- The Talking Tom games are some of the most popular pet care games to ever exist. But some believe that under the happy and bright exterior lies a dark secret... Today I'm going over the story of Talking Angela to see if there's anything we can take away from this situation. I use the narrative format of an epidemic and how it spreads to convey the message of misinformation.

I remember when even my older sister was concerned about this. Obviously all of this was false, and even on the school bus students were concerned about having Angela kidnap them.

Imagine these kids are so scared of Angela and then suddenly a giant white cat comes out of the forest and hijacks the bus.
Although Talking Angela was meant for a mature audience, I remember when I played this as a kid and I got super uncomfortable with all the questions she would ask me. At the time, my siblings would tell me to delete the app because they thought it was weird too.
Not to mention the rumors that were spread at the time, made me even more terrified.
But looking back at it now, it all just seems ludicrous.
And people at the time, including myself, barely had a grasp of how technology worked.

Fun fact: In an old version of talking Angela, you can get her to swear. Just type in "who is an idiot" and she will say a random, seemingly made up swear.

This video brought me back to my middle-high school period when I was researching about the illuminati stuff like crazy on the internet. "OMG this game controls children, they will take over the whole world" and "Katy Perry closes one eye in her music video, the end of the world has come"
I kinda miss that time, it was stupidly dumb but at the same time all of society back then was kind of like that, the internet overall was less serious and was just for having fun or looking at interesting things. Maybe it’s nostalgia since as a kid you stay in your own bubble, not knowing a lot about the outside world and the horrors that brings. This is probably how people in small villages or tribal communities feel like their whole lives, they don’t know much about the rest of the world, but maybe that’s a good thing sometimes.

I remember being freaked out completely by my younger cousin when I was 8, she convinced me people were actually kidnapped and thrown off of elevators and stuff, and while I didn't really believe it at first, I still didn't touch the app for nearly a year after that lol. I was pretty mad at her for that.

My friend made up a whole story where a killer is loose in my hometown out of all places, where he has a hideout in the sewers and when the police try to get him out of there he throws a beheaded womans head every time... It took a long time for me to realize it was fake with that trauma lol

when i was a kid and the rumors started coming out about her, i was DEFENDING her 😭 i guess i was just a smart kid and didn't fall for that (my parents didn't either) but mostly i just didn't want to delete the only app where i could swear at and bully a talking cat

I still remember believing these back in fifth grade. I was terribly afraid of Talking Angela after my friend told me about the spying thing, but my mom calmed me down and debunked it easily.
I had someone in my 3rd grade class who was attracted to talking angela and he actually was pissed when they removed the chat bot system.
Im still friends with that guy today and he laughs about that to this day

I remember playing Talking Angela all the time back in 2014-2016. I was only 6-8 years old so I didn't know about the whole controversy surrounding the chat feature. So when it got removed I was utterly confused

However, if you look directly at a black screen, it's kind of obvious that the accusations about talking Angela are false.
this just made me realize that a game like talking angelica could be made, but WAY more accurate with current AI technology.

@@Naharu. It’s the parent’s fault tho since this game was targeted towards mature people but some children decided to play this game not knowing the consequences. I grew up loving most of these games and really it’s the parent’s fault, and also the children’s fault because they didn’t know the consequences and affect to one’s brain. At least the app targeted it for mature people and not some stupid degenerate kids going on the computer ,just think of it like five year olds on a very bad discord server it’s not the app’s fault if they “targeted” the wrong audience
It's all the parents fault for not monitoring thier kids internet access. But no,instead they will blame what ever thing that exists.false or not. While not realising the solution is just to monitor what thier child is doing.

ahhhhh... This sure brings back memories. I remember as a kid accidently messing around with the chat feature with child mode off and got really scared and uncomfy when things started getting out of hand 😅😅. I still believe that those rumors at the time were really absurd and were really overdramatic which btw made me even more scared to play so i had to uninstall it temorarily.
i LOVED Talking Angela as a kid. i never believed the hoax stuff, and got really sad when they completely removed the chat feature lol. i guess i was quite young so i'm not sure if she actually said weird things, but really, all i remember is gossiping with her about her paris life, friend advice, giving her the weird drinks and talking about her love life with Tom. My mom would laugh with me when we typed in something weird and Angela would get mad LMAOOOO. and i loved the song that was included in the app, i think it's called "You Get Me." i remember thinking it was the cutest thing ever LOLOLOL

Believe it or not, Angela is my actual first (friend) when I was a kid, the best and most memorable thing I remembered talking to her was about how she also loves Cookies n' Cream.

From what I remembered, Talking Angela didn’t HAVE a chat bot when I had played with it (BEFORE 2016 BTW). I never remembered being able to chat with Talking Angela with a chat bot. I remember being able to talk with her using messages like how it is now.
I was like 4-6 at the time, but I distinctly remember never being able to chat with her in any way, except with a set of preprogrammed responses.

Being someone that was there, people were saying some dumb thing about how talking Angela was looking at you through her eyes and stuff lol and it actually had me like a bit concerned as a younger child.
This whole epidemics barely touched me when I was 12 or so years old. I've heard this from a friend of mine and the only reaction I had was "what the hell is this nonsense?"

Talking Tom was so popular in my country back in the days that one of our national TV channels (that is famous for broadcasting news in a humorous way for some reason) would use it for their news broadcast 🤣 Like instead of a person talking, it was just Tom giving the news in lingala (one of our national languages), I guess to attract the attention of both adults and children

Today I learned that the Talking Tom series has a download count higher than double the population of the entire world!
I remember telling my grandma the old men watching through the camera story. So she would delete the app and my little sister would have to stop playing it.
I remember my family telling me not to download the Talking Angela app and I was devastated as I was in that point in my life where I loved Talking Tom

Boy does this bring back memories. I was definitely a Talking Tom fanatic during a time when I was a kid. I had a lot of these apps including Talking Angela. I remember spending hours of my day talking to Angela. Telling stories, singing songs and just messing around. It really felt like I was talking to an actual friend and I loved it! A while or so later I talk to my friends about the app(s) and one of them told me about the whole hacker-behind-the-eyes thing. Looking back now the whole thing seems silly but back then I believed it, and I was terrified! I was legit scared that some maniac was going to come after me and kill me! Keep in mind that I did reveal quite a bit about myself aside from my home address to Angela at this point. So I deleted every Talking Tom app that I had and haven’t touched them since.

I will never forget when I discovered this as a 10 year old. I was sitting on the ground with my back to the living room couch on which my mom was sleeping. It was late and I was browsing the internet, until I somehow came across this topic. When I got more into the rabbit hole I heard something that I thought to be a knock on the window. It could've been just the window doing the random cracking that stuff like water bottles do, who knows, but it wasn't a 100% clear knock to the window. I had windows above the couch, which was behind me, and one right infront of me in another room. I remember this my parents told me to stay off talking tom like apps as they were potentially spying on its users. I found it creepy and never played one again dismissing the whole series even to today. Now I know in hindsight it would be impossible to hack unless the developers themselves were using the program to spy on kids.

I never fell for the rumors cause while I never knew of the chat feature at the time, I can mostly certainly tell you that there was nothing in the eyes and people who claim to see something in the eyes are most likely hallucinating or seeing things. People can hallucinate or just straight up see things that aren't there (I'm pretty sure that's both hallucination) as for the chat bot, I can accept the removal even though I never experienced the chat bot myself, the person or whatever being in the eyes is absolutely BS cause I checked the eyes and woah surprise! There was nothing.

I remember watching a kid play this on their mom’s phone and the parent grabbed the device from the kid and screamed at her for talking to a “p*do”
I remember myself trying to zoom in her eyes to see the creepy man, taking screenshots or shoving the tablet against my face. Even though I was 10 I admittedly had a fairly logical understanding of technology so despite my mother's concerns I didn't really buy the said theories all that much. Of course I should point out that I'm European and managed to learn English fluently at a very old age, so my conversations with Angela were either gibberish English, or I'd speak in my language with my bro and my cousins having fun with her responses, specifically how she couldn't understand a thing. It never got to the point of weirdly romantic convos such as the ones shown in the video, though I'm sure had I seen such thing happening it'd certainly have been caught off guard
