If you really wanna to save the Rathalos , then don’t go wearing their skins but if you just wear it. Then you’ll be more as a Hunter than being as a Rider. But this game as it is then it is actually , talking more about The Path of a Hunter. But if ya really wanna save the Rathalos then , I’d strongly suggest that you get out of the skin , of the Rathalos and get into being more of a part of a Hunter. Unless if you really mean it for saving the Rathalos , if ya do mean that with all of your own heart. Then be more as a Rider than a Hunter.

I absolutely adored the demo of this and immediately bought it once i completed the demo. The gameplay is great and I loved the dialog. It was purrrfect.

Farming for eggs, for genes, the materials to max out armor and weapon sets. The first Stories was great, but this one is SO much better at recreating the feel of MH.
Definitely picking this one up. One thing I did not like when playing the demo though, were the camera controls. When rotating the camera around, there was basically no analog control. Push the stick just barely in either direction and the camera starts moving slowly then at full speed. I don’t know how something as simple as this was overlooked.

Wasn't sure about this one as I never played the first game and I still have a ton left to do in Rise, but the Demo sold me completely on this. It is so much fun and having an actual story set in the MH universe is just incredible. If you watched the review and still aren't certain, I definitely say give the demo a try.
I can’t wait for this one! I completed all the side quests for the demo and it extended my time with it,……that and I think I suffer from a form of OCD where I MUST complete all side quests 😭 the struggle is real
This series is my favorite. Genuinely I love this and the first game so much. I know they’re not as hardcore as the mainline games, but playing these helped me better understand the mainline games. But personally, I enjoy these way more. I consistently go back to MHS on my 3DS. These 3 games are just everything I like in a game. They really appeal to me and I’m hoping they continue it, even if it’ll never get the love the mainline games do. I wish I could play these games again for the first time. Sorry, did you just say you don’t like side quests?! Lmao. What? I think that maybe this just isn’t the game for you. I love side quests and I’ll do them all before the main ones. Big fan of monster Hunter and the hours put in this game is crazy, the detail in the review was so detailed for just 13 minutes compared to IGN nip picking and comparing the 1st instalment to this one. Great work guys on the review. Definitely picking this one up.

I picked it up since it went up for preorder on the Eshop. I played the demo a bit and being new to the franchise it's a bit hard to get into but because I enjoy playing JRPGs I'm hoping for things to pick when I continue playing.
A note on when you loot eggs from nest, you get the option to search the nest a few times if your told the egg you found is low ranked. In the first game this was done through your cat/friend who traveled with you, not sure if its the same in this one but i suspect it is. As i was more interested in the Ys game so I've not played the demo that much. It seems from the video this has carried over, if you choose you can search the next again in hopes of getting a better egg. In the first game the eggs shell also told you what monster was in the egg, something i suspect will carry over in this game as well. After a few weeks people had charts up that would help with this. As for the protagonist not speaking and the cat doing it for you? That was in the first game as well. And if i recall he was pretty annoying in that one too. All in all i will be picking this one up, after I've finished the Ys game or get more money. This month has been evil for my already limited funds...
I never got into monster hunter. Now it is a full rpg with LVs and XP ,and also turn base,I am a fan of this style,I always wanted true rpg elements and now I have my dream rpg. We have to be happy with what we get now aday from capcom with game like this because it is the closest to a breath of fire game.
Great review! This game to me is kind of on the edge between looking boring, and looking fun. You’re making me want to pick back up the demo! I thought I saw a breath of the wild clip there for a second lol. Sadly when playing the demo, I wasn’t very happy with the performance, or the graphics. It really seemed like they could do a lot better. Especially coming out of a cut scene. Movement just seemed really choppy but I think I’ll have to try it out again.
I got the one collectors edition at my GameStop ready to go! Almost 200 hours in the first stories game already made this choice a no brainer. I hope you all enjoy it if you’re picking it up

"Monstie" by the way is a play on words for the word "Bestie" which is short for "Best Friend". I remembered back when MHSt1 came out in 2017 the localization team explained why they used "Monstie" at the time. It kinda made sense.

I'm excited for this one and will try the demo this week. I will probably get this eventually. I just only very rarely buy $60 games as I don't have much entertainment money to go around. This one seems like a good value, though.
Definitely getting this day 1. Enjoyed the demo. My 4 year old son loved it too. This is the best Pokemon non pokemon game I have played. Long time pokemon fan but unlike type effectiveness which is absolutely insane in Pokemon. The rock paper scissors battle system isnt so over powered like Pokemon. This game is actually a challenge as well Pokemon is way too easy. Use fire types vs grass gym, zero challenge. I think they game isn't getting the hype it deserves.
Never played the first one and wasn’t much interested in the sequel but I must admit the demo completely hooked me up ! The battles made me fall in love with the game and I ordered it the day after I first try it. Can’t wait to play it more on Friday ! Like always great review guys !

I definitely am excited for this game. It's not major but I don't like how combat doesn't reflect where you actually aim at on the monster and I hate that the tails don't really come off when broken either.
The no music while exploring the world is a deal breaker for me personally. It works really well for the main series and helps build tension before the big fight with the monster youre after, but in a turn based RPG, it’s inexcusable
Hmm, I wasn't aware of that. That really is kind of a big deal to me as well. I can't think of any RPG I've played that didn't have at least an overworld theme.

This game was a sleeper on the 3DS when it was released seeing as it came out toward the tail-end of that console's life. However, this was my most anticipated game for the Switch this year until I heard there's a PC version 😮
Good review, this is my most waited game of the year as the first one is my favourite game of all the 3DS games I had. The demo already gave me many hours of fun.
Definitely picking it up and have enjoyed what little of the demo I had time to play. Basically, put the MH label on it and I'm pretty much a sucker to buy at this point, but glad to hear the game holds up!
looks like they have built upon MHS1 a lot which is good to see, especially in the story. i might be misremembering but i remember there being basically the barest of bones of story in the first game. still hard to justify the $80 price tag for me but I'll probably pick it up on sale if i can in the future.

You convinced me. It's on my list. Also, perhaps because my rpg genesis was late ps1-ps2 era games, repetitive voice acting feels like par for the course. As does a little bit (or a lot of) grind.
Did you play this in English though? I think Naviru's character comes across a lot better if you choose Japanese and just have the subtitles. This goes actually for all characters. But maybe that's just me 🙂

I hate it when games don't let your main character speak, it just makes no sense for them to be mute while everyone else chatters on. At least Link has 'implied' dialogue where an NPC asks him a question and then responds to what he 'said'. This game should at least do that, damn haha.

just wanted to mention for you guys that Navirou being annoying is mostly a localisation issue. the japanese VA has more tasteful lines and delivery.

I found myself just using L to re align my camera
This annoyed me too. But there's an option in the settings to toggle camera follow. That should turn off the auto adjusting
Yeah I know what you mean. Also with the character movement. You either walk slow as ass or fast as sh*t. No transition in between.

It certainly looks more stable in the review than it does in the demo.

Never played the first one and wasn’t much interested in the sequel but I must admit the demo completely hooked me up ! The battles made me fall in love with the game and I ordered it the day after I first try it. Can’t wait to play it more on Friday ! Like always great review guys !

I never really cared for monster hunter but when I heard this game is a turn based rpg I downloaded the demo and was hooked! The best way to describe this game is monster hunter for people love jrpgs but hate monster hunter.
Monster Hunter World is insanely good though. Stories 2 is almost as good so far at least :)
I definitely am excited for this game. It's not major but I don't like how combat doesn't reflect where you actually aim at on the monster and I hate that the tails don't really come off when broken either.

I was slightly put off by the price originally but the demo was brilliant and I really can't wait to continue playing!
The no music while exploring the world is a deal breaker for me personally. It works really well for the main series and helps build tension before the big fight with the monster youre after, but in a turn based RPG, it’s inexcusable
Hmm, I wasn't aware of that. That really is kind of a big deal to me as well. I can't think of any RPG I've played that didn't have at least an overworld theme.
@@knivesoutcatchdamouse2137 best bet is to check out gameplay people have posted up. I totally get it. It’s a monster hunter aesthetic, but I just cant for a turn based RPG. It was one of the biggest flaws of Oninaki too, but reviewers are giving it a pass for some reason. I absolutely love MHR, btw, so I’m not some MH hater
86% nice! I dont dig monster hunter games but this looks like the perfect entry for me
This game was a sleeper on the 3DS when it was released seeing as it came out toward the tail-end of that console's life. However, this was my most anticipated game for the Switch this year until I heard there's a PC version 😮
Good review, this is my most waited game of the year as the first one is my favourite game of all the 3DS games I had. The demo already gave me many hours of fun.
Definitely picking it up and have enjoyed what little of the demo I had time to play.
Basically, put the MH label on it and I'm pretty much a sucker to buy at this point, but glad to hear the game holds up!
looks like they have built upon MHS1 a lot which is good to see, especially in the story. i might be misremembering but i remember there being basically the barest of bones of story in the first game. still hard to justify the $80 price tag for me but I'll probably pick it up on sale if i can in the future.

That red egg looks straight out a Digimon. Oh and I'm absolutely getting this game. The demo was a blast and builds upon the first game in every positive way possible.

Also, perhaps because my rpg genesis was late ps1-ps2 era games, repetitive voice acting feels like par for the course. As does a little bit (or a lot of) grind.
Maybe that's why I loved FFXII so much :P

Did you play this in English though? I think Naviru's character comes across a lot better if you choose Japanese and just have the subtitles. This goes actually for all characters. But maybe that's just me 🙂
Mark, first of all thank you for the vid. Can i ask a favor ? Is it possible when you review japanese games to note WHAT kind of audio the version you played has available ? For example this game Monster Hunter Stories 2, does it have both English and Japanese voices ? Only Japanese ? Only English ? Also, i suppose you played the digital version but do you know if the physical will indeed require a download or if everything is on the cartridge ? Thanks again.
I hate it when games don't let your main character speak, it just makes no sense for them to be mute while everyone else chatters on. At least Link has 'implied' dialogue where an NPC asks him a question and then responds to what he 'said'. This game should at least do that, damn haha.
