I think it's fascinating some of the things you see, like the warping of the subframe being demonstrated, or how that component behaves in a crash test. While crumple zones are a thing, It's almost like it serves as a pivot point in that collision and almost deflects the passenger compartment to the side of the collision, rather than keeping the body aligned with it. It's interesting to think how many components are designed with multiple purposes (other than what they were mainly designed for) for a vehicle, and how difficult it must be to design those abilities in. Or to array them in such a way that they serve an alternative purpose outside of expected application. I'm an amateur mechanic so I think it's just plain neat the things I've been learning about our 3 Toyotas for example, a 1993 T100, a 2004 Corolla, and a 2007 FJ Cruiser, and seeing changes from decade-to-decade as well as different structure types like body-on-frame vs unibody, and how differently they were put together as the decades progressed. The other neat things were physically checking up on the behavior of the suspension and the tires, and especially the testing of the ergonomics of the cabin; seeing how reaching for different regions of the dash and center console seemed to work out and whether or not they would need adjustment prior to fabrication. I had to brake hard because I was going a bit too fast. After braking, the car jolted slightly, though initially, I thought it was just in my head.
Suddenly, there was a knock on my car window. A gentleman asked if I was alright. I assured him that I was fine and inquired about the reason for his concern. He then informed me that he had collided with my car.
Upon inspection, I noticed that his brand-new Mitsubishi Lancer, purchased just a few months prior, was completely wrecked, whereas my W140 rear bumper only had a few scratches.
It was truly remarkable...
Is this a mockery of the comment that was earlier posted or is this a post based on an actual real experience?
I wouldn't embarrass myself by lying on an International platform.
That car weigh 2.5 tons.
@@ShariaLawAllDay why would he do something like that?
@@AevriosTheQuetzalcoatlus I asked this question because if you notice the other comments in the video lots of other people posted similar stories and some of them seemed quite exaggerated to the point of mockery, making fun of how invincible this car is.
Шедевр👍 мировой👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I felt jealous of the engineers working on this piece of art.
My dream car was the Renault 25 when I was little, my father and uncle once had one. It has a fancy voice synthetizer computer system, and the seats were the most comfortable I ever experienced in a car, and everything was high end.
Classic S classe. What a machine
Всем кто приложил руку этому шедевру стоя аплодисменты❤
The OG Mercedes kinda feels like the car was made with love and not just a peeny pincher like nowadays

1:01 woah, is that early 90s softbody deformation simulation!? thats RAD!
And you probably think they used abacus to calculate everything back then???
@@nikostalk5730 what? no, i work in Maya/ZBrush now, and im older than you probably think... i was using an old version of Ray Dream 3D back in the late 90's when i was first learning 3D art... i just remember the limitations and how rudimentary things were, physical simulations, and good ones at that, weren't exactly common, and if all of those points are vertices, and its running in real time, thats just really cool.
It's the best car history has ever known, it's truly a masterpiece
Это времена когда солнце светило ярче, трава была зеленее, а люди довольствовались Мерседесом =)
Cars definitely peaked in the 90s, it’s the perfect merging of modern comforts, good looks, and even lots of bells and whistles that today’s cars don’t have.
I think about how for gasoline engines, EFI finally meant the possibility of a reliable California smog engine. Well, some EFI smog engines existed in the 80s, but in the 1990s, everything had it.

this car was so high quality for the price, its still being used today more than any other car
i haven't seen one of these for ages though
Many people don't know this but: That was THE most controversial Mercedes of ALL time.
Because jealous. 🇩🇪💪
Where was the controversy?
I thought the W140 still had options for mechanical injection turbo diesels.
It was due to princess diana. That was the same mercedes model year she died in 😢

Для 1980-х годов, когда этот автомобиль разрабатывался, это был "космический" автомобиль.
In the 1980s when that car was in process of development it was a "space" car.

Спорное заявление. :)
