What about Bret Lacey? Or was that his brother that won, at least one title. Didn't he? Or was Bret Lacey also known as Nippa?
It's all just SOOOO long ago ... I can't remember!!

@@frenzalrhomb6919 ... It was Brett who won the 1987 title (in late 1986) in Darwin. The other Lacey was Ray, otherwise known as Nippa. He's Brett's dad.

@@Holden308 Aha!! And they're both from Perth, eh? Because I'm sure that the old Man, Alf Barbagallo, and one or two others came over here to Sydney to race a few East Coast events in the early 80s, and I remember clearly driving over on a Friday night with a carload of mates to Parramatta City Raceway to see these heavily billed blokes from the West. We were NOT disappointed, I can tell you!! Some very good racing indeed. Good, hard charging stuff, and I also recall some American drivers, I think it was a very young "Jumping"Jac Haudenscild and a few others, one of whom I think from memory was Doug Wolfgang, or maybe he came the next year, I have been known to wrong about these things!!

@@frenzalrhomb6919 ... sorry, wrong again mate lol. The Lacey's are Victorian's from around the Geelong area I believe. Their home tracks were the old Melbourne Speedbowl, Avalon and Warrnambool.
