The biggest Shame is that this song has never been on their live set lists. I hope they eventually bring it out for a live performance because it is by far my favorite song off Drift.
@@UnkleIrohI know this is a two year-old comment, but you might be in luck. At the VIP q&a for their last show in Chicago, Jesse said they were probably going to do a 10th anniversary tour for the album, or that at least they were strongly considering it. So let’s hope for 2026 🤞
When I first listened to Drift, I thought Safehaven was the perfect ending to cap it off. In fact, I liked it so much as a climax that I didn’t bother listening to The Hypnotist. This track carries the Drift vibe in full swing, it’s long and while it might not be on the same massive scale as Render the Void or Dementia (opting instead for a more emotional and personable feel), it’s quite epic in itself. It took me ages, but when I listened to The Hypnotist, I realised this album had two endings. A happy ending and a sad ending. The Hypnotist didn’t quite get me at first, it’s really moody and sticks out a lot on Drift, but overtime it grew on me. Today, I think The Hypnotist is the best track on the album, but Safehaven is just shy of equal brilliance. These tracks mirror each other while also going hand in hand - Safehaven is longer and more ‘epic’ - whereas The Hypnotist (while still pretty damn lengthy in its own right) provides the climactic finish to the record. If album’s had multiple endings, I’d assume both of these tracks to be options. They’re just that good.
+Steve Aboagye As much as I appreciated Garrison and Alan's importance to the band I really think Jesse is what makes ERRA, his use of melody is always on point.
I listened to the album from start to finish when i got it in the mail on the 8th and as Continuum ended i just knew that this song was about to blow me away.. I had high hopes that there would be another song on this album that i would love as much as i loved Dementia and this was that song hands down.. The whole album is just incredible
Listening in 2021. This will always give me nostalgia of working night shifts and driving home in the morning when the sun was coming up just blasting this song and feeling so at peace. I hope they play this at my funeral.
+Rob Angst Im not sure he really took your comment for a compliment lol Btw hes talking about the band Polyphia comparing thier 2 albums, Muse and Inspire, to this. Wouldve helped if he said the band name.
SuhDuhjent Yea it was a tad hazy for me, man. Polyphia will be getting some attention. People are always surprised when I tell them I've never listened to them.
I love the fact they ended the song similarly to Rebirth with the same small lead section. Reminiscent at its finest. Definitely my favorite track on this record alongside Hypnotist and Continuum.
I love the Ghost Atlas feel in the beggining. Then it goes right into the badassery of melodic audacity proved enlightening by the new vocalist Jt. Beautiful!
Still getting the same motivation to tell my brothers and sisters that nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it... We are eternal even after we go...
This is one of my favorite solos of all time. This seriously holds up to the classic solos because of the melodic emotion. Idk how many times I’ve rewound it at listened from the solo to the end of the song.
Jesse, I know this may not be in your plans. But you have to release a new album with the amazing Ghost Atlas feel! I know its bottled up! We would love it!
After losing Garrison and then Alan the riff mastermind, I didn't expect much from these guys, but this definitely exceeded my expectations. Good shit guys!
+Brandon Reich I see where you're coming from but in all respect to Alan, i think that jesse is more of a riff master than him, and more talented aswell.
for those who thought the sound change of the recent materials of ERRA was due to Alan leaving, that's not entirely correct. While they are both extremely talented, they write songs almost always separately(fated design was the only song they wrote together). This means songs on Augment and Impulse are either written entirely by Alan or entirely by Jesse. For example Alpha Seed/Hybrid Earth/Dementia, these songs are done all by Jesse. The sound change was intentional. As he could've easily go on and write more Seven/The Architect/Pulse(again, songs Jesse wrote alone).
Every memory recalled is an origin that we've altered. Broken promises to another man's daughter. Endless walk down a dead road as our last breaths begin to falter. We lend our weight to the backs of our broken fathers. Featherweight boy in his arms, every night he weeps, constantly drifting in and out of sleep. Palm against transparent skin, fingers tracing ribs, reassurance that the heart was still beating. At the helm of death every day like clockwork, restless nights with trembling hands against transparent skin. But they carry on, because survival is not a dead end. Whether or not the world is withered away, we are each other's world entirely. We are evermore. Lost ghosts around every corner, on every charred sidewalk, still trudging through the ash of an endless walk. With bodies cold and weightless, resilient of death in life, resilient of death in death, they walk on. Dreaming of a safe haven at the end of the road, an unstable safety, the only kind we've ever known. Oh, we walk along, dreaming of a safe haven at the end of the road. Our legs will never fail. We'll carry on. And I swear to you... Whether or not the world is withered away, we are each other's world entirely. We are evermore. Oh, we walk along, dreaming of a safe haven at the end of the road. Resilient of death because life is not a dead end. Whether or not the world is withered away, we are each other's world entirely. We are evermore. Survival is not a dead end. We are evermore.
The song is about the endless path called life we're walking, thinking it's pointless and we're all alone, but the lyrics beg to differ that at some point along the road, we'll meet some people or someone amazing who will be our solid ground, a safe haven. Till then, we have each other to look after
Next time these young metal gods come to Seattle I'm going to vip or whatever you call it and request this song and my Favorite Expiate I won't rub feet but I would pay extra 🤘🍻🌮
+Matthew Mc This album is good... but it will never have the emotional value to me as songs like "spirits away" or "dementia"... i miss Garrison Lee :(
+Matthew Mc I agree to an extent.... clearly this album is darker and has more "metal" sounding guitars than ghost atlas. But yeah, my first listen through I thought the same thing. Like I like it for sure, but is different from what is was before. Not that I'm complaining, I love ghost atlas too.
The biggest Shame is that this song has never been on their live set lists. I hope they eventually bring it out for a live performance because it is by far my favorite song off Drift.
I couldn't agree more man, I can't listen to this track without going on a feel trip.
I want a Drift tour
Full Album
God...the things I'd do to see that show
Me 2 bruh

@@NicBrandon bro I will SHIT MY PANTS if this actually happens
Drift is my "lifetime album", nothing else compares 👌🏼👌🏼
This chorus omg.....i cant stop listening to it. Whether or not the world is withered away, we are each other's world entirely!
Deeperintotheskin we all belong to God bro

the hypnotist is insanely awesome, i enjoy safehaven hella lot aswell.
I literally couldn't have said this better myself
that guy is an amazing guitarist!
This song is actually in drop F tuning the Two rhythm guitars both 6 string baritones and the Lead guitar played on 7 string!
Hands down best album. Orchid, safehaven, and skyline are thee absolute fucking best songs I've ever heard👍
add the hypnotist and hourglass to that list
and Drift !
I think this album and Impulse are two sides of a perfect coin, can't get enough of either depending my mood.a
I agree
this may be the best band in the world and the best song I've heard in a while. Erra and Periphery are forever my 2 favorite bands
Listen to hopesfall misery signals and btbam your world will turn upside down
+hussguy1990 i love btbam!!!! colors did change my world! and the coma ecliptic is amazing
Same here brother along with Architect on the 3rd spot...my top 3 🤘
I love people with good taste
3:44 - to the end is such a mesmerizing piece
That solo and that chorus with the gang vocals after it just makes me want to take off my clothes and embrace the atmosphere of the universe.
***** You know where to find me haha
Experience tranquility
Suddenly, they became so emotional in this album omg 😭
Jesse was amazing on this track; reminds me of Heart.
+Steve Aboagye As much as I appreciated Garrison and Alan's importance to the band I really think Jesse is what makes ERRA, his use of melody is always on point.
+OG Haze Completely agree
+Steve Aboagye Continuum reminded me of Heart more than this. This is like a ghost atlas erra fusion
Steve Aboagye from what band?
***** From ERRA
Beautiful Guitars! Still blasting this album 2020.
Hands down the best song on the album.
Jake Endoobie DGD album !!! I can't wait it drops on the 7th , btw I still don't know wat the fuck is cocaine cringe fest , if u know wat I mean 😂
Listen to Flossie Dickey Bounce ;)
Jake Endoobie I did and it was incredible ! DGD never dissapoints
It is, I somewhat wished that this was the album closer, not the Hypnotist. Maybe Hypnotist before Safehaven and Safehaven as album closer.
One of my favorite solos in modern metal, straight up soulful.
I listened to the album from start to finish when i got it in the mail on the 8th and as Continuum ended i just knew that this song was about to blow me away.. I had high hopes that there would be another song on this album that i would love as much as i loved Dementia and this was that song hands down.. The whole album is just incredible
4:40 the guitar solo is absolutely amazing
Xxx_mlg420yolo_xxX this is my favorite solo by Jesse. Tied with Hybrid Earth for that amazing string sliding.
Beautiful!!

The riff that starts at 3:00 and ends 3:12 is probably the coolest I ever heard, wish they kept it going for another measure or something
+Sir Sauvage I really like The Hypnotist's part from 1:02 untill 1:15. BROKEN MEMORIES CONSUME ME
I love the riff during the verse starting around 2:12. Beautiful.
The whole is amazing though, to be honest.
OUR LEGS WILL NEVER FAIL. this is about to be such a good running jam
Holy crap, I thought Jesse's cap was in Skyline, but this is astonishing. They really didn't show their hand until this album dropped.
I'm confuzzled. Muse is a band correct, and Inspire is an album that belongs to Muse? Erra does remind me of Saosin sometimes.
+Rhonesnipe what are you talking about?
+Coffin Dragger Lol I was thinking the same.

Best lyrics on the whole album. 6 years later and this album still get me. "survival is not a dead end"
3:00 to 3:14 such a mesmerizing solo part there..
Favorite song on Drift. I really hope Neon has a track similiar to this. Would be f*cking awesome.
EDIT: Unify, anyone?
Hell yeah
That ending gives me chills every time
love the solo
This whole song, the music- specially the intro literally felt like a ray of hope at the end of a long tunnel of despair
Still getting the same motivation to tell my brothers and sisters that nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it... We are eternal even after we go...
Amazing vocals. O can really hear the emotionally.
hands down one of the best songs I have ever heard!!!!! Amazing
1:30 to 1:38 is easily the best part of the whole album...just, ha it's soo good.
despite many line up changes its great to see these guys pull through. theyre gonna do great under sumerian.
4:40 to 5:10 i'm suddenly crying
This is one of my favorite solos of all time. This seriously holds up to the classic solos because of the melodic emotion. Idk how many times I’ve rewound it at listened from the solo to the end of the song.
Good it’s a good feeling of greatness
wow x 4
Been jamming this album for the last 48 hours and love every song on here but I seem to keep coming back to this one the most.
+Kyle Triggs Same, the chorus is great.
erra you have done it again another splendid album, always been satisfied with your tasty licks
Dem low grooves at 1:19 is what makes this song so good!
This band is beyond talented.
saw these guys live in chico, CA not to long ago. I walked right out and bought this CD.
¡Qué buena canción! Amo cuando canta notas altas
Jesse, I know this may not be in your plans. But you have to release a new album with the amazing Ghost Atlas feel! I know its bottled up! We would love it!
I love Ghost Atlas too but I also love Erra and I think they should remain separate!
At 2:12, that transition 😮💨
4:40 just sends you
OUR LEGS WILL NEVER FAIL
This album is a classic loved these guys since their first release even through lineup changes good shit
After all these years, this song still feels like coming home.

+Madara Jesse is no doubt a beast. One of the best clean vocalists in the genre as well.
+Madara They are both so amazing, it was sad to see one part ways

Still here for 2019. 😎
Every time i listen to this song i lose all attention to the world around me and go to another place entirely
Cannot wait for new material....
I deemed Drift as the peak of Erra
Oh god that bass. Just goes to show how much bass helps a song!
Best song on the album

1:50 the guitars resonate together omg
I was never really able to get into this band before. However, I think this album might have done that for me! Amazing stuff.
God Bless ERRA!
FINALLY reading the book this song is based off of and WHEW it’s such an emotional song through that lens

Any idea when this will be up on Spotify?
not for a few months so the band can make money off of sales
sounds like Volumes!?
Nope
The intro... :')
So I can't tell, have they moved up to extended range guitars?? 7 string perhaps?
Or still just drop tuning
So sick either way!
Yeah they starting using them on the last ep
Beautiful. bottom line is if you don't like the way it sounds, don't listen to it.
m4e encanta tada tu banda o cuando dises o maiga me en canta :D
Next time these young metal gods come to Seattle I'm going to vip or whatever you call it and request this song and my Favorite Expiate I won't rub feet but I would pay extra 🤘🍻🌮
I need that snare.
swag
2:12 hehe nice riff
