Didn’t mention the coolest new feature, the real time orbit around the black hole that changes enemy difficulty/placement/frequency and can create new enemies in areas you’ve previously explored.
I dont agree with this review one bit, first of all he talked about it with the assumption that everyone playing this has played Dark Souls, which i agree its likely but not absolute, he didnt mention any of mechanica around the black hole hour, the side boss, level design, the ghost, etc. I get it everyone has their opinion but reviewing should be a little more objective and informative
I think a lot of people are poo poo -ing this game without realising just how many people are fiending for the next from software game. Just like metroidvanias share mechanics with Metroid and castlevania, souls likes share mechanics with…. These same people praise ashen and other hipster takes on the souls series even though they do even less to differentiate themselves from dark souls than hellpoint or mortal shell. Pretentious art direction usually doesn’t mask the fact that those games are extremely bare bones when it comes to combat, build variety and the enjoyment of from software’s fans. For what it is, hellpoint did it’s job, and that’s all some of us ask for when waiting for the next Miyazaki game. I’m more than happy that some developers are investing all their time and money into making games like these.
There are problems sure but at some point we will have to accept that stamina based games with respawn mechanics doesn't mean it is a dark souls copy. This may be controversial but there are so many isometric games that have exactly the same mechanics, and really wholly on the story or combat. This also occurs in jrpgs, quite often. I don't know what this genre should be called, maybe souls-like is appropriate, much like rogue-lite and metroidvania. I did, however, enjoy your review. Thoughts?
Would you recommend this game for someone who has never played a Dark Souls or Souls-like game before? Is it a good intro into the genera? If not, what game would you recommend as an entry point? (other than Dark Souls itself)?
@Genaro Andrade Nothing, but it feels quite dated in many aspects compared to the newer games in the genre. I used to love the slow and sluggish combat, but I gotta admit it feels more fun in bloodborne, Nioh 2 or Remnant with a faster pacing. It even feels archaic going back to the slower combat at this point.
@Genaro Andrade I've played and completed every souls like on the market. I agree with you, Dark souls 3 isn't slow and I never said it was. It was different because it came after Miyazaki evolved the gameplay with bloodborne. Funnily enough, sekiro is my least favourite of the fromsoftware games as it plays more like a tenchu game and metal gear revengeance, basically parry or die. Plus it lacks most of the rpg mechanics and stats progression I enjoy in these games.
Terrible review!!! You love souls game too much!! You shouldn’t review games that are similar to it, cause you will only trash them.. hellpoint is an amazing game. I’m still loving it 🤗

It’s kinda under-utilised though…

Burn..good job reviewing the reviewer
What was your favorite set of armor? Fashion wise? Cuz I know that's what I play RPGs for!

Does the game not have a lock on? You don't use it in the footage.
For HALF the cost of a souls game. Price point should play a role in any comparisons
Does it have FPS issues like the thespian feast?
I know this review is old buuuuut did you play the game past the first few areas? Its kinda fantastic.

Just 6/10. Every 2D pixel art crap that looks like it was made 30 years got better review from you. It sounds like you just don'z like this genre.

Remnant From the Ashes is a much better “indie” Darksouls experience with unique systems. You could also go Nioh 2, which is really good
Perfect recommendations. The 2 mentioned by Noisy P are the more modern and more accessible souls-like games.
@@NoisyPixelNews Thanks!

U guys r the best
Thank you so much!
Why so many dislikes? ):
This review is terrible! This game is without question a hidden gem!
Steam banned Bokuten
That’s the question we’re all asking
Seems overpriced for a mediocre derivative game
