Slow TV should not be thought of as a "TV-show" in the usual sense. Think of it more like a new window in your living room - a window to a place you usually would not have a chance to see.
And i suspect many do not sit down to watch this - but leave it on in the background - while cooking, reading a book, cleaning - watching a little bit now and then - just like a real window.

I agree with you . Ever since my wife discovered it while staying in Scotland; we became aficionados of snoocker . What is more fascinating than that wonderful green carpet, the clack of the balls and the thud of the ball in the pocket ? Mostly silence unless that ace, O'Sullivan playing like the Rocket Man he is at full speed .

Hei hei Minnesota! I can imagine people from the old Dakota Territory, or the North-East part of USA, would like this, since there's actually just as many Norwegian-Americans, as there's "Norwegian Norwegians", or ethnic Norwegians. About 4 million in the old world, and 4 million in the new world.
I love the movie Fargo. 😀

Funny story: I met an American in his 30's last spring in Tokyo, who told me how he and his GF read a news story about one of the broadcasts - think it was the Hurtigruten coastal cruise. They dug around a bit and found a cable channel who had the broadcast, got high and started watching. Best TV we ever saw, was his verdict.

I could definitely get into this, I probably wouldn’t grab some popcorn, sit down and be hyped about it, but I’d definitely put it on while I’m cooking, cleaning, using it as background noise and video. I like it ! Norway seems like such a nice beautiful place to live with good people.

As a Norwegian I can say that we're not all big fans of this. The programming itself is fair enough, fun experiment. But the channel NRK is funded by what we call a "TV license" that we have to pay twice a year regardless of if we actually watch that channel or not. This causes some problems, like that screens without a receiver for TV signals becomes very difficult to come by and much more expensive than they need to be. Everyone here has some older person buy their TV to avoid the license hassle, or just refuse to pay it since they have no actual way of enforcing it since they have no way to tell if you have a TV or not. People just say they use computers instead, that the TV broke, whatever, it's not like they can search your house anyway. So now they want to change it and make it like in the UK where everyone regardless of if they have a TV or not pay for it, and to sell that policy they say that only people over a certain age will have to pay so that young people won't get affected (but we know this is most likely a lie and that will change just a few years after they pass it). Now if this was BBC and I was paying for say Doctor Who, I'd go along with it, but considering what NRK produces, I and many others have no interest in watching it or paying for it, especially not programming that is the same god dammed thing I see out the window.

They have uploaded most of their broadcasts online, just not on youtube. On their own site nrk.no
Here's a bird cliff, in real time, for 5 hours: tv.nrk.no/serie/fuglefjellet-hornoeya/DVNA20000516/sesong-1/episode-1
Here's the Sara family, a sami family, moving their reindeers from winter to summer grounds, in real time, for 10 days: tv.nrk.no/serie/reinflytting-minutt-for-minutt/SAPR63800117/24-04-2017
      Here's - for some reason I don't understand - 12 hours of minecraft: tv.nrk.no/serie/hele-norge-bygger-minutt-for-minutt/MSUB01100116/sesong-1/episode-1
      Here's a boat traveling on a canal for 6 hours: tv.nrk.no/serie/telemarkskanalen-minutt-for-minutt-tv/DVFJ60001112/26-08-2012
And then in addition to the ones mentioned in the CBS show, there's also a entire hymnal being sung(899 hymns), a Christmas pork rib being slow cooked for 7 hours, the world's oldest paddle steamer still in timetabled service for 1 week, and 12 hours of the worlds strongest maelstrom/whirlpool.
And then there's my favorite. It's 3 - 4 hours of a fisherman pulling cod on his boat. tv.nrk.no/program/dkno30000114/skreifiske-torsk-for-torsk
I love that last one. It's very relaxing to watch that fisherman, and his dialect is very soothing. But off course, it's all in Norwegian.
Most programs on nrk.no aren't availible to watch from other countries. But I think all of these are. I have my VPN set on London to watch BBC for free, and I could still watch all of these, so I think it's fine.

This would totally work in the US as we have so much geographic distance between various regions and curiosity about the land and its people. There is a certain demographic of viewer who longs for what is natural, real and beautiful. Many of us who watch CBS Sunday Morning fit that demographic. Those of us who value the diversity, who view our land as our greatest resource, and who love people for the very sake of curiosity about one another would love to see humanity in its natural habitat, not the one presented by marketers and those who exist in a state of acquisition and competition.

I, as a Norwegian, would call it "Background TV". This isn't something you sit down in the sofa and watch for many hours. It's more like a program that you put on to have something in the background while you have guests or something, and check in on the TV for a minute or two before you return to the guests. We also have the world's best chess player and the matches tend to go for many, many hours. It's nice having it on in the background. Yes, we are a strange country, and no, Kvikklunsj is NOT Kit Kat.

What a wonderful time we have traveling just absorbing slow tv. This really is a very effective way of calming us all down, I think it's becoming more and more popular for good reason. Thank you for sharing.
We film natural gopro walks through soulful cities but it's lovely to see interesting places we may never get to go to too.

I've noticed how there's really long videos of log's burning in a fireplace, that can be put on repeat, on Netflix now. But perhaps that's only here in Norway?

This isn't about exciting or boring, it's relaxing, nothing like it on TV and even in life.
A good show to watch where you can watch and do nothing, relax and go through your thoughts.

Hmm I'm pretty sure a local station in Denmark, TV Syd, showed slow TV in the 2000s of train rides.
They were not meant as the broadcasting as such, but were showed in the hours leading up to the broadcasting.
I remember a few times by accident zapping to these channels and watched it a few times of maybe half an hour.
It's such a strange feeling cause you get mesmerized into just just staring onto the screen. It's soul healing.
