There's something a little ironic about a beauty brand intending to be an antidote to the oversaturated beauty market by introducing more new products to the market. But these do look really lovely. Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely!! I actually had a line in the original voiceover about this but cut it for time. There's certainly something quite jarring about minimal makeup brands often citing oversaturation as their reason for launching.. even when the launch is as nice as this 😂 x
LOL yeah felt that too with Nudestix avoiding wasteful packaging by giving a huge tin each time too. Idk. Whatever marketing works
It’s all about the almighty dollar, euro , pound etc..
Feel the same way about brands that claim to be "eco-friendly" or have the "planet positive" label at Sephora. If you wanted to help the planet the last thing you would be doing is manufacturing and shipping more crap that will end up in a landfill. If you want to help the planet so bad start a nonprofit or advocacy organization, not a consumer oriented buisness that sells single use, consumable luxury goods 🙄
Well, with Merit, I find it's a really curated line. Are they groundbreaking formulas? No. But the colors are all super flattering on a multitude of skin tones and more unique than meets the eye.
This is wonderful! I love how you described the brand as a "grown up Glossier vibe". I completely agree. The blush and the lipstick Tiger are the highlights for me. Even the foundation looks lovely.

@@matildaonvideo I really love “Cheeky” blush, but the packaging feels a little cheap compared to their other items. Not a huge fan of the brow product because it doesn’t have enough hold for me. I like the lip oils quite a bit and have Marrakech and Pink Beet.
@@valhoff3 The blushes have new packaging now, and feel a bit different in a good way. They also preform a bit better now imo. You’re right about the lip oil. I have au naturel and love the color and formula.

I recently purchased the Minimalist stick in Dune, the brush and a lipstick. Really love the stick and brush together; I’ve been using it over a tinted sunscreen serum and it works so well on my dry, aging skin. I like the lipstick, and if I didn’t already have a metric ton of cream blushes, I’d try that too!
If I didn’t already have more blush than I can use in a lifetime, I’d absolutely go for these. Especially Cheeky! So cute. I don’t have any lipstick (only tinted lip balms or lip tints) so these lipsticks seem like a nice way to ease into lipsticks.
Absolutely! Sheer lipstick (particularly something this lightweight and comfortable) is a perfect gateway to the lipstick world ☺️💄 x
I love Merit’s complexion sticks & lipsticks. I’ve acquired multiple of colors in both formulas & us them daily. Thankfully, Merit has launched its complexion sticks with more product for the same price & added a few more color options.
It’s like the adult mature version of glossier and I’m obsessed with their products!!!

tiger is my dream shade!! i’ve been wanting to purchase it for months but the shipping cost is so high. i’m waiting for it to come back to sephora. as for the blush shades, i agree they should make more. the shade terracotta is more of a light sandy beige than a terracotta. it’s very pretty but it only stands out on lighter skin tones. i hope they come out with more shades like terracotta but for medium-deep skin and a few more deep shades like mood and raspberry beret. they’re still a very new brand though so there’s still plenty of room to grow! :)

I absolutely LOVE Merit! I don't own any products cuz I'm broke, but I have tried most of them out at Sephora! My favorite would be the blush balm in the shade Beverly Hills lol

Another amazing video as always! I always enjoy these meet the brand videos! Such a great insight to products! Loved the Parent Trap joke 😂 I also agree that Tiger and even the blush Mood definitely would fit the aesthetic of Taylor Swift’s autumn album Red (Taylor’s Version obvs)! As for a shade of blush that I’d think would be fun to see, would be deep rich red color like that of a freshly poured glass of red wine, like Moods more cousin but with a touch more berry and maybe a hint of charcoal to it or a firey zesty orange like that of a northern flickers feathers (a beautiful local bird in my area) that are a truly beautiful shade of orange :)

I bought the lip oil and mine started to smell terrible after a month of using it. And now I can’t use it anymore. It smells like it went bad.

So fun to see this, Matilda! I have been loving this brand and have picked up pretty much the full line. I started with the Cheeky Flush Balm, but also just got the Beverly Hills Flush Balm and really love it. I dab it on my eyelids as well, along with some of the highlight, and it's really nice for a quick, every day look. I also LOVE the Millennial Pink Signature Lip, but seeing this video makes me want to try the Baby color. I placed an order last week to pick up some of the Marrakech, and a few things to gift to my daughter, so I could get that fun canvas bag. All of these formulas feel really good on my 56 year old skin.

Hi Matilda! Love Merit and so happy you have shared your thoughts on their products. Im not a highlighter person, not a tubing mascara fan and usually just go for an eyebrow pencil vs pomade. So I skipped those but have tried at least one shade of everything else. Big fan of the lip oils and blushes

I loved the texture of the complexion stick, but even their lightest is still a shade too dark for me! I have two of the lip oils as well, and I'm staying strong on a no-buy this year but can't wait for January to snag one of the lipsticks. Just gives me more time to decide which color I want! They all look so gorgeous!

As much as I love seeing the swatches, I always wonder what they look like on a darker skin tone

Unfortunately it's a limitation for any beauty content creator - we can only swatch on our skin, and even filming a face can be misleading as colours always come across differently on each person. The formulas delightful. But besides the cheeky blush most colors are a bit on the rusty browny beige orange for my preferences. I hope they extend the colors with something more cool toned colors along with shipping to europe

Slip arrived today and I love the formula. A little firmer then the Chanel and Gucci sheers but still moisturizing. The colour is the perfect nude on my natural lip colour and will be perfect for work or if I do a stronger eye look. Thanks Matilda.

L'avenue is so beautiful & I've had my eye on it since the lipstick launched but Im still wearing a mask indoors so much it seems like a waste to buy new lipsticks.

i really really love glossiers gen g lipstick in leo- within the merit lipsticks youves shown, which do you think is closest to that shade! theyre all beautiful but i cant choose
Good question Ciera! Unfortunately I haven't worn Leo in years so I can't compare that closely, but I don't think any of these are very similar. MERIT does have another deeper brown shade that might be a better fit if you applied a light layer? 🤎 x

I was fairly disappointed with the mascara and eyebrow gel. I want to try the lipsticks as I like the colors. A plus is HLP has raved about them too 😊

Hey Matilda, could you help me find a dupe? In the Rouje Signature lip palette there's a colour I love, it's the dark one that's not red but more of a brownish plum/burgundy. Or I don't know about the brown... I just really like the shade, and I would love to have it in a lipstick when I've used the palette. I think the equivalent was their lipstick in the shade Lamia, but it seems like it's discontinued... I hate when that happens. do you have any dupes for similar colours in the same lightweight, matte formula? Love, Tora

How would you say the complexion stick compares to the iconic Clè de Peau, in the same realm or totally different?
The Clè de Peau is the first thing that came to mind when I saw the minimalist, I’d love something that give the same skin like finish and amazing longevity but a bit lighter to be able to use allover when needed.
But maybe I’m just dreaming…..
Ooh great question Jenica! You know what, I think you're onto something here... On quick makeup / good skin days, I'd sometimes skip base and just blend a bit of Cle de Peau in the exact same areas that I now use The Minimalist (forehead, chin, outwards from the nose). Cle de Peau does have a lot more coverage, but I think they both fit in a similar skin-like, creamy category where The Minimalist is a lighter companion 👍 x

To anyone who's tried Glossier and MERIT, how do the blushes compare w/ colors and wear time?
Merit feels more balmy and lighter - easier to blend out but doesn’t stay the whole day (at least the lighter shades don’t.) Glossier is more pigmented, more paint-like, dries down a little quickly but longer lasting. Prefer merit, especially the more plummy/darker shades (blend out beautifully and easy to use and beginner friendly!)

does someone know if these are similar to the bobbi browns crushed lipsticks?
I can help Kristina! The MERIT lipsticks are a lot more balmy and lightweight on the lips with a satin finish, whereas Bobbi Brown Crushed (one of my all time favourites!) is matte and not as smooth or light 💄 1-2 swipes of each might have a similar look in terms of colour pay off, but the finish and formulas are ultimately quite different x

I loved the lip oil at first try. Beautiful texture, colors, not sticky. But they last about 1 minute before they fade on me. So not worth it.
When I first saw the lipsticks I thought I was Maybelline 100%. Same goes foe their blush, it is very similar to the Maybelline blush from many years back. I don't reallt like the packaging of these two and find it strange that nobody is pointing out the similarities.
I've definitely seen the Maybelline comparisons, and comparisons to other brands! That's why I mentioned that some people think that packaging doesn't fit the rest of the brand's style, but the formulas are fantastic! 😍 x

Good point Sydney, no satisfying stacking! 😂 They're still nice to use but maybe a shorter, wider version of The Minimalist stick would have been handy x
I bought the bronzer and stick highlighter. I have normal skin and am experienced with make up application and products. Both products are shockingly bad, greasy, sticky and basically unusable. To add insult to injury, no signature bag was sent, and this was my first order. Despite contacting Merit, they have ignored my requests for bag to be sent. £66 wasted, lesson learnt !
I find the lip oils to be extremely underwhelming. They have no lasting power whatsoever and aren't worth the price tag. The lipsticks, on the other hand... perfection. I own three.

Just after I scheduled this video late last week, they announced that The Minimalist would be restocking soon after some improvements! Sturdier packaging, twice the product, same price 👍 x
