So, I think I finally figured out Solinco set-ups at least for my game (I'm a 4.5 power baseliner with loopier strokes) ----I just put confidential in my DRs 98+s......WOW!!!!! It pairs perfectly with a flexible racquet. Other premium poly brands just do not have near the playability duration....unless you're willing and able to restring every week or two. I put confidential with 1.5" of lead at 10 & 2 and strung it at 52lbs in my DR98+ and my shots were landing 6 inches from the baseline on routine rally shots. It was awesome to play a few practice sets and pin my opponent back with minimal effort. I found my new set-up!!! (However, If I switch to a stiffer racquet, say RA above 65, I would go back to Hyper G)

Both offer great access to spin, but I find Confidential to feel lower in energy return, or a deader feel as we often say, allowing for big hitters to gain maximum control. It also has a bit better tension maintenance. Solinco Revolution has a bit more energy return and a livelier feel for a co-poly, but not quite as good in tension maintenance over time. Troy, TW

Control, and spin is high, pretty close to RPM Blast. We enjoyed the feel, and pocketing of this one a bit more, and we also found it to hold tension better over time. Neither are really offering much in terms of power, but do allow the player to swing big, and generate a lot of ball speed. @tenniswarehouse , I' recently switched to the EZone 98 Tour ('22), from the RF97, and have been trying to find the right string setup. I have one strung up with Revolution (1.25) , at 53 pounds, and appreciate the easy access to spin. In your opinion, would Confidential (1.20) offer similar access to spin and pop? In this frame, do you think I would find better control with Confidential 1.20 than Revolution (1.25)? If this is a good option, what tension do you recommend?
Confidential offers a lot of control and a pretty consistent response. The 1.20 should help with feel and spin, however if you want more control, the 1.25 being slightly thicker will help with that. Have you tried Hyper-G? That is likely our favorite of the Solinco strings. Troy, TW
@@jasonsucoll9872 probably either the 1.25mm or 1.20mm, depending how much more bite you want to get on the ball. For tension maybe try 52 or 51 and see if it makes a difference. The color combo might be a bit odd, but would solinco confidential work as a hybrid with luxilon 4G? And if a good blend, which would work better in the mains? Thx for any thoughts.
I guess that could work, although we haven't tried it. If you were to, we would likely go Confidential in the mains, as it is shaped, and would give more bite on the ball. Troy, TW
Michelle primarily used the 16 (1.30), but also tried 16L (1.25). I tried all gauges, and really liked the 17 (1.20), as my EZONE 98+ feels like it has a rather dense string spacing. Hey guys, since I started college, I've been kind of out of the loop when it comes to tennis equipment. I need to restring my racquets but I'm not sure which one to go with. For reference, I'm a long-time tour bite user, but I'd be interested to hear your recommendations for which string I should try out in my pure strike 16x19 racquets.
@LroyJenkns, A few of our favorite polys are Solinco Hyper G, Volkl Cyclone and Luxilon ALU Power. Those would all be great to try in your Pure Strike! Michelle, TW
The range for the racquet is 48-57 pounds, however with a poly like Confidential we recommend going towards that low end, somewhere around 48 to 50 pounds. Some players even prefer a lower tension than that. Troy, TW
Diamond rough feels a bit softer, and plays with a bit more power. This one feels a bit more firm, and control oriented. Spin is good with both. Troy, TW
Troy definitely looking in great shape and Michelle looking absolutely FANTASTIC in that foxy black dress. I liked the acting. The new Confidential string sounds ok but I am going to stick to my Alu-Power Spin 16g at 46lbs prestretched 10% on my 3rd gen Pure Strike Tour.
i have a wilson blade v7 16x19 and i have 16L Confidential and i want to know what tension is good for control and i was playing at 58 and my elbow is hurting. what recommend tension would you suggest with control
We would usually string around 52 or 53 pounds with a string like Confidential, in that Blade 98 16x19. So maybe try dropping down a few pounds to about 55 pounds, and see how that goes. Also, Confidential is rather stiff, so you might also consider a bit softer option, maybe Hyper-G, or even better comfort, Hyper-G Soft. If the elbow pain persists, you will likely either need to take a break from tennis, or possibly go with a softer string in general, like a multifilament, as we don't recommend polys strings like Confidential for players with arm pain. Troy, TW
TW....what do you mean by every 2 weeks or so, the strings lose tension and you have to cut the poly out. How many hours of play in total? Thanks in advance. Regards C

This one feels more firm, and control oriented, and it also holds tension a bit better. TB Soft is more comfortable, and feels a bit more lively. Troy, TW
Hi Tennis Warehouse, in terms of power, is it more or less powerful than Tour Bite? I use a Tour Bite 1.25 at 49 pounds in a Babolar Pure Strike 98 16 x 19
Initially, I felt like it was more control oreinted, but as time went on, it definitely felt like I was getting a bit more zip on my shots, than what I recall from Tour Bite. Troy, TW
Hi. Could you please compare it to my top 3 strings : head lynx tour, revolve spin and black code 4s in terms of spin, control/precision/power, playability duration and confort/sensation ? Thanx a lot.
Spin potential is pretty close to those strings, although Tecnifibre 4S maybe is a bit more spin friendly. This one offers a lot of control, similar to 4S and Revolve Spin, Lynx Tour maybe just a bit more lively, and a bit more comfortable. Power is pretty close, but like I mentioned a bit more lively or powerful with the Lynx Tour, that said all of them still a lot of control. Troy, TW

This one is firmer, and offers more control. Revolution offers more power, and feels a bit softer. Spin is pretty comparable, and tension maintenance is better with Confidential. Troy, TW
Hi TW. Thank you for this review. I’m looking for a poly string with good spin, control and playability to pair with vs gut in a hybrid. Gut in mains and poly in crosses. Would you say confidential is a better option than say rpm blast, element or alu power?
Confidential is a great choice for control, spin, and playability duration. ALU Power is a very popular choice, but I personally would pick this confidential over RPM Blast or Element. Not that those are bad choices, but we really enjoyed this Confidential, and how well it held up over time. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse thank you Troy. On the other hand, how does confidential compare to head lynx tour and tecnifibre ice code when it comes to control , spin and playability duration? Dear tennis warehouse Love your videos Im finding hyper G very lively and soft on my yonex vcore pro 97 hd 18x20... Due to which my shots are flying long.... Im used to the firmness of luxilon alu power.... Im looking forward to try confidential or tourbite.... According to you which one will resemble the firmness and control of the alu power?
If you like ALU Power, then Solinco Confidential should be a good match for you. If for some reason you don't like that, then give Tour Bite a try. Troy, TW
We found this one to feel a bit more control, and have a slightly firmer/crisper feel to it. It has somewhat of that firm/crisp feel like ALU Power, but offers more control, like RPM Blast. Troy, TW
Slightly closer to ALU Power in terms of feel, but slightly more control oriented, closer to 4G in that sense. This one is shaped so offers more spin than both, and tension maintenance is better than ALU Power, but not quite as good as 4G. Troy, TW
Hey TW, I am an intermediate tennis player and I’ve been wanting to buy the Yonex (Ezone 98 2017) but I have tryouts in less than a month and I currently use a Pure Strike 98, is it ok to transition 3 weeks out of the tryouts? Are they similar enough as rackets?
The transition wont take too long, but you may have to get used to the yonex isometric headshape. that means higher sweetspot and also it is commonly known that the top of the ezone is a bit jarring, so maybe some lead. Although Im not gonna say tht the transition will be seamless, it shouldn't bee too bad. but until you get used to it stick with the strike.
@@raphael2784, Yeah I pretty much agree with Joah Lee, there will be some adaptation, and a few weeks out from season might be cutting it close, as you will want to have a consistent feel while training. That said they have similar characteristics, and wouldn't be nigh and day different. Troy, TW
Planning on trying this in 18 gauge in the mains on my Prestige touch MP. What multi filament would you recommend that comes in reels and retains tension very well? Thank You.
Forgot to add: like Michelle, I value control above anything else. I hit early, close to the baseline and very flat. Just looking for comfort in a multi without losing much control.
@Eric Estrada, If you are looking for a multi, Tecnifibre Triax might be one to try! We found it to have a bit better control and tension maintenance vs. other multis! Michelle, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Looks interesting. I could try it in full bed first to see if it is durable enough and if it produces enough spin for my taste. Normally I use Alu Power mains and NRG2 cross at 60. Thank you for your advice!
Hello TW.. Thank you for this great review. Could you tell me what is the recommended tension on my RF97? I currently use Hyper-G at 54lbs and so far so good. Appreciate if you can suggest the hybrid string with this as well.. Thank you..
I would likely go with a similar tension for this string, as you do for Hyper-G. This one feels a bit firmer, so maybe try dropping a pound, but it sounds like right around 54 should be good. If we were to hybrid this string, we would likely go with Natural gut for the best performance, or a Multifilament for a cheaper alternative. Babolat Touch Tonic is good choice for natural gut, and Yonex Rexis is a good choice for a multi. Troy, TW
Difference between RPM Team, Confidential, Hyper-G, and Tour bite? Which one is best for Burn 100 team for control and spin, but also lasts long. I play around 3-4 hrs a day everyday and I need a string which will last me a while?
We prefer Hyper-G followed by Confidential. That racquet is somewhat light for a full bed of poly, but if that is what you prefer, then go for it. Troy, TW
Hey TW, I am looking at a new racket. I currently have a pure strike 3rd gen 16x19 and while it is good, I feel that it doesn't have quite the amount of spin that I would like. Rackets I've been looking at is the Pure Aero, Dunlop cx 300, tfight 305 xtc and the Wilson blade 16x19. Do you know which one seems to fit my playstyle the best? I have a very aggressive baseline playstyle.
Well if spin is what you are looking for, I would go with the Pure Aero, or Pure Aero Tour. I might also consider the Yonex VCORE 98, and Prince Textreme Tour 100 310. Troy, TW
Slightly softer with this one. Power/control is pretty similar, but maybe a bit more pop from this one, and a bit more control from Silver 7 Tour. Both have great playability duration for co-polys. Troy, TW
@@BeckettChung, I'm not for certain on that, but I usually string same tension for mains and crosses. There was a time when I used to string about 2 pounds lower on the crosses, but I ended up finding that it didn't make much of a difference for me. Troy, TW
@James Kim, A little less stiff than RPM and I find it holds tension much better! RPM gets "springy" for me fast and Confidential remains comfortably firm. Confidential also has higher spin potential in the lab! Hope that helps! MIchelle, TW
Hello, which string is most closely related to Solinco Confidential? I used to play with RPM Blast but liked the more control and bite I get with Confidential. Open to ideas. I currently use a Vcore 95 with Confidential 17.
We touch on some of the difference between this string, Hyper-G, Tour Bite, and others in this video. That said, it feels slightly firmer, and also a bit more more dead, or slightly lower in power than Hyper-G, at least initially. As time went on it started to open up a bit, and felt like it got a little livelier. So somewhat in between a Hyper-G, and a Tour Bite, or as playtester Chris found, it is somewhat dead and spin friendly like RPM Blast, but with more feel, and pocketing that you might get from an ALU Power. The tension maintenance is pretty good as well like a Hyper-G. Troy, TW
@@benjaminrio5508, Cream is a more comfort oriented poly, this one plays more firm, and crisp feeling. I found decent comfort with it, but I would string it a few pounds lower than Cream. Troy, TW

Yes, we have tested the 18 gauge and it feels slightly more elastic, and a bit more lively compared to 17. We found the 18 to work best in a really dens string pattern like the Prince Phantom 93P 18x20 or Dunlop CX 200 Tour 18x20. Troy, TW

Likely in a few weeks, the written review takes a bit to get through the editing process, and we are working on a bunch of them right now. Troy, TW
Troy, TW
For this string which is better main or crosses in your own opinion
We enjoyed it on the mains and crosses. Troy, TW
What gauge did you test? How does it compare to Revolution?
Michelle primarily used the 16 (1.30), but also tried 16L (1.25). I tried all gauges, and really liked the 17 (1.20), as my EZONE 98+ feels like it has a rather dense string spacing. Revolution felt a bit softer, and more powerful, whereas this one has better control, and tension maintenance, but power is still there. A nice blend. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Ok, that’s helpful Troy. I have a pack of the 16g and was trying to see what tension to try compared to my regular revolution tension. I’ll stay at same is probably best to compare.
@@tenniswarehouse Ok, confidential or silver 7 tour?
I have tried the 16L and enjoy the soft feeling and control, how much different would it be moving up to a 16?
Not much different, but a bit more control and slightly more durability with the 16. Troy, TW
Should I do confidential on the main or cross
Mains would be my choice. Troy, TW
what's the song at the end???
Hey guys, since I started college, I've been kind of out of the loop when it comes to tennis equipment. I need to restring my racquets but I'm not sure which one to go with. For reference, I'm a long-time tour bite user, but I'd be interested to hear your recommendations for which string I should try out in my pure strike 16x19 racquets.
@LroyJenkns,
A few of our favorite polys are Solinco Hyper G, Volkl Cyclone and Luxilon ALU Power. Those would all be great to try in your Pure Strike!
Michelle, TW
What have you tried on your Pure Strike 16x19? I have the same racquets and changing from ALU Power.
I have a Head Graphene 360+ Speed Pro, what tension range is recommended for the Solinco Confidential string?
The range for the racquet is 48-57 pounds, however with a poly like Confidential we recommend going towards that low end, somewhere around 48 to 50 pounds. Some players even prefer a lower tension than that. Troy, TW
How would you compare this string to Isospeed Cream?
Cream is softer, and more comfortable. This one is firmer, more control, and better tension maintenance. Troy, TW
How would you compare this string in 1.30mm with the solinco diamond rough in 1.25 mm???
Regards C
@Carlos Duarte,
For us that means about 10-15 hours or so on court -- hope that helps!
Michelle, TW
The cringe is confidential
This Michelle girl is always smiling, like, even when she is play testing some racket, they film her serving, volleying, hitting groundstrokes and she is always laughing and smiling hahah who does this while hitting balls in a game 😂😂
Is it more or less powerful than hyper-g? Or around the same?
Pretty similar, but fresh off the stringbed, this one feels a bit more control oriented. Troy, TW
How would you compare this to a dunlop black widow? Is it the same feel?
This one feels more crisp, and responsive. More towards the feel of ALU Power, but with more control. Troy, TW
You guys are great.
How does this one compare to Tour Bite Soft?
Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehousethx a lot Troy. as always, there is all the details I need. 😃👍
Did you try the Head Experimental 17? If yes, how does it compare with this Solinco Confidental?
@Tenisovy test,
We have...!!!
Let's just say it's becoming a favorite of ours as well...we're going to wait and not give it all away until we launch our review ;) But good control and spin and tension maintenance, but that's all I'm saying. 🤭
Michelle, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Yeah, similar feeling for me. I've got the opportunity to test it in my Head Speed Pro and man, this Experimental string is hard, maybe the hardest I've ever played with, but very good feel and control. My string man told me, he doesn't want to touch this string anymore, as it was so hard for him to work with :-)
How would this compare to the solinco revolution string line?
Which would be the best string to pair with natural gut or a premium multifilament like x one biphase in a hybrid setup.
@@tenniswarehouse what color of stencil ink would go well with Confidential color?
@@rayadisurya7343 A thicker white is probably going to be your best option. You can try black as well, but white would pop more!
Michelle, TW
michelle, have you switched to this or are you still using hyper g?
...still using Hyper G mainly (but occasionally string with Confidential!) :)
Michelle, TW
Dear tennis warehouse
Love your videos
Im finding hyper G very lively and soft on my yonex vcore pro 97 hd 18x20...
Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse thank you TW team
How does it feels if we compare it with Black Code? Thanks guys, funny intro :)
We found this one to feel a bit more control, and have a slightly firmer/crisper feel to it. It has somewhat of that firm/crisp feel like ALU Power, but offers more control, like RPM Blast. Troy, TW
How would you compare this string to luxilon alu power and luxilon 4G?
Slightly closer to ALU Power in terms of feel, but slightly more control oriented, closer to 4G in that sense. This one is shaped so offers more spin than both, and tension maintenance is better than ALU Power, but not quite as good as 4G. Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse What about stiffness?
@@carlosanapurus1142-Fairly similar to ALU Power in stiffness. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Thanks a lot Troy.
Hey TW,
I am an intermediate tennis player and I’ve been wanting to buy the Yonex (Ezone 98 2017) but I have tryouts in less than a month and I currently use a Pure Strike 98, is it ok to transition 3 weeks out of the tryouts? Are they similar enough as rackets?
The transition wont take too long, but you may have to get used to the yonex isometric headshape. that means higher sweetspot and also it is commonly known that the top of the ezone is a bit jarring, so maybe some lead. Although Im not gonna say tht the transition will be seamless, it shouldn't bee too bad. but until you get used to it stick with the strike.
Joah Lee Thank You !!
@Eric Estrada,
If you are looking for a multi, Tecnifibre Triax might be one to try!
Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Thank you Troy. Really appreciated for your quick response..
I will try this strings tomorrow on my RF97 too :) bkack one :-)))
Difference between RPM Team, Confidential, Hyper-G, and Tour bite? Which one is best for Burn 100 team for control and spin, but also lasts long. I play around 3-4 hrs a day everyday and I need a string which will last me a while?
Pls Reply
I have tried Hyper-G and I like it, but I want to know which one is best.
We prefer Hyper-G followed by Confidential. That racquet is somewhat light for a full bed of poly, but if that is what you prefer, then go for it. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse What about tour bite?
Should i try it
@@tenniswarehouse What would you prefer instead of a full bed of poly?
Hey TW,
I am looking at a new racket.
Troy, TW
So how did this one compare with Silver 7 Tour?
Slightly softer with this one. Power/control is pretty similar, but maybe a bit more pop from this one, and a bit more control from Silver 7 Tour. Both have great playability duration for co-polys. Troy, TW
@Troy, why dont you split the tension in your Yonex?
Not quite sure what you mean? Like different tensions on the mains vs crosses? Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse yes, doesn't yonex recommend at 5% drop in tension for the crosses?
@@BeckettChung, I'm not for certain on that, but I usually string same tension for mains and crosses. There was a time when I used to string about 2 pounds lower on the crosses, but I ended up finding that it didn't make much of a difference for me. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse thanks!
How would you compare this to RPM Power?
@James Kim,
A little less stiff than RPM and I find it holds tension much better!
Probably either Hyper-G, or Tour Bite, as they are all just slightly different from each other, but all great options. Troy, TW
how you compared with hyper g?
Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse wow thank you!
This whole review should have taken the form of a community theatre performance.
but confidential wasnt new in 2014/2015??? what happened?
It was in the test phase, and prototype for quite a few years, but didn't actually come to market until we did this review. Troy, TW
Solinco tried to figure out the name before releasing it and just gave up
Nice Video!:) What about durabiluty?
Durability, and tension maintenance is pretty similar to Hyper-G, both pretty good. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse How the confort compare to Isospeed cream?
@@benjaminrio5508, Cream is a more comfort oriented poly, this one plays more firm, and crisp feeling. I found decent comfort with it, but I would string it a few pounds lower than Cream. Troy, TW
Does tour bite have more control ?
I would say initially this one felt a bit more control oriented, but as time went on it livened up, to where it felt a bit more powerful than Tour Bite. Troy, TW
Can u compare it to luxilon alu power?
It has a nice crisp feel, and decent ball pocketing like ALU Power, but with some added control, and spin. We find it to offer a nice feel for a poly like ALU Power, but also has some of that spin potential and slightly deader feel like RPM Blast. Troy, TW
Great. Thanks
Would be amazing if they release a rough version of it
what gauge did you guys test?
@entralada,
We were able to test a bunch of tensions -- 16, 16L and 17!
Michelle, TW
Comparison to rpm blast?
This one offers similar control, and spin, but holds tension a bit better. It also feels a bit crisper. Troy, TW
Compare this string to Volkl Cyclone ? :)
This one feels a bit more control oriented, or slightly more dead as we often say, and it also holds its tension a bit better over time. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Spin potentiale better at cyclone?
Michelle, thank you. Carlos
Lol that intro
Hi TW! Did you test the 18 gauge and was there a lot difference to 17 gauge? Thanks.
Yes, we have tested the 18 gauge and it feels slightly more elastic, and a bit more lively compared to 17. We found the 18 to work best in a really dens string pattern like the Prince Phantom 93P 18x20 or Dunlop CX 200 Tour 18x20. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Thanks for the answer! I've been using 18g hyper-g for my Pure strike 16x19 and I've liked it a lot. Now I have 17 confidential on one of my rackets and 18g hyperG in one and can't really decide if I should go 17 or 18g for the confidential. Especially because you said it probably works the best in 18x20 rackets hah.
@@MomentumTennis, well I guess that is our preference for the 18x20 racquets, just because sometimes the strings that are really thin, tend to move around a lot in open string patterns. That said the thinner gauge does add some feel. Troy, TW
This is Oscar worthy acting 😂🤣🤣
Solinco confidence vs volkl cyclone?
Cyclone feels a bit softer, and slightly more lively. This one feels a bit more control oriented, and holds tension longer. Spin is pretty comparable. Troy, TW
how does 16 confidential compare to 16 4g?
Confidential 16 has is softer, and offers a bit more elasticity, and pocketing than 4G 16. Confidential is on the stiffer end of the spectrum, but not like 4G stiff. Besides that, the square profile of Confidential offers a bit easier access to spin. Tension maintenance is very good for both, for being co-polys, maybe a slight bit better with 4G, but its pretty close. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Alright sounds like confidential will work better for my game. Thanks Troy!
Jesus that opening is played out.
