Why you gotta go there Well, I voted for Bernie in the primary (I love Bernie), and voted for Hillary yesterday. I'm shocked and devastated at the moment, but all I can do is hope that the next 4 years won't be as bad as we think. The one silver lining -- in my mind -- is that Elizabeth Warren can now run in 2020, and I think she'd be an awesome president. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get back into the fetal position and resume sobbing uncontrollably.

Jewels Star Your points, outside of being represented by someone like you, I can somewhat agree with.
However, a lot of people did vote for her because she was a woman, or simply because she wasn't Trump (which goes further than her gender just being a "bonus"). What race, what gender, what whatever someone is, shouldn't impact an election. All that matters is what they stand for. I wouldn't vote for an Indian president just because I'm Indian-- since race and gender is not what makes the person and focusing on race/gender is really a form of racism/sexism in itself.
Anyway, Trump is already moving towards a moderate stance on everything but abortion and the energy sector (the latter of which is likely bluster since he knows how supply and demand works), so I'm already okay with him.
Additionally, I don't think anyone can really use "but she won the Popular vote" as any form of argument, as Al Gore lost for the same reasons, under EXTREMELY suspect conditions and no one cared. Think of this as payment for America's apathy back then. Why is it such an issue now?
Honestly, regardless of personal leanings and opinions, two good things came out of this election. One, we broke the mentality that only career politicians can be president. Two, the media can no longer decide presidencies (H. Clinton spent significantly more than Trump per Electoral College vote).
The next four years will be interesting, regardless.

Yeah! The only reason I voted for Hillary is that in the end (thanks to rigged primaries, thanks a lot, Democratic Party) she was the only qualified candidate. I'm a mexican chef that soon will be moving to California (legally) to work there and i'm truly corcern about this. I will be there legally, but i know that in my work millions of fellow co workers will be people there illegally, i just don't get it. There's bad apples but why so much hate in americans? the HUGE majority of illegals there are just hard working people, they pay taxes one way or another (actually, for what i know, one single dollar paid from an illegal is more of FIT than Trump's paid in almost 2 decades) with federal taxes, renting, etc.
They contribute and do it big time, they take your jobs? i gladly offer my almost 12 hours shift to any american to do it, i also support all the people in an orange field to offer their jobs to americans, want to work 12 hour daily? done, want to do it at 40° degress in summer? you got it, want the constant menace of a deporting? you have it, want to be away from all your loved ones in order to work? all yours, want to fight the constant racism for being "destroying" the country? got it. Want all that USA? job is yours then.
You are like this not because inmigrants, you are like this cause USA needs enemies, people to blame their national problems on, inmigrants, muslims, terrorists... All you have are way bigger problems on education, public health, and bad wealth distribution but you are to busy blaming inmigrants that don't see that politicians just watch you as mere sheeps that will sing the same song against his "enemies" if you feed them with enought fear.

They weren't exactly countries by European standards, but you can't expect the same political/societal ideas from a completely different continent. I think it's close enough to count, in regards to the word immigration at least.
And speaking of the word itself... the word migrant is used about any kind of larger movement around territories, no matter if the countries were established or not (migration of tribes)... why not immigration then - which technically is just migrating into some place. That is basically what I meant in my first comment when I wrote "in a way". I didn't mean actually.
