The majority of youtube videos I watch usually have to do with gaming and game reviews. You deserve to know that you are easily one of my all-time favorite sources of gaming media and have been for some time. Many moons ago, your "top games of the '00s" video introduced me( for the first time) to games like half life 2 and borderlands. You've played a great part in my development of taste and appeal in video games. And you do a damn good job at what you do. Thank you for this channel!
Another enjoyable video from LGR! The time flew by at a faster rate while watching it. Thanks for always making videos I enjoy looking at. Other people seem to enjoy them too. :) Congrats on another excellent Top 17 list, and have a happy new year, when it arrives, which is soon!
I wish you were more popular for these videos and not just your sims reviews. You obviously take your time and effort to research all the material, break it down and validate why your opinions should matter and that makes for an enjoyable and detailed video. Keep entertaining us LGR :)
People indeed do lists these days, haha. I'll do an IMDB List of the Movies i saw on TV in 2012 and i'm preparing an ibook with 350+ dreams i've had this year. I LOVE end of the year LISTS!!! Awesome video like always clint. :)
My day today. * Woke up * Me: Hey LGR hasn't put out a video for a while. I wanna see more of him. * Eats breakfast, puts on laptop, puts on youtube * Me: Recommened for me.. OH MY LORDS, LGR has a new video. Good "What to watch" good boy. Great work in your peacing here dude. Thanks for not overloading your fans with video's and just leaving enough time in between them that you often come back for more. Great job.
Gotta say, The Walking Dead was the best storyline I've seen in a game, having decisions that are mainly focused on how to keep Clementine, a symbol of innocence, safe in an apocalyptic world.
Wow! This round up of great games of the 2012 variety kicks ass and indeed would chew bubblegum, if there was gum to chew! Totally forgot about Transformers, man. Next to Borderlands, Three Cry Far and other entries also delivered ports that gave the much needed respect for the PC that it deserved. Publisher starting to give a crap 'bout the Tandy versions. Freakin' finally, right? Now I'm going back playing through FallofCybertron again and touching myself every time Bruticus pops up on screen.
I've watched a lot of streams of games that came out this year, and I think the Walking Dead was the best game I never played, followed by Far Cry 3. I became hopelessly addicted to Mass Effect 3's multiplayer this year, so that takes the cake on my personal list. I enjoyed this video, by the way.
I personally really enjoy Spec Ops:The Line. The gameplay in MY opinion (I fully understand your opinion {Some people just don't like 3rd person shooters}) was just as good as the narrative. And by way you have an awesome voice and I really love your UA-cam show.
This is a great list. The only thing I want to know is if when they will make Borderlands 3. I seriously played the crap out of Borderlands 2, got literally the best equipment (The Bee + 2 Critical Conference Calls) and cant bring myself to play it any more, despite how much I love it.
Glad you mentioned Fall of Cybertron. That game did the brand more than justice, if you like G1 Transformers or even knew the guist of the characters you would love that game to pieces. Sadly the next game in the series went down a bad path...
I'm surprised you left out Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams. That game was on my own top 10 list from 2012 because of how awesome it was. It even has an oldschool Christmas mode. :D
Awesome list, I don't play as many computer games as I used to and I watch your videos to filter the games I do manage the time to play. You have great taste in games, very similar to the stuff I like... even the mundane sim games and europa universalis games! The only game on your list that I managed to play this year (because of your videos) is Borderlands 2. Bloody awesome it was. I too thought Diablo III suck turd big time, Thanks for the vids and I hope you earn lots of money from them!
Whilst i am yet to play some of the games on this video, i do like the list. On the subject of Assassins Creed i have also been a fan since the start and think its one of the best game franchise's out there. The way you reviewed it and the comments you made i think are very true :)
Yeah, Black Mesa was fun :) I also enjoyed Portal Pro and check out 'Edge' the retro style cube roller, simple as it is, it got some more levels a while back.
My personal top three: 3 - Borderlands 2 2 - FarCry 3 1 - Dishonored I loved all three of those games and will continue playing them for months to come.
LGR; What did you think about the "linear"-ness of XCOM? I'm actually playing through the new one right now, but comparing to the original, it seemed like it was all planned out from the start. Maybe they could make an expansion pack to it to give it a more sandbox approach, more like the original. Did you ever try the original? Do you think the new one deserves an expansion pack with a more openness to it? What do you think, sir (or anyone who cares)?
thank you LGR, at first I didn't want to play Sleeping Dogs because angry Joe and Yahtzee didn't like it, but after this I tried it and it's really fun.
I like your reviews because in the short time you dedicate to each game, you do cover why you like (or don't like) the games with reasoning that makes me go...hmmmm... I can respect that, even though I might disagree..
You should do a review on the top 20 under rated indie games, here are two to get you started: "Ball Crushers: Extreme Dodgeball" iOS & Android & "Lucky's Free Fall" on Android
Great unique list filled with both mainstream choices and some really obscure ones that are obviously special to you. It's your list and you sold the choices to me, though I accept that Farming Simulator III simply isn't for me ;)
I'm glad that the fourth Assassin's Creed game focused more on the Naval Battles. Though I'm not really sure if it can be as stealthy as the second game or Brotherhood. Swashbuckling is fun...
The original were great, but Absolution was great as well. Thanks for the very in depth explanation for WHY you think Absolution is ruined. You're pretty good at that.
That's not too far off from how I'd describe it. Didn't really care for it, personally. Hated the story, didn't like most of the gameplay changes, just wasn't a very fun game to me overall. There were fleeting moments where it felt like the Hitman games I loved, like 2 and Blood Money, but they were few and far between. Contracts mode didn't really do much for me either. Graphically it looked fantastic, but that didn't matter when the gameplay was weak.
Hey LGR, I saw that your number 12. spot was Tokyo Jungle, so I must ask you: did you like Cubivore for the Gamecube? It seems like a more realistic version of that game to me.
I played GO a good few hours in beta and once it released. It's pretty good, and I like the CS games, but they're not my favorite by any means. They just don't hold my attention like those on this list.
What's your opinion on Black Ops 2, Hitman Absolution, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, and Halo 4? I know that Halo 4 is a console game, but if you have played it, what are your thoughts on it? BTW, happy 2013!!!!
You mean activating the serial number one time through Uplay? Had no problems with it whatsoever, and you can play it offline without connecting through it anytime after that. Not heavy-handed or ridiculous. Yes it's still DRM and still annoying, but my point was that it's WAY more forgiving than the always-on, limited-install garbage you had to deal with in Ubisoft games of the recent past.
I am late to this party with the question I have, but I am curious after watching your 17 best of 1990-1999 and 2000-2009 videos. In this video, Black Mesa gets an honorable mention and HL2 topped your list in the 2000-2009, however HL1 doesn't appear to have made any lists. Is there any particular reason you chose Black Mesa over HL1, or was it simply due to this being focused over 1 year instead of a decade?
of all the games you mentioned ive only played miami hotline.... and that was great. man it sucks being a poor-ass guy like me.... but then again: then i get to play a lot of older games, which i can buy cheaply now. so its not all bad. but these kinds of lists always reminds me of the games i have to check out when i get the money.... though i dont have any time when i get money (from the job i dont have yet)
Fantastic! You have almost exactly the same taste in games as me, with the exception of Torchlight 2, but i have never even played a game like that. I was hoping Farcry 3 would be number 1! And I will just thank God that it wasn't Black Ops 2.
and one last thing, im bought Far cry 3 the day it came out , because i just loved the far cry series , and i got hooked , i played like 500+ games , and far cry 3 got me hooked. i played it for 3days without almost no sleep , i just loved it way too much, i finished everything about this game and i just wish i could get more! the only games that did this effect to me this year is : - The walking dead : telltales - Max payne 3 - tom clancy ghost recon future soldier - battlefield 3 !
Hey phreakindee i was watching your video on where to buy old games, will you do a review on the NAM games you showed in that video or at least do a lets play
I searched this video because this is the one that I first saw...and I clicked subscribe. Also I love that I see you respond to many of the comments here. I know it's hard to do this today. You and I have talked before (super limited), and just wanna say thanks for being a total tech nerd dude. See ya later!
Would you be open to any type of review requests? I know you don't review games you don't own, but a few of them are on steam/gog or are freeware. Majesty (on steam), Command and Conquer/Red Alert (freeware), Anno 1602 (abandonware)
Really good list, I like how you don't drag the video out with annoying re-caps and you just get straight to the point.
I'm tempted, honestly. As well as 1993, 1998, and 2004. Man those were great years for PC games.
Same reason any other random game wasn't mentioned: Because I didn't personally find it enjoyable enough to be included.
The majority of youtube videos I watch usually have to do with gaming and game reviews. I'm so happy you put Journey on your list, I absolutely adore that game and the soundtrack is amazing, the same goes for Tokyo Jungle.
I wish you were more popular for these videos and not just your sims reviews. You obviously take your time and effort to research all the material, break it down and validate why your opinions should matter and that makes for an enjoyable and detailed video. Keep entertaining us LGR :)
I love your choice of background music, it speaks volumes of your fine taste
Happy Holidays Phreak! Hope you had a good Xmas and I'm looking forward to more LGR goodness in 2013.
Wow that was the first time I've ever seen someone say anything not overwhelmingly positive about Spec Ops being a hidden gem
Excellent list. I want a lot of those games. Great video as always.
Also Unreal Tournament music FTW.
Great list! It's really fun to watch your videos, even though I don't play much games.
People indeed do lists these days, haha. I'll do an IMDB List of the Movies i saw on TV in 2012 and i'm preparing an ibook with 350+ dreams i've had this year. I LOVE end of the year LISTS!!! Awesome video like always clint. :)

You are probably the best reviewer out there. I can't wait for top 17 of 2013 !
I played almost all of these and this was a real cool list. Nicely done.
Not yet played any ME game. Just got the first two on Steam this week, so I hope to remedy that soon.
Enjoyed the video - I am glad to see Torchlight 2 on the list. I have not played much of Far Cry 3 yet due to me addiction to TL2 :-)
I have! Came quite close to including it on this list, and the only reason I didn't is because to me it really fizzled out about halfway in.
I usually only do worst/most disappointing game lists in blog form. Not sure if I'll do one this year, but we'll see!
Have you seen my collection? No way :)
Gotta say, The Walking Dead was the best storyline I've seen in a game, having decisions that are mainly focused on how to keep Clementine, a symbol of innocence, safe in an apocalyptic world.

And why would you say that? Because it's not on this list? No, it was on the best of 2011 list. Because it came out in 2011...
I love your reviews, i love your videos. Please do more. Please never stop.
Quite the awesome list. Ahh Torchlight...lots of clicking and item management...addicting stuff
Oh, sweet! That Flashback box on your shelf brings back such sweet memories...
I personally really enjoy Spec Ops:The Line. The gameplay in MY opinion (I fully understand your opinion {Some people just don't like 3rd person shooters}) was just as good as the narrative. And by way you have an awesome voice and I really love your UA-cam show.
The only reviewer I enjoyed listening. Thanks for not cursing in your videos
You. Are. Awesome. Thank you for this and all the other videos you do! Oh, and Happy New Year!!
Dishonored was Amazing. It was Awesome seeing the difference between High and Low Chaos Story lines.
Loved the review and agreed so much. Though I would put Dishonored as my number one. Keep the reviews coming. And have a great new year.
This is a great list. The only thing I want to know is if when they will make Borderlands 3. I seriously played the crap out of Borderlands 2, got literally the best equipment (The Bee + 2 Critical Conference Calls) and cant bring myself to play it any more, despite how much I love it.

Yeah, Black Mesa was fun :) I also enjoyed Portal Pro and check out 'Edge' the retro style cube roller, simple as it is, it got some more levels a while back.
i didn't see one like you , you talked about all types of games you are awesome you are the best , keep it up :D
Hahaha, totally noticed the UT99 music in the background, nice touch sir.
been waiting all year for this
my favorite was dishonored. awesome story, gameplay and artstyle
Do you intend on making a top 17 worst/most disappointing games list? also that UT music in the background gave me a nostalgia trip, love that game.
My personal top three:
3 - Borderlands 2
2 - FarCry 3
1 - Dishonored
I loved all three of those games and will continue playing them for months to come.
This is prettymuch my top 17 of 2012 too, except I didn't play most of them until 2015.
and I for one am glad you aren't AngryJoe as well, your videos are more entertaining and informative than that guy will ever be
I couldn't agree more with Sleeping Dogs. Really hope they'll see the potential in a sequel and make one.
How did you feel about Hitman Absolution this year in the big span of things chief?
LGR left you on read :(
I am with you there on Assassin's Creed I bought the game so excited it was really fun but had a lot of bugs :-(
Why do other people like 10, 15, and 20 for lists so much?
your videos are my new addiction!
Considering no new Sims game came out 2012, why even ask? This is a list of full games, not expansion packs.
Wonderful list! Love that you put some games made in Montreal.
One of my Top Games was Diablo 3 Personally and Halo 4, and my biggest disappointment was definitely Soul Calibar 5 and Jurassic Park.
Yes, Farcry 3 was awesome; most fun I've had with a open world game in a long time.
thank you LGR, at first I didn't want to play Sleeping Dogs because angry Joe and Yahtzee didn't like it, but after this I tried it and it's really fun.
I like your reviews because in the short time you dedicate to each game, you do cover why you like (or don't like) the games with reasoning that makes me go...hmmmm... I can respect that, even though I might disagree..
You voiced a video-game Duke Nukem. Thats awesome hope you had fun doing it
You should do a review on the top 20 under rated indie games, here are two to get you started: "Ball Crushers: Extreme Dodgeball" iOS & Android & "Lucky's Free Fall" on Android
Great unique list filled with both mainstream choices and some really obscure ones that are obviously special to you. It's your list and you sold the choices to me, though I accept that Farming Simulator III simply isn't for me ;)
Heck yeah man!
You used "Go Down" music! Awesome!
I'm glad that the fourth Assassin's Creed game focused more on the Naval Battles. Though I'm not really sure if it can be as stealthy as the second game or Brotherhood. Swashbuckling is fun...
BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS!!!!
Awesome video! Thank you LGR!!
The original were great, but Absolution was great as well. Thanks for the very in depth explanation for WHY you think Absolution is ruined. You're pretty good at that.

Anyone from 2023 watching this trying to live that 2012 era again????😢😢
Hey LGR, I saw that your number 12. spot was Tokyo Jungle, so I must ask you: did you like Cubivore for the Gamecube? It seems like a more realistic version of that game to me.
Awesome list I liked almost all games :D
I like your video game tastes. Very close to my own list to the best games of 2012. I will have to try out Mark of the Ninja. :)
BTW, happy 2013!!!!
its a crime that your videos don't have more views.
i agree with you it has ONE of the best story lines ive seen in a game so far
Just found you throug looking for a Re-volt review. Subscribed!
Man, I have to get Tokyo Jungle...playing as a animal, apocalyptic setting, and Japanese craziness all in one package? Sign me up.
I'm kind of surprised FTL: Faster than Light wasn't on your list, I figured that would have been your sort of RPG/strategy game.
Well I'm not Angry Joe. I'm me. And I generally just don't care about MMOs whatsoever.
My GOTY was Tribes: Ascend. Kinda shocked it didn't make it onto your list. :P But it did fly under a lot of radars.
UT OST for life
I am late to this party with the question I have, but I am curious after watching your 17 best of 1990-1999 and 2000-2009 videos. Happy to see that Sleeping Dogs is so high on this list, it really deserved it.
of all the games you mentioned ive only played miami hotline.... and that was great.
man it sucks being a poor-ass guy like me.... but then again: then i get to play a lot of older games, which i can buy cheaply now. so its not all bad.

the only games that did this effect to me this year is :
- The walking dead : telltales
- Max payne 3
- tom clancy ghost recon future soldier
- battlefield 3 !
Hey phreakindee i was watching your video on where to buy old games, will you do a review on the NAM games you showed in that video or at least do a lets play
Thank you for not mentioning terrible games that everybody likes. Like Halo 4, Blops2, RE6
So glad you made this!!!
Why 15 when you can have 17? Awesome video.
Thanks for your opinions..appreciate it very much
I searched this video because this is the one that I first saw...and I clicked subscribe. Also I love that I see you respond to many of the comments here. I know it's hard to do this today. You and I have talked before (super limited), and just wanna say thanks for being a total tech nerd dude. See ya later!
That music at the end is freakin' sweet.
very well rounded and good list
This list introduced me to Crusader kings 2. Now it's my all time favourite game
Same here, also the reviews on steam for CK2 are bloody brilliant
+The Mad Hammer indeed they are
Would you be open to any type of review requests? I know you don't review games you don't own, but a few of them are on steam/gog or are freeware.
Majesty (on steam), Command and Conquer/Red Alert (freeware), Anno 1602 (abandonware)
I am like you, thinking of playing them eventually but just haven't been motivated to yet, so I'm looking forward to hearing your opinion. :)
What's your opinion on Black Ops 2, Hitman Absolution, & Counter Strike: Global Offensive?
