That's hell-fire acceleration out of Morpeth loop. Often wish that the 2+8s and 2+9s had been able to do that after MTU re-engining and mid-life refurb.😜
Great video - so hypnotic watching the scenery rush towards you at full speed. Would these sets have run at 125mph during delivery after refurb - and if so, would that be their last time before being restricted to 100mph on the routes they will work? Just wondered if they still have the potential to run at 125mph?
I understand the reason for the speed limitation to 100 mph is to do with the reduction in the number of carriages resulting in less brake force, presumably to do with the power cars being so heavy compared to the carriages. This may be why XPTs never appear to run with less than 4 cars (their top speed is also nominally 100 mph).
They're still 125mph trains, they're not restricted to 100mph. The only reason they don't exceed 100mph now is because 100mph is the maximum speed on the routes they run on. It's the route that's restricted, not the HSTs.
Love these kind of videos. Keep it up.
Can't wait to visit Scotland again. Loved my time on Scotrail. Please keep these cab ride videos coming!!
Much better than some. You can actually hear sound!
Smashing video. Keep them coming.

Hurrah, now with sound!
0:00 are those cross country mk3s
Great video and some interesting routings. Thanks. Any possibility that you could make the whole journey available, please?
The whole trip is already on our channel, Gerry. We can't share the sound for the whole thing, as it'd include chatter between the crew. ^Angus
@@ScotRail Thanks. Now found it.. I couldn't find the Doncaster/Newcastle section. Is there any possibility of it being made available too, please?
@@gerrynewnham9932 We only shot the time lapse from Newcastle to Haymarket, Gerry. ^Angus
We need to put markings in the timetables so we know which one is a HST like in the early days...
Look left when going over Durham Viaduct and you can just about see Barnard Castle🤣
any chance for a full run with sound? enjoyed this but would be nice to have a full run with sound.
178 miles in 15 minutes, that's some going.

@@Martindyna Ah, okay - that makes sense, thanks.

Yes it’s the route that’s restricted unfortunately. I wish they could go at 125!
Do scotrail go down to England nowadays?
Would it be possible to have a timelapse of the hole journey so it took 10 or 15 minutes to complete the entire journey? Thanks
Way ahead of you, check out our channel! ^Angus
@@ScotRail ok thanks.
This train has got more toe than a roman sandal.
I wonder if they ever get tailgated by a white train full of builders, continuously honking their horn
I’m making a scotrail HST on MINECRAFT!
