Hey guys! We got our hands two of the most desirable JDM drift sedans and today it's time to see which is the better platform to import. Under the hood of the Nissan Laurel is the RB25DET and powering the Toyota Chaser is the infamous 1JZ-GTE, both very stout power plants and both ready to make your drifting street dreams a reality. Both 2.5L, turbocharged engines have a lot going for them, but as we all know, no car is perfect. Enjoy!

I never imagine such a comparison, this is proper video thanks
amer jn1 that because you have no imagination and only know the Main stream cars
@@Toyota4Life you are an idiot
I am glad you enjoyed the video. If you want to help us out, please share the video link on social media!
Typically not a huge Toyota fan, but I love the way that Chaser looks and sits....
Great content as usual!
Look like old m5. Wait a min......
@@campkira I definitely don't think it looks like an E39, they are pretty awesome...However the back end kinda looks like an early 00's Acura TL.
How can you not like Toyota lol
I’m from Australia and we’ve had rb’s since 86 (rb30) and j series since 1990. Your review was about two different cars not engines, the difference only becomes apparent in big hp setups. We are at the forefront of this. Fast J’s and 32 gtr’s full interior, a/c, running 7 second 1/4, street cars. There is so much more to this story and many differences to these engines and a lot of development that North America doesn’t know about.
So true
.. I mean I get what youre saying.. but.. The title is ' Toyota Chaser v Nissan Laurel ' .. they just happen to have a 1J and an RB. It is supposed to be about the cars.. not their engines.
Come Trinidad we could u every thing u need to know about laurel c35 n others n jzx100 love both cars
Facts 😂😂
yip
dawg c35 come like hot sun it common in trinidad😂🤣
Yh boii yuh done know
Big dawg take my comment XD

1jz and rb25 powered cars all everywhere here in Okinawa
I love your videos. Keep it up 👍 🔥
Thanks, if you want to help us out please share the video url on social media!
Was expecting a drift battle 🙄
Awesome video, love the JZ, im a big fan of my 2jz
🔥🔥🔥 sick shit...I'd probably take the Laurel but both good.
Not only Supra was powered with 2jz-gte, but also Toyota ARISTO (4 door sedan)was with 2jz-gte. And that car is sickkk
It should be mentioned the c35 laurel has a shorter final drive (4.30) because it came auto from factory and was geared to suit that auto trans. With a 5speed swap in the laurel in 5th gear around 3000rpm you're going 100kph(60mph). So the gearing is great for acceleration, not top speed.
Also how much more affordable the laurel is cause the rwd models have s14/s15 suspension (huge aftermarket in comparison to the toyota) and the drivetrain is the same as a r34.
Also Oem nissan parts are far cheaper and easier to obtain than toyota.
4.3 was earlier models, c35 club s 2.5 is uaually 4.08
Always loved jzx / chasers but that laurel tho 👌👌👌
What's going on here with the is really great. I wish we could have saved all the marketing logos, ads ect. For every model of vehicle including dummy versions of the old build your own from 2001 to now, it's a shame some of that stuff won't be recorded but at least we have informative channels like this.
Good important info on the rev hang for a drivers car, came to me as a surprise. As the automatic cars don't seem to have it as the manuals for emission, you could win converting a chaser automatics i guess (or just get a new ECU).
Laurel wins in this but might suffer under the higher powerband because it had the ECU tuned for the automatic and to save the gearbox from higher torque stress. The automatic Chasers could have this too soo that's a thing to consider when buying for a cheaper price to convert.
I've never clicked faster on a video. Laurel =
We have alot of drift c33 in the Caribbean (Trinidad) . My music teacher 2jz swapped his own
@@brandondeosingh3757 jz, rb sr in everything In Trinidad 😂😂
that hanging can be fixed. its more than likely a vacuum leak. my swapped is300 had the same issue.
the laurel kinda looks like a q45 from the back, but totally different power plant. The chaser looks a little more active tho, sucks niether of these were available in the states lol, Id love have been able to get one used
I'm also gonna have to say there's a slight issue with the Chaser regarding the Rev hang. My completely factory 97 Jzx100 with an original R154(non swapped) has no Rev hang at all.
Maybe this Chaser was an auto>5spd swap or like others mentioned a vacuum leak.
1jz all the way up!!!! that laurel is nice too
Could have simply compared the R34 Skyline Sedan, comes stock RB25det and manual? Do love the look of the Laurel though. All round love them all.
I do think the Chaser looks better, but I do love the RB engines. Even with all their flaws.
We have a lot of Laurels (C32-C35) and Cefiro A31 in Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹
In terms of Chasers, there are more jzx90's than 100 but we're spoiled for choice on the older Cressidas such as RX30, RX70 etc
Prime JDM cars that are exclusive to certain countries 👌🏼
could not have said it better brother i have a cressida rx70
So they both have R154 boxes but one has longer gearing? Do you know what the Laurel's box came out of? Awesome content as always man!!
The laurels box isn't a r154 that would either be a z32 box or a skyline box

1jz alllllll day buddy. Im partial, having my own Chaser, but fot me it came down to reliability. I was literally talked out of buying a gtt r33/r34 by roughly owners.🤷🏽♂️
So 1jz tank alllll day 💪🏽.
Bussin like a AK brrrrrrrrrrrap
The Chaser sounds awesome! This Laurel is a bit of a letdown soundwise
Can y'all shoot a JZX110?
ugh where are the VQ jet tags lol
I love 1jz ❤💓💓
Factory Carbon fiber peices in the jzx100 chaser.. not fake lol
no drift battle?
I hate our 25 year rule. Canada has way better cars. Awesome video as always
wow those cars are fucking thrashed, wouldnt be caught dead in those
C35 vs chaser 👍👍
Nice Nissan yanny
do you own that chaser or laurel
RB ❤👌
Where am from here in trinidad nissan laurels are very common cars c32 ,c33,c34 and c35's
OK..
Ayeee. Trini brother lol
Lol
Bradley with the sr20 bluebird? 👀
No i doh have no sr birdy ... i is ah rb guy like muh sr eh but rb 4 now
Stock turbo with the long intercooler piping on the laurel won't be helping
You said r154 with the rb25. That cant be right.
I noticed that as well. R154 is in the Chaser.
and said the gearing was different in the two cars...
All that tlk about bathing and no one bothered to wash the C35 🥴
I don't think that RB25DET Neo is setup properly, very large intercooler long piping will cause that torque and boost to come in much later.
Nismo 4 life... Toyota is forever the arch nemesis
Toyota Chaser for sure. I have a Lexus is 300 so that make me bias to the Chaser.
u faka.. I like join the club now lol.. I have a imported a80 mind you buttt ohh I'm loving nissan in 5 years or less.. U bought a chaser haha?
1jz is not a 'step down', it just 'came first'.. The rb25 is kinda just worse in every way , not only over the 26 but the 1jz as well.
Do RB25 vs 2jz vs LS vs sr20 next please
Only retards would ask for that comparison.
With the revs staying up on the chaser I would say it’s sucking in air somewhere,1jz vs rb25 there is no comparison the jz is nearly twice as good as engine as the rb weather its more oil ways to thicker cyclinder walls and metal density the jzx is the engine of choice for tuning. Also the chaser in my opinion looks better I personally hate wood interior trims to old man like where the chaser came with carbon effect. 👍
yeah no 1j vvt's have thrown rods at all
MARK 2 JZX90 R 154!!
I have a chaser in BC. i love it @e36king
1:40 if you don't want to watch another dollar shave club advert. Yall still get paid, right?
Yes, he is... They only care about the views. UA-cam ad we still had to let it run but you can just mute the sound while working on other tab. It cost money and time to shoot all this video.
@@campkira excellent.
I wish the United States got more Japanese rear wheel drive sedans. I'm so tired of everything under $45k being fwd or at best awd. How does anyone expect to learn to drive properly before getting their first high powered sports car when the only cheap options being fwd econo boxes.
Most of mine is import JDM. But you can just go for higher price showroom.
@@campkira I'm talking about the difficulty to find a good, reliable, rwd sedan in the USA for around 30k new, or the price of a camry/accord/altima/fusiom/malibu. Doesn't need to be powerful, just rwd with a fun transmission and a solid motor that preferably revs.
Ok
I'd put the 1jz in the Laurel lol
An older non vvti 1jz would be a much better comparison. Full torque at 2400rpm is a world of a difference vs 4800rpm.
I own one and that's not true, they're pretty lethargic in the low rpms especially twin turbo models
@@Yabas00 that's what I meant. The vvti single turbo 97+ 1jz has torque at the low end the older non vvti twin turbo 1jz is pretty gutless until your up in the rpms.
You are a big fan rb anyone know that!!, but to compare a car with stock seats with a car with a recaro seat don't make any sense this comparison bit anyway Toyota makes the beast engines all the people know that all good man
Time to review something 7M powered :)
Nissan yanny?
Check out MOTIVE VIDEO and their PLATINUM RACING VIDEOS , you can get a full comparison, including block hardness and bore thickness.
feels like this guy doesnt know jack about what hes talking about
chaser carbon is real, its just yellow clear.
I could drift in my little 305 sbc pure horsepower 4 barrel v8 4speed 1985 Monte carlo personal luxury sports car, though my car is my daily driver 9 second car here in hope then a drifter. Sick to have local cars in bc Canada! Blow the door off both em
Entry level if they weren't 20k.
is that USD$? they definitely don't cost that much if you import from japan (which USA ppl can't do yet legally i know)
@@socalguy829 that's CAD. There both for sale right now on craigslist. 21000 for the Toyota or 18000 for the nissan. Price will sky rocket for sure at least on the more desired Toyota when you guys can get them
Stock boost control on the RBs are shit btw, goes from 7 to 9psi
The laurel c33 is such a better car then the c35
No it isn't, you might prefer the looks but actually it's worse in every way if you wanna go there
But now the laurel is much cheaper then the chaser so 🤷♂️
Definitely worth it to manual swap a Laurel now more than ever. Especially if the intention is to drift. Yes 100%
@@RoadsUntraveled si mi amigo
Chaser interior shits on the laurel
not on a club s it doesn't
Fifth
U got one thing wrong. The RB always sounds better
Toyota > Nissan. Period.
Chaser is one of my dream cars
Tell that shit youre talking to Mc Laren cars. They used a Nissan engine as a base for all the V8 engines in every Mc Laren car. Jalopnik did a article on it a few years ago. Check thoer website if youre still confused.
Then. Nissan simply has way more sucess in motorsport than toyota ever will. But I would think even you would know that if you read up on JDM motorsport.
Conrad Sealy wrong. Toyota has more success and Toyota is involved In more Motorsport and racing then Nissan. Period
@@Toyota4Life you couldnt be more wrong if you tried. Excatly how many championships does toyota have in the JGTC series?
Conrad Sealy Toyota takes part in Nascar. Rally. Truck baja racing. Even Lexus take parts in tons or racing events. Combine Toyota and Lexus Motorsport Nissan doesn’t stand a chance. Nice try to defend Nissan but it was never gonna work.
Dirtiest cars ever!
