  • ((1080p)) This rare version is so flipping out good, played not only smokin' fast but Campbell clean, and almost remained unknown: Glen Campbell's astounding acoustic guitar studio recording of "The William Tell Overture." Thanks to a serendipitous oversight, it was unintentionally unshelved and released on a 2-CD 1997 compilation set, "The Glen Campbell Collection (1962-1989)."
The compilation set was meant to feature an already well-known live version of Glen performing "The William Tell Overture" on electric guitar, a track from his "Live at the Royal Festival Hall" album (1977), and listed it as such in the collection's published tracklist.
An oversight on a pressing like this one just goes to show: an imperfect release can exceed perfection. ~D. Zink for Glen Campbell A Campbellology ©2020

Note: AllMusic and Wikipedia mistakenly list the set's title as "The Glen Campbell Collection (1962-1989): Gentle On My Mind"
