The thing that scares me the most are those little fast and explosive guys their run up is so fast that they look like they are going to spike it into the 3rd meter
That's right. Most of them are high talented spikers. Despite being called 'short', they break the stereotype that "short people can't spike well". They prove that determination can break the limit and beyond.

MsKath YT same, I’m 5’2 and the strongest hitter on my team but I always chicken out because I can’t jump as high and I’m always scared that I’m just gonna hit it into the net, it’s also hard to even get balls because I’m a right side hitter and the setters on my team are comfortable yet with back setting

Well 182 in sports is with shoes + rounding up to the closest inch, shoes add 3.5 cm on average so if someone is 178.1 without shoes is 182 in the volleyball court. Also Josh barinna in this video is 175

Besides the whole of North-East is playing football from decades still we are no where in any cadre of teams U 21 or the Pro team.
I'm fro the North Delhi Wing and Until n Unless Hefty Boys from Punjab, Haryana, UP & MP Dont start to play we will still remain there where we were decades ago. So height does matter ok?

@@kikruneitozenyu-u4318 No Bro.....It is not. If you look it that way then every single sport except cricket, especially team sport is about height. The pro football team has avg height of 5'10, it's hard to find a tennis player below 5'10 or 6. Even the Pak Cricket teams Avg height is like around 6 and we have like shortest on earth. Our country's Avg height is like 5'6 for Male which is lower than many Asian nations including Japan nd Korea.
No doubt taller athletes have edge in Volley or Basket but being tall is not enough you got to have that agility, that skill. For ex In a game of Giants Basketball Steph Curry is a hero but then he also stands 6'3, In a game of Volley Kubiak and Ngapeth stand as hero but they also stand 6'3 and 6'4 respectively.
So yeah height is needed but it's just not the height.
Go here in the Philippines. There's a lot of small player but still good at playing volleyball.

Seems so. If you pause at 1:52 - 1:53 you can see, that his hand barely at the top of the net right before his feet left the floor. I‘m about 178 cm big and my hand also is at the same height.
Barrina probably has one of the best if not the best hops in volleyball.
I saw him live once and he seems to defy gravity.
So that net is probably 243 or super close to it.

at that specific clip it’s 9 man volleyball so the net is a little shorter than men’s height, but higher than women’s height

U gotta take a look at the outside hitter called protopsaltis. He currently plays for VFB Friedrichshafen and is only a little bit larger than 1.80m

lol if you aren't 18 you have a shorter net, like in the under 14 is like 214/220cm i think, if you are like 160cm tall you only need to jump 40 cm to have almost all of your arm up on the net

My friend here in the ph is 159 cm he jumps so high he can pretty much spike the ball, im a basketball player (179cm) he showed me how to play volleyball cause he was confident about me being a great spike for their team trying to recruit me for their volleyball team lol, after playing with him sometime I think he jumps just as high as me lol, he blocked my spike once

I'm also 159 cm and can spike the ball. Sometimes, my head is over the net. But most of the time, when I jump, my head is just the same as the height of the net. But I can still spike.

There are many spikers who are only 160 cm in Mizoram, India. They can spike effortlessly even within the 3 metres line..
Many years of training lol my height is just 171cm but i can jump up to 319cm at my peak
But i ended up being setter and middle blocker like bruuuuhhh i wanna spike too💔

remember one huge jumper 20 years ago in our minor volleyball league. He was 185cm, did athletics before, in high jump he was at 215-220 cm level at age of 20. Then he realized, that he can't improve more and started to play volleyball. Well everyone stopped, when he spiked in pre-game warmup. His jump was brutal, really nice to watch. Anyway, in game first 4-5 spikes were blocked by my teammates and we have never heard about him since then :-]

dude im 186 and I play spike and middle blocker at a decent level you're not that short xD (for reference I touch the top of the net without jumping and heels on the ground)
just need to get a good vert :) im getting there xD I can only touch around 315 cm but it's good enough to attack fast sets and hit them down hard :)
