I was under the impression active stretching means using the muscle group that is responsible for the opposite movement to the target muscle group to stretch the target even further. The active stretches you do where you stretch and flex the muscle at the same time seems unsafe since that can cause micro tears which in turn can create scar tissue in the muscle. Could you elaborate on how to do them safely?

@movementbydavid after a recent injury to my lower vertebrae (S1-L5) and a sciatica flare up. Really looking to fix the near constant hip/left butt cheek pain. Can’t figure out if it’s APT/Lordosis, or if it’s a result of tightness in the hip flexor, and lack of engagement in the glutes. (Had surgery on the opposite femur 10+ years ago, and the rehab was a bit lacking).
    Any suggestions?

Idk there are mma fighters and gymnasts who seem very flexible and muscular. I think you're just naturally small. You could put on 20lbs of muscle and you'd still be able to be that flexible and not necessarily have noodly legs. IF you wanted to. Nothing wrong with any fitness goal. Just saying you CAN look muscular while also being flexible
