But it works :) Some cats also vomit early in the morning because they haven't eaten in a while. The acid builds up in their stomach, causing irritation. I had a cat which I gave a small snack before going to bed.
A cat is not supposed to vomit up their hair most of the time, so a catfriendly plant (like catgrass or catnip) or more brushing might also help.

I used to wake my son up in the mornings; I would speak gently and greet him with a hug- kind affirmations. Now that he is in middle school, he uses the alarm on his phone. There is a noticeable difference with how he handles the morning. This video is my sign to restart the habit. The world is a terrible place, so I might as well gently speak life into him in the mornings.
EDIT: You guys do realize that I don't intend on doing this forever, right? Children will grow up, please don't make this weird lol.

Please don’t think of the world being a terrible place. Also never ever pass negative ideas about the world to your children (just incase you do)! How people perceive the world is an individual thing but the more positively we view the world, the more positively our children will react to life (at least i hope it works like this)!

The point here is, we have all met & will meet “cruel enemies” regardless of our age…so children should learn about dragons before they meet them & learn about brave knights and heroic courage so they can be the brave knight with heroic courage…it’s not “don’t paint the world as a dark place”, it’s “paint the world as a dark place with lots of lights fighting back against the darkness. Teach them that we (the parents) are battling the darkness on their behalf until they are old enough to pick up a sword themselves…and then teach them that we can all fight together & be havens of safety & comfort to one another…teach them that the world isn’t light, but that it can be lightened.”

I went from an alarm that scared me awake to one that gradually got louder and playing a melodic tune. That was great but I needed more. I found a cheap sunrise clock to try out.
Long story short, I'm on my third sunrise clock. My second was for light quality. Unfortunately that one stopped working in less than a year so I had to replace it. I need to change the sound on my current one. My last one used birdsong and it was fantastic.
I have blinds on my bedroom windows, no curtains, on purpose, and even with that light coming in, the sunrise alarm helps.
I do still hit the snooze but rarely more than once. Significant improvement over hitting it eight or nine times.

Sleep inertia has been a real problem for me for the last few years. My circadian rhythm is based on sunrise. My previous employer allowed me to set my own schedule, so I could arrive at 9 am and leave at 6 (with the bonus of missing rush hour traffic). My current supervisor, a university professor, insists all employees arrive at 8 am so younger employees will show up on time 🤔.
A cup of coffee no longer helps. If I wake up with sleep inertia, 80% of the time I will have a less productive day at work. Changed my alarm to music. Putting my phone out of reach so I can't hit snooze. Thanks for the tips.

I have very bad sleep inertia. It lasts 2 hours, and waking up with an alarm is a joke for me. I am barely conscious, so I turn it off and go to sleep. If I wake up on my own I feel very nearly paralyzed and cannot so much as sit up. I have never tried gentle nature sounds that gradually get louder, however, so I am going to try that tip. I think birds will be good for me; bird chirps just scream morning time in my mind.

I need to sleep until 9:30 or 10 to actually be able to handle the world but my job forces me to wake up at 8:15 which basically means that I am forcing my body day after day and this greatly affects my mental and physical health

At least two hours for me… I feel like my brain has turned into a rock. I can think but it’s painful, I can use the bathroom if needed, but I CANNOT get moving. I’ve had this on and off all my life. My school reports show I missed up to 30 days a term, because I could not wake up. I thought I’d finally found a cause, diagnosed with hypothyroidism, low Vitamin D and iron, but I have been faithfully taking my meds, and about a month ago it started again after a break of a few years. It’s absolutely distressing and devastating. The guilt I feel being unable to do anything worthwhile for at least two hours is sickening. I take stimulants for ADHD, and the first dose doesn’t even touch me. I’ve tried light, music, and moving around makes me so much more distressed because my brain fights me even more. I can’t plan for anything, and should be looking for a job, but there is no way I can even think about that right now. I hope someone comes up with a solution, other than caffeine.

I never know how I'm going to feel in the morning and I wish I found a pattern...
    1. 7-9h sleep: feeling fine, or awful
    2. Reading: falling asleep fast or insomnia
    3. Listening to soothing things, watching tv series, gaming: no morning inertia or lots of it
    4. Browsing social media or online shops: usually sleeping fine (but I don't do that often because it's a waste of time)
    5. 4-6h sleep: sometimes waking before the alarm and feeling great, other times sleeping till noon and feeling awful
    6. Getting out of bed with no sleep inertia (yay!): feeling fine for 1h and then falling asleep on the spot
    7. Exercising: good sleep or bad sleep (time of exercise apparently doesn't matter)
    8. Aromatherapy: similarly random results
    9. Eating just before sleep: usually I fall asleep fast and feel refreshed, but not always
    10. Going for early morning walk in the sun: sometimes getting home and... going to sleep 😅
    11. Oh! And soothing alarm doesn't work either;) Sometimes I don't even hear it.
Is there anything else I haven't tried?

So, my dad singing loudly in the morning to wake us up for school wasn't just to mess with us 🤔 😆.
Also, I remember my college roommate complaining about me staying in bed until 9 a.m. because I was "sleeping half the day away." What she didn't get was I purposely scheduled my classes and work for later in the day because I'm not a morning person. However, I'm a light sleeper, so her hitting her snooze every 10-30 minutes between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. daily didn't help.

Funny, I always get up 75 minutes before going to work. I just noticed that some days I get up out of bed immediatly, and other days it takes me 15minutes to drag myself out of bed.
Also how about those times that I wake up 15minutes before my alarm? That also happens alot.
Still... I need my alarm to be annoying, so I have to move to turn it off. If it's not annoying i'll probably fall asleep to it. Though I have considered of making the Pillarmen music form JoJo's bizarre adventure my alarm. The title of the song is Awaken. ;)

Hey DrTraceyMarks, there's a issue that I have that you probably haven't made a video before. Apparently, I have a strong desire of wanting to experience mental suffering, even though I wish I didn't. I have searched about this online and it said that this is some kind of masochist behaviour or whatever. For example, I used to have undiagnosed POCD, but when I got anxiety from it, I started to enjoy it...? And all of a sudden, it doesn't get me anymore, same with ruminating thoughts, I used to have it but after I started liking it, my thoughts don't ruminate anymore. What is happening?!

I have found that holding my breath like I’m constipated briefly and spiking my adrenaline make it nearly instant. Adrenaline spikes are what cause you to wake from REM. It takes the body hours to recover from mid-rem wake-up without adrenaline. that’s why you can wake so fast when scared by a sound or dream. Cold water and caffeine also spike adrenaline. Also if someone else needs me that gets me up fast too. Movement is helpful too. Jumping jacks and pushups.

For me, the best alarm sound currently is Kyne's Peace from Skyrim.
For me, every alarm clock is too harsh. Even the smoothest piano or other sounds and melodies made me jump. On the other hand, bird sounds or other nature sounds made me anxious about missing the alarm entirely (living on the country side, so birds in the morning is quite the usual sound here).
Kyne's Peace is both there soothing AND "unnatural" enough to wake up :)

ADHD also complicated this for me. Routine is impossible with the disorder, and some have proposed that ADHD can be summarized as "sluggish cognitive tempo" because it's so prone to heavy inertia.

I'm now in my late twenties and for the past 10 years I have been battling with OCD and gut health issues like gerd, gastritis, IBS etc. I began to develop these changes when I was 16 or so and from that time onwards they are with me like my shadow.
But before diagnosing this OCD and gut issues , I was on a course of antibiotics (kaypen, pentids )for about 6 years. At that time I had no gut problems or anxiety symptoms as such. But it all began when I was 16 and half and when I was at that point of time I had to go through a series of very high stressful situations.
My doubt is that since antibiotics can sometimes cause gut problems, in my case the antibiotics I previously had taken would have been the cause of my later OCD and gut issues ?
Or the problems I have been struggling with are the results of the stressful events I had gone through ( happened at the same time I discontinued the antibiotics ) ?

Believe it or not, I actually do ALL of these tips and still my biggest struggle in life is waking up and staying awake in the morning. I also drink plenty of water, and even take vitamins trying to influence the chemicals in my brain that are involved in sleep. My most drastic effort was multiple alarms across my room with yarn stretched across my room, forming a matrix of obstacles I had to overcome each morning. I've searched endlessly on the internet, yet no matter what I implement, gravity is x100 in the morning, and my mind is sedated throughout the day.

Being self-employed has many drawbacks, but one big advantage definately is, that you don't need to wake up at certain times and be in the same place every god damn day. I never set an alarm anymore and my sleep cycle goes round and round. This weei it may be from 10pm to 6am, next week it may be from 10am to 6pm. I go to sleep when I feel for it and let myself wake up naturally. I like being active at night. Sleeping when you really want to and how long you actually need it is a huge freedom.

Soothing alarm sounds make me aggressive in the morning, gradual volume increases are amplifying this. In general any alarm makes me aggressive but the gentler they are the worse it is,m. I believe it's because soothing sounds are supposed to be.. soothing, and not precursors to something horrible, like waking up early. I just feel betrayed. If I don't wake up before the alarm, the day is basically ruined.

My mum wakes me up by yelling... I have anxiety disorder and my already disruptive sleep (because I'm scared of mom getting sick on sleep, slight movement from her and I'm wide awake), my mom yells as if our home is set on fire and usually its when I finally get to sleep deep and nice.... her screams scare the crap out of me and always wake up with a start, throbbing heartbeat with dull ache... rest of the day, I stay agitated and groggy, and these days I get dizzy every time I stand up... My mom doesn't believe in these, but I hope she'll at least be gentler because I once gave her a taste of her own medicine and she got weak
