Why is everyone complaining that it's not a real lightsaber. You really think we've come as far to stop light to a certain length and make it deadly enough to slice through metal. Just fucking appreciate the time and effort this guy put into this. I respect this guy.

actually it would be wiser to have valve open by pulling and closed by pushing as pushing is way more intuitive way of operating stuff like that and that means if you panick out or something soes wrong your first instinct will be to push on it, also if ring break you may have some problems closing it so that should be done that way
Alright guys I'm in a hurry cuz I have to try out for the spot in the next myth busters show. But before I go, I'll show you how to make a working lighsaber...
I was thinking in my head, while watching the video, either a small propane torch attached to the handle, or a 9v battery, connecting to two wires, that are spaced apart, so when you turn the battery, an electric current jumps through the air, igniting the fuel.

+Snakeblood913 well if he were working around dangerous gases like this sparking that up could potentially cause a reaction and boom but 50 50 he might even use completely different gasses i do think the battery would be more effective in the long run tho

WTF it's melee so you wouldn't fight with it, it's basically a sword so why making a "war" with it? That comment makes no sense to me, especially cause it's impossible to create a real lightsabre
@@xxmagfracerxx4697 because lightsaber really it’s not very practical it is a lightsaber just not like the lightsaber of the movies really you can’t deflect bullets or burn them you would bring a shield with you to protect you from other lightsabers and bullets but still not practical.
For the ring to release fuel, you could use a spring so that if you let go, the fuel stops releasing. This way you won't need a ring. Just a suggestion but great video! Keep it up c:
That would suck if the spring malfunctioned and your stuck with spraying fuel everywhere, maybe if a redundant design is made.

Word to the wise, never ever mess with open flames or the like while wearing rubber or latex gloves like that. If something goes wrong you will regret it when the gloves melt into your flesh. I speak from experience and 3rd degree burns that could have been easily avoided with leather gloves. Remember safety first and think about possible accidents before they can happen and ruin your day, or possibly your entire life!

To the person that's making the light saber you can design the ring switch to be flush against the hilt vertically so it you would still be able to push and pull on it to activate it

I think the push-off orientation for the syringe valve would make much more sense. If you accidentally drop the lightsaber, there would be a fair chance of it shutting itself off, and if the ring snaps off somehow while the thing is on, you'd be able to shut it off again.

Attaching this to a plasma lighter with a pretty simple ignition system would be very cool.

for all of you saying we dont have the technology to condense plasma i suggest you look up a tokamok it uses electromagnetic fields to condense plasma into a ring its not exactly a lightsaber but its really close to that one difference being with a tokamok its a vacumed area

Please hire a team of engineers to engineer a series of proprietary parts designed specifically for this purpose. Bigger tank, more nozzles (possible one 100% nozzle with like six or seven 60/40 fuel/methanol nozzles around it in a circle), more durable nozzles, reinforced connection, thicker stream, hotter stream, more durable ignition, separate oxygen/methanol and fuel systems, forced induction, bigger hilt (probably longer), bigger/better battery , self destruction, and disposability.
With the switch you can put a spring to push it up so it turned off and you press the button to turn it on

seems like pushing the ring in is a lot easier and more reliable then pulling it out.. for safetys sake i would use the pushing to shut it off.. just a thought
you could've used a slide "button"kind of like a flashlight to push either side of the button, then it would be flush with the hilt

It should, it wont last forever though.
It won't dissolve well, so it might clog the valve - but you can make the ester. One of the chem guys on YT (nilered, nurdrage or chemplayer) made a vid how to do that
It was nurdrage and that method is kinda expensive when you can get sodium tetraborate in particle ground.

What you should do is make a plasma blade! By using a metal blade which has holes in it than in the metal blade is a tube which has holes too. Than you have plasma shooting out of the holes!

I would actually make it pull on push off. That way if the ring snaps off while it's on, it's easy to push it in still to turn it off. Just a safety factor in that.
Agreed. Although, I would have attached something to that slide activation switch to make it double duty and switch both the ignition and fuel. It'd be more ergonomic that way. I had thoughts about using a pump to pressurize the fuel to... and maybe you could make the blade of variable length that way.
