@user-mk4or5yu9rI agree with you that this story doesn’t make any sense. But perhaps there’s other factors that we’re not being told about. Let’s just say, that I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve been drinking. That would explain their poor decision making and why the boat sank in the first place. But I’m only guessing I could be wrong.

I lost 3 friends in the Gulf of Mexico and about a month later my GF at the time, a friend and I found our damn selves overturned and dog padding in the Gulf. We were pulling a shrimp net when a storm came up FAST. We cut the net lose and headed for the shore ut it was too late. A wave swamped our boat and we turned over. The storm was raging overhead. We would ride a wave up then down. When we were between waves it was like being in a bowl of water. I thought we were finished. We grabbed onto the overturned boat gas cans just whatever we could get our hands on. After a couole of hours a big boat came and picked up up. They had seen the red bottom of the boat and they fired up their boat and cane out. We found out later that that storm had overturned 18 boats that evening. Miraculously, no one lost their lives

Up until the very final moment of the program, I had remained unflinchingly convinced that at any moment, Ed was going to appear seated beside Ken describing the horrific ordeal he experienced while waiting for Ken to return with help. In fact, even when Ken had gone down to the morgue to visit his deceased buddy, I had wholeheartedly expected to see Ed blink his eyes and come to as if his death had somehow been determined by mistake.
I had prayed so hard throughout the entire program that Ed had ultimately pulled through, but alas, my prayers couldn't undo what had already transpired. I could sense the immense pain and grief Ken still bears for his departed best friend, and I would be lying if I tried to act as though Ed's passing doesn't pain me on a deeply profound level. It's so rare, it seems, to witness bonds of friendship as powerful and genuine and eternal as their's. I am truly grateful for having been blessed with many great friends throughout my life in addition to my best friend of 40 years who, moat tragically, lost her life to violence two years ago. My heart goes out to Ed's family and loved ones

Why did it sink? Because they forgot to put in the Bung.
while your moving the water is sucked out, as soon as you stop moving it pours in with high pressure.
Always check the Drain hole plug (Bung)

When that much water comes in you’ve lost a hose off a sea cock normally…terrible shame but should have stayed attached to the old rig ….. and looked inside for the source of water as it might have been as simple as turning off a sea cock

5 minutes yet they never went for the most important equipment. That’s the first thing you go for before even thinking about what is wrong. You toss it all in the water and stuff gear in your vest.

I tink that the first ting they should have done is to look to see where’s the water coming from, i am a sea man and that happened to me before on a bigger boat than that one, Firts we found where the water was coming from then i took off my shirt jumped overboard dive to hole where the water was entering and plug it with the shirt after my friend give me a screw driver and i stuck the shirt deeper in the hold then we returned to port in the Bahamas 🇧🇸 Its amazing how small tings and quick tinking can save lives.

@@blackvelvet1350My comment wasn't mocking, it was asking a question about a bad decision that led to loss of life. Acknowledging & answering the question as to how it happened is crucial to prevent more loss. This event shows that even pros can ignore rules and that can go very wrong. That is what's most important to those who didn't know these people personally, & I won't insult their families by pretending to emotions that are their sole prerogative.

@@chris_iapetus So true. Many mistakes made. Staying at the rig when the water started to come in, would have been much, much smarter. Exactly. They should have stayed at the rig as the boat begin to sink. Come on !?!?! They should have gotten stuff off the boat that would help in rescue, immediately when water was seen.
