#Facts!!! You are absolutely correct. This band was incredible in every part of the band. Try and tell me what the weak part of this band is. Every person in this band is an all star. From their abilities to their writing, incredible band.
How did you know what I wanted for Christmas? De Garmo, unquestionably one of the best melody/ harmony writers of the era. And he sing high harmony to Tate. An absolute monster. They were never the same after he left. Merry Christmas, Carl and thanks for all your content and all you do for us!
Best quote of the lesson!!! “It takes us to the second verse which is completely different than the first verse... and it completely rocks too” 🤘🤘🤘 I couldn’t agree with you more Carl!!!!!
I can't listen to this song without just listening to the whole album. It's a masterpiece. But the outro groove in this song is so kick ass. When I was a teenager we dubbed it over and over together so we could jam out to it for 10 minutes. Easy to do now, but back in '88 - not so much.
Three days in, still playing this album twice a day, and I have to jam out twice before I can settle down and go over the lesson again. Wonder if I still got a t-shrit in the closet somewhere....
this is my favorite metal group..these guys have helped me through some very rough times in this life.im thankful for their music. thank you for posting..
HAPPY HOLIDAYS CARL!!! In my opinion...Operation Mindcrime is the greatest album Queensrÿche ever produced. Thank you for this lesson. “I Don’t Believe in Love” is also among my favorite songs by them.
AWESOME. i saw them live twice on the EMPIRE tour in the summer and fall of 1991. Thank u for showing the subtle intricacies ive heard all these years but never understood how they did it.
still my favorite band of all time and there isnt a day that goes by if im rocking out on guitar I play multiple Ryche Riffs. Over the years its nice to get them right. Thanks for posting.
Great to see some praise for Degarmo. Totally agree. He often guests with Alice in Chains and Jerry Cantrell - was on Jerry's solo album and tours, and AICs last record
Still working on perfecting this one a few months later! Thank you again so very much for this wonderful lesson! It was the best Christmas gift by far!!! Love your enthusiasm in this one Carl, I believe it is shared by many!
Great job and love you for 18:30 "sorry got carried away there". Don't worry, everyone else is throwing the guitar around, moshing out to that bit and knocking over pot plants, maiming passing children etc. It is those little bits of intensity / dissonance that...
Dude, you are the man. Breaking this song down,is so Kool. I remember trying to learn it from tab years ago from guitar magazine, got nowhere, awesome thanks bud!!
You are a GREAT teacher! Thank you! Their chord structure always mystified me... they sound so blended and sprite-like... like a "spray of color" so to say. Great videos!
Just became a Patreon supporter last night in addition to being a 365 Academy member. Thanks so much for this video lesson and all the other great lessons as well!!
What a great lesson . I’ve always loved Queensryches chord voicings . Yes I most definitely agree with you about Chris Degarmo one of the best in our time! Pure musical genius. He left us all wanting more to fly jets . I know he did some stuff with his daughter have you heard that? I love the stuff on promised land. Thanks for a great lesson I’m going to share this now
Wow! Thanks so much for such a in depth lesson. Being from Seattle these guys were local heroes and the quality of this album was shockingly good. I do think they had a little help from Pink Floyd for some of the atmosphere - the intro here is the same as Empty Spaces from the Wall. Great stuff either way!!
Mr. Brown... hands down to the absolute best riff analysis and guitar methodology for CERTAINLY ONE OF THE BEST heavy-metal tracks from the 80-ies !!!! OUTSTANDING JOB and SKILL to catch these guitar sounds and exhibit them so clearly and efficiently here. Thanks to you, one can really enjoy playing this song to a backing track and it feels great... myself get carried away just like you throughout the lesson :))))))) Perhaps, you could consider doing the same for Queensryche´s ´´I Don´t Believe in Love ´´?
okay first of all not cool making me show emotion right now. I've air guitared this song for so long. Omg the Operation: Mindcrime cassette. Straight updating was my first and only Queensryche album. The album is a metal masterpiece of guitars and high pitched singing done ryche get it. Eyes of a Stranger Revolution Calling Sister Mary Empty Room. My dudes told the future on this one. Anyway, thank you, brother.. A thousand thank yous. I still think if we were to look I would see some song similarity in our playlists. Now excuse me I have dust in my eyes. How dare you make me feel stuff. Without your videos, I would not have the confidence to do the solo runs I just went for it, and glorious. These guys were obvious professionals. Amazing
This is so great, thank you. After many years off, I've picked up playing again and I've found this song alot of fun. Rythym is fairly easy (but I liked the main riff b/c of the string skipping) and the solos have been challenging but fun as I used to (in the 80s!) focus alot on scale patterns. I've seen a few videos but this one got me to hit the subscibe button.
Carl, here is where I am at....I've "almost" subscribed about a dozen times....seriously, BUT i hesitate because I would love to see the tabs included. Don't get me wrong, you are #1 on UA-cam but....my check is ready to go...LMK
Sorry but if I included TAB I would be breaking international copyright laws since I would have to have licensing for every song I provide a TAB for… just not gonna happen unfortunately
@@GuitarLessons365SongLessons Thank you for the reply!! Never thought I would hear back....Well, I wasn't aware of legalities but I will subscribe because I fully support you! Thank you sir!
Awesome! Love this tune..ya know as soon as I seen this.. I immediately thought of Savatage Hall of the mountain King.. Would be sweet if ya did that one!

Happy Holidays man!
wait where's the actual solo
Chris DeGarmo was one of the most underated Guitarists of his time, his work on Mindcrime is a masterclass.
It’s a crime (pun not intended) how under-rated and semi-forgotten he is. The whole band too. Operation Mindcrime is nothing less than a masterpiece.
Absolutly agree %💯
#Facts!!!
You are absolutely correct. This band was incredible in every part of the band. Try and tell me what the weak part of this band is. Every person in this band is an all star. From their abilities to their writing, incredible band.
Was in my CD player in cars for 20 years straight. Really deep album.
How did you know what I wanted for Christmas? De Garmo, unquestionably one of the best melody/ harmony writers of the era. And he sing high harmony to Tate. An absolute monster. They were never the same after he left. Merry Christmas, Carl and thanks for all your content and all you do for us!
Could you imagine how fast a Reunion tour with the OG lineup playing Mindcrime front to back would sell out?
Best quote of the lesson!!! “It takes us to the second verse which is completely different than the first verse... and it completely rocks too” 🤘🤘🤘 I couldn’t agree with you more Carl!!!!!
Trying to pick it out from ear,I noticed something odd,now I know!
Killer song from them! The tone and skill is as amazing as ever! Thank you for this lesson!

God i loved mindcrime. I had a Promo set with VHS, CD and Booklet in a huge box. Great lesson, ty.

I agree, this song is epic! Live with those huge screens they used to tell a story along with their playing was a monster show!
