    I have a mk1 and a mk2 scorpion pistols , stripped them both down and serviced them fitted a steel piston head as the plastic ones tend to expand with age, new spring, buffer washer, piston o ring and breech seal. The .22 is doing 5.9 ftlbs with a wasp pellet and i`m getting 5.4 ftlbs from the .177 mk2. Had them both re blued by Colin Molloy brilliant pistols i,d say the most powerful available in the uk. A common fault with these pistols is the long sear hammer breaking and this part is no longer available managed to get mine welded, also if you use a thinner buffer washer around 2mm thinner you get around .2 ftlbs more power. Rebuilt loads of these pistols so if anyone is struggling i`d be happy to give any advice or do the re build myself most parts are available

    Just a note ref the spring seating washer. This goes on after the circlip. The inner diameter is larger than that of the piston shaft so it covers the circlip. Sort of help the circlip stay in place and stops the spring touching it.

I’m working towards my century and should have it in the next month and now average over 15 mph on longer 50 mile rides. You were correct improvement comes with time. Still riding solo. Any advice welcome as regards the century. If you reverse your weight you have mine 😆. Trying to ride 4 times per week. Weekends and Wednesday’s off. If you get out now cake café stops are not an option so the extra lbs will melt away like a Cadbury’s choc bar in the sun.

      @MrDazP1adv3ntures  4 роки тому

      15mph ain't too shabby at all. Keep building up your endurance ability and listen to what your body is telling you. May be look at a 75 mile ride and then back to a few 40 milers. It looks like a 100 mile ride with a few rest breaks would be around the 8 n' half hour mark. I would also look after your contact points in the saddle area the more your ride for longer periods. It can be the baine of many cyclists so a good chamious cream is essential.
      I think you will know when you are ready. I would plan a route with a tail wind for the return leg too.

      @@MrDazP1adv3ntures In UK, individual sites limit the joule (energy) to about 1.1 for AEG's which equates to 350 feet per second (FPS) using .2 BBs. >2 BBs tend to not be accurate and most players will use .25 BBs or heavier to get that extra range and accuracy or grouping. Certain gun manufacturers work better with that joule power and a leading 1 would be Tokyo Marui but it does come with a price tag. Most people will start with a lower budget and twiddle and fiddle with parts, upgrade bits and add PTFE to create better seals to gain FPS to meet limits and also to improve accuracy. BBs are bought usually in bottles or bags of about 3000 which may last a day or 2 and come in weights such as .2, .25, .28 etc. Some brands are better than others.

      @@DEmma1972 It's interesting to look at caliber choice because with air rifles the .177 has a flatter curve on the trajectory so in the mid zone of its flight , say 20 - 35m it's relatively flat. A .22 has a more pronounced drop down range and is a bit heavier in weight which carries a bigger punch. Another lesser used caliber is .20 and also .25
      >20 is a good in between caliber but as with most conventions the old .177 & .22 are well and truly established.

    Great video, it gave me the skills to dismantle my ancient, seized Scorpion. I’ve received all the replacement parts but I cannot get that damned circlip off the piston head. Bought a new set of picks but I can’t get any kind of movement from it. Any suggestions welcome, otherwise I’ll have to saw off the piston head and replace that too.

      Hi Mike, it will go with a bit of brute force and you might even think that it's not a split spring clip because you can't see the section where the two ends meet. I needed good light and some glasses to sharpen up what I was looking at and then tried to twist it to form a kind of helix or spiralled action up on the shaft. It did go in the end and was slightly deformed but it was good enough to be tapped back into shape afterwards and re used

      MrDazP1 thanks Daz. I bought a replacement circlip so I know the split is tiny. So far I’ve bent the tips of two picks. May need to buy better quality ones.

      @@mikefranks816 A nice little flat bladed screw driver might help to prise the opening apart, or you could try to use a punch and tap the centre piece of the piston through to see if it dislodges the retaining ring. It sometimes helps to walk away and have a brew too.

      MrDazP1 brute force it was - hammer and a small chisel. Now for the rebuild. Thanks for the advice

      @@mikefranks816 Great news Mike. If the trigger mechanism is working then leave best alone though.
