku's Way to the Dawn, CLEAN IN HALF. And Riku at that time had developed a resistance to darkness as stated by DDD, and reminder for 2 YEARS OR SO AQUA HAD TO SURVIVE WITH NO KEYBLADE.

The fact that this is "technically" a full-power Heartless is honestly terrifying. These guys are for the most part so goofy and funny when they go around stealing hearts that people tend to forget they are *pure Darkness.* KH2 made them a joke compared to the Nobodies, which was the point of the game, while BBS focused on the Unversed. But this... THIS is when the series brought back that genuine fear of the dark.
You know, the Heartless were never really scary enemies. Most of them look kinda doofy and cutesy, with a few exceptions(Dark Ball, Neo Shadow etc.). ...But holy shit. Just about everything in this fight is terrifying. Especially the eyes. And even after it's unveiled, it has that gross, fleshy texture to it. Ugh.
All previous heartless in the series (aside from shadows and neoshadows) have been "artificial" emblem heartless, which are based off of each world they come from, so they are a lot goofier. This is what a pureblood is like.
On top of everything everyone else has said here, think of it this way, this is probably the first large pureblood heartless Aqua has ever seen Sora has seen these sorts things a handful of times, so therefore Aqua's encounter here with this one is more intense than most of Sora's
Those same exceptions are pureblood heartless the cutesy or goofy ones are emblems artificial made heartless the house a person heart they look goofy and cute because they where once humans so their previous desires or emotions might influence theur appearance plus the world they live in
This boss imo is Aqua’s true final boss (I don’t really count Terranort or Ventus-Vanitas, since those two are originally Terra’s and Ventus’s final bosses.)
What I really missed in KH was how it feels like Darkness itself was the main antagonist. Like when Ansem SoD said that the Heartless was just using Malefacent, but clearly he gone mad with darkness like a pawn (before they continued forward with the character) and that after his defeat, the heartless are still there.
Well, the Master of Masters himself wanted to leave reality to escape Darkness. The Darkness did destroy the world 3 times, & it is practically everywhere. It is definitely the overarching antagonist
Research has shown that the Dark Hide, and Dark Thorn of Beast's Castle, are actually descended from a common ancestor: the Darkside. Some tribes of Thorn use Hides as mounts when they hunt in the dark world.
Lucas Medina i mean it depends there's 2 types of heartless: The pureblood heartless: that dont Release hearts when defeated and the normal Heartless: that releases hearts when defeated in the realm of darkness, you find only pureblood heartless
Lucas Medina nope before getting to Red Eyes, Aqua has fought tons of pureblood Heartless there's a stage before This boss that Aqua fights through a hole swarm of them
Sora has fought stronger Heartless than this. Aqua claimed these "creatures of darkness" were pretty tough but to Sora it's pretty much a Tuesday afternoon.
Gamer BTips She's also not as used to fighting Heartless at this point. Until now her main foes have been Unversed, now she's up against a whole new kind if enemy.
Man i haven't played BBS yet and i feel like i just spoiled something that would've been awesome to encounter unintentionally if i ever did get this game Oh well, i guess i got some epic music to listen to Anywho Imagine being in the realm of darkness and encountering this thing as someone who isn't a powerful keyblade wielding protagonist This would probably be downright terrifying to encounter
Nope, still haven't, i don't have a copy of the game nor a console to play it on unfortunately I think my interest in playing it faded out, but i still think this game's cool
AdamRonaldo1903 Gameplay wise from the boss’s perspective? Hell yes, Dark Infernal attacks are too repetitive for life and are so boring compared to Dark Hide, Dark Hide has so many variety of attacks and they develop the more his HP decreases, while Dark Infernal simply become faster with the same movesets. Dark Hide is so much better
In all complete honesty, this boss theme should've been saved for something much more disturbing like a Heartless that hunts other Heartless that has no actual physical form under it's black smokey shadowy red eyed appearance. A creature that all lifeforms fear to encounter due to the fact that it can't be killed. The only beings that could even remotely stand up to it would be The Keyblade Wielders.
The way you describe it is literally what the Darknesses from Union X are. Formless, feared, indestructible and shadow-smokey. And not even keyblade wielders manage to completely remove them.
Yknow this guy looks lile he may very well be the final form of the kh 2 Boss in beasts castle. Red wild hair animalistic hella fast camouflage blue body etc. Hell it even still has the chains
I always thought of it as a quadrupedal brother to the Dark Thorn but now that you mention it, it does have strikingly similar features And i remember looking at the chains specifically and wondering why they were there on the Dark Hide Guess this idea slipped right under my nose
Aatale15 You have to have design consistency. All heartless share at least some basic similarities in design, and it makes sense. It ruins that consistency if we have a completely unique being. This comes from the Realm of Darkness, so it'll resemble other dark dwellers like Behemoth, Dark Thorn, etc
@@Flamelance_Accendo Yeah, it and Dark Thorn have some pretty unique spatial/reality bending abilities that make them come off extremely intimidating. The subtext behind the heartless is that it hunts other heartless in order to feed it's own darkness (hence why it's hidden and looking at a specific area, as if waiting to catch more prey), not unlike how most heartless seek to devour the hearts of people and worlds in order to do the same thing. This particular heartless I'd say outclasses the Demon Tower by a pretty wide Margin, but the Demon *Tide* from 0.2 might give it some legitimate trouble (especially since they have the potential to get overwhelmingly large if they have enough smaller heartless to absorb as we see in KH3).
@@sagaplayzgames And the easiest way to do so, is clear all story arcs in Critical Mode. Clearing all 3 arcs on lower difficulty levels would also have some additional requirements.
The fact that this is what a Heartless can be when completely uninfluenced by the outside world... genuinely horrifying.
